Hey Matthew, It's easier to immerse yourself in the history if it is on its own. I (Alison) visited the pyramids of Giza many years ago. I was so shocked and disappointed that Cairo extended all the way to the pyramids on one side. The photos I'd seen always had the desert in the background, so I had assumed that they were in the middle of nowhere. 🤷🏼‍♀️💜🤟

Hey guys, The temple was amazing. Such a serene location, until just before sunset, then it becomes a tourist hotspot with coaches of people appearing in droves. 🏛️ 🤦🏼‍♀️ We really liked it and we're sure we will go back again. Greece is mostly mountains, so it's virtually impossible not to have amazing views. It's always worrying when Darren thinks. Especially as we both share a brain cell. 😵‍💫 The baby is a bit of a star ⭐ yes. He likes to walk up to people and say hi when he's out on his lead. Hey guys, Yes, I (Alison) would have happily taken him on too. I fell for him hook line and stinker. His personality was as fabulous as he was handsome. He wasn't wearing a coat, so we don't actually know if he was owned or a street dog, but he had a blonde less friendly buddy with him. Sky when we got back to Perse, he was nowhere to be seen so we couldn't give him any food. 😢 Places always get compared in our house. You are correct, we are very, very spoilt, but hopefully will never get complacent. 🤞 The church in Mystras was Pantanassa Holy Convent, that still had a couple of nuns in residence and was built in 1428. Not looking bad all things considered. Wish I had worn as well..! 🤣🤣 Much love with safe and happy travels guys. 😘💜🤟

Hey Matthew, Go in winter. The queue to get into the Acropolis site was only about 20 people. It was about 10.30-11am but the time we got there, if you visited earlier, there would be a lot less people, were sure. We think we timed it right by going just before Christmas. Most people would have been thinking about buying last minute presents, rather than visiting the ancient sites. There was hardly anyone in the ancient Greek Agora site. We hope to go back in the next couple of weeks, so we'll be able to see how it compares. To know we hate busy places, but it was Ok. Thanks for your comment. Much love 🏛️💜🤟

Hey Jenny..! Our hearts burst and we aren't Greek..! We really adored Athens. The camp site that we stayed at, was the most expensive that we have stayed at since we moved into our motorhome 14 months ago, but that's probably because we try not to stay in expensive places. However, comparing it to other campsites in the area and others in other countries, it wasn't that expensive. We paid €35 per night, but we have seen coastal resorts in other countries up to €120 per night. The food that we had each day cost us less than €30 between the 2 of us and that was in the tourist areas. We have been charged €60 for a meal in a coastal resort in Spain that was less filling and worse quality, so all things considered, we think Athens is actually quite reasonable. We can't wait to go back in a few weeks and see some more of the sights. No wonder you are proud of your heritage. 😍 We love to hear your comments. Much love Alison and Darren 😘💜🤟

Athens isn't expensive if you avoid the tourist traps. I know, I live here.

@tirokopita We are somewhat restricted with where we can park, especially in large cities, as our motorhome is 7.4m long. We didn't find Athens expensive even in the tourist areas. We were very surprised. 😍💜🤟

Hey Matthew, Only once in the duration of time that we were in Athens. A man and a woman were walking too close for my liking in a non-busy street, but it turned out to be nothing. People are probably used to walking closer together in the city and maybe we were dawdling, taking in the sites. In other cities around the world, yes, but we are always careful and vigilant. Aaww thanks guys..! It was really unusual for us to feel so at home in a city. The only disappointment was that we couldn't see more in two days.🤣 Kostas found us and is very good at upselling. It amazes us that there are 11 million people living in Greece (legally) and 5 million of those, live in Athens and its suburbs, although it was easy to imagine when you see Athens from Lycabettus Hill and see how huge it is. We hope to go back again soon and see some more, including loads of museums. 🤞 Hopefully Athens will still be as 'quiet' as it was last time. 😜 Thanks for your comment guys. Much love 😘💜🤟

Hey Kat, A lot of the sites are roughly in the same general area, but the Lycabettus Hill was a long distance away and I (Alison) have to apologise, when I planned our visit, I thought that there was more to see on the hill itself than just the church. In hindsight, it wouldn't have been a priority for us. The Greek Agora site was huge and took quite a while to walk around. By the time we got the metro into the city, we didn't arrive in Athens until 10.30/10.45 and then had to walk to the sites and were advised to leave before dark. I was surprised that we didn't get to see as much as we had hoped in one day. I was shattered by the end of the second day and we still had lots more things on my/our list to visit and hadn't made it to any of the museums, of which there are many. I think we would need at least a week to see most of the things on my list. We plan to go back and see more shortly, after the kitten has had his next vaccine at the vets here on the island of Evia. By all means drop us a list of your must-see places of Athens and we'll try to get there for you. Spoiler alert our second day was definitely the best. 🏛️😍😘🥰💜🤟

Mystras was amazing. Such a big expanse of land covered. Shame we couldn't get into the palace. Maybe next time around. There is always extra time for animal loving. 🤣😘💜🤟

@findingxanadulife i so love traveling with you guys! I might not get to many of those areas. One never knows but still ... I'm behind on videos we've had awful weather with frigid temps. Have had dr appts and going to supermarket just in case. We got 2 in.of snow and tons of sleet. VERY unusual for our state. I started the next one but have not finished. Darren us a great handyman, first door now fridge 👏👏👏😂 good show Darren!

We really liked Athens and felt safe even though it is such a huge city. Your heritage is even more amazing up close. They definitely built the new city on top of the ancient city, as is often the case. The excuse is that it had been demolished by an earthquake etc, but in reality in the 1800's it was also common place to rob the ancient stone and build new places with it. Sadly it happened all around the world. There must be so many other places waiting to be discovered. It's very sad. Much love.😘💜🤟

Yes indeed Steven, almost 900 steps would be difficult enough without the wind that we experienced that day. The little man is doing great thanks. He adores our other cat Spud and is learning to trust our dog, after being chased and bitten by a dog before we adopted him. He will never be able to take the place off Maypiya, but he is utterly adorable and a great fit for our family. 😻 Thanks so much for your comment. 😘💜🤟
