I don’t understand the complaint about Iron Fist being too strong/annoying. I don’t even recall one single match in which my team was being beaten up by Iron Fist, or that I had problem dealing with one as Luna/Mantis

We've come such a long way from Demoknight. As much as we all love Demoknight he's kind of a mess and taught us a lot about what to do and not do with a melee-focused character in a shooter.

I love how this game is somehow a third person shooter, 3rd person beat em up, or 3rd person hack and slash, simply depending on which character you pick.
It's not just the melee, look at the turret heros, namore has a harder to aim primary than hawkeye that he needs to land headshots for full dmg from his turrets, instead of torb who just places and forgets, than goes off to brawl a tank 😂, or loki who is a 4 star for a reason Or their moira, scarlet witch, a glass cannon who needs to get close and play more flanky without an abundance of heals, i mean they have the same dps on their primary but moira has more auto aim and Scarlets an actual dps lol Or the fact they have no hero I would call a tank buster, maybe wolverine but he's gotta get point blank and doesn't have insane lifesteal, it feels fair if he manages to get you usually, or the fact every tank has skillful mitigation, even strange who is most similar to orisa, has his anti heal mechanic which makes him choose between healing and dmg so he isn't just an unkillable horse with a 1 shot if you get between her and a wall 😂 an peny who again is a 4 star for a reason. It's just better in every conceivable way, it's downright impressive... I used to think I only liked dive heros in games but it turns out anti dive can be fun too when it's skillful, storm an peny are in my top most played and I was a doomfist genji main on ow 😂

Like, overwatch hardest kit is wrecking ball and after his lowest pick rate, blizzard decided to give up making another hero as unique as him And decided to make braindead hero such as male mercy, female S76 without healing turret, female S76 with healing turret, and tank bastion
That's why players from Overwatch saying movements for melee DPS in Marvel Rivals feels slow sounds more like a skill issue to me. The amount of mobility and utility characters have both tank and dps is insane in this game. Even Groot that has no flight, dash or sprint has his own utility since he can technically make his own "stairs" by placing his walls diagonally like in Fortnite to move up and down plus those walls don't just block but attack nearby enemies as well.
Lets be honest, everyone who stayed with overwatch untill now has problems to sort out.

so, there are such mech in game as stun, counterplay - break stun, counterplay - spam stun, counterplay spam stability, counterplay spam stun/rip boon/unblokable skills. so, players must every sec count incoming stun/counterstun - its broken gamplay, in game where ttk 1 sec nobody will do this, ppl just delete game, so, dews fix this - add "ignore all". imagine there are button which just cancel ALL GAME MECHANICS! whatahell is that? as result if players want normal play they must use only those builds which hawe this fantastic button which ignore around 90% game mechanics which are broken, worst gamedesign ever.

They made the walls a vital part of gameplay, which definitely helped with mobility for all characters especially melees
and were smart enough to make them destructable, so you can do something to see who is flanking you
I disagree with your opinion about the team-ups. Team ups are crucial for 2 reasons, team comp and immersive experience. Having an extra layer of depth gives this game a personality that other similar games don't offer. They incentivize players to play with the TEAM in mind because you know, it's a TEAM based game. Stop looking at these incentives as some form of punishment because you want to main your own heroes but rather as a reward to playing with the team. Without these team-ups, you'd be left with 5 duelist line ups lobbies. This also pose an extra challenge for those who just wants to play whatever. As for buffs, it is because the ones not getting a passive/active skill due to the team-up are left without any upgrades so buffing them is to alleviate the lack of passive/active skill from the team-up.
my exact quote is "more Manlet Missiles, less passive buffs please." - i specifically request more teamups. you must understand that current passive buffs are active regardless if teamup is active or not, meaning players are rewarded essentially for nothing. When did you ever saw a Hela or Hawkey player picking their hero "for the team?". Are you really thinking that withaut permament +20% dmg to Hela, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Iron Fist we would see MORE duelist presence? Bro, large reason why tanks and supports are miserable is that those characters do more damage than they should. Hela can 2 tap 250 hp heroes with one to head one to body, Hawkeye can oneshot 250 hp heroes with 25% charge and Iron fist can burst them in unrer 1.5 sec. only two supports have above 250 health, and still is measely 275 meaning hawkeye has to charge up to 30%, Hela needs two headshots to two-shot them and I-Fist needs 1.6 sec. Imagine if they decide to randomly give Black Widow 20% more damage so she oneshot-headsots now. ha, ha funny. Passive permamently active buffs aren't a good way to entice playerbase to go for teamups. Making thise teamups fun like Hulk's with Wolverine, and not boring like Hulk's with Iron man, would be the way to do this, rather than making already super opressive by desighn characters do more damage than they should.

Netease had some experience with Melee vs Ranged 3rd Person/ 1st Person fights via their now EoS game Super Mecha Champions. Magick looks and feels alot like their main Melee Mech on that game Excalibur
wolverine DEFINETLY DOESN'T need any changes, this character is STUPIDLY strong, people just don't know how to play with him yet. He is a tank shredder, and a team fight engager/starter. His ult, when ulted on melee range, snares all enemies in his front, and he can jump on your team with everyone. Just image a good wolverine ulting 4~5 people, then pulling them to a dr strange while removing like 70% of their hp, or just comboing with winter solider, after wolverine ults and set up things for winter soldier, he then can just ult to kill 4~5 people in an instant
let's be honest, in lobbies where people can tell appart their heads from their asses Wolvo isn't going to get a chance at ulting 4 people, becouse spacing is a thing. That said he can make every fight 6v5 with the kidnapp tech and is really good on defence. we just need more time for ppl to see that.

Rivals is giving overwatch players what blizzard never offered and its pure insanity they really took their time well as old publisher of blizzard in CN before blizzard cut their ties in 2022 (and microsoft forced blizzard to fix the ties in 2024)

Iron Fist is not the entire lineup bro. Go try getting a kill on Spiderman or Black Panther, and see if its easier then clicking on someone twice as Hela.

@@Turned2Ice except you don't have deflect or any other defensive skill. Assists or primary fire kills don't give you restets. You don't have 2-shot damage to begin with and need 2 resets to kill squeeshiest character in the game - even if they aren't being supported. You can kill enemies faster by clicking people's heads twice (or once) lol, while never leaving safe cozy spot in the middle of your team, while EVERY mele character needs to risk death to deal damage in the first place, let alone get a single kill, by putting themselves grosely out of position.

I would say it's a bit more. Mobility plays a part. But so does map design. It needs verticality for that mobility to be interesting and require skill. Additionally, a lot of the melee characters have some way to reduce or negate damage in their own way. Captain America has a shield that can reflect projectiles. Hulk has a team wide barrier that grants him ultimate charge. Venom has a self barrier that is bigger the more he is hurt. Thor gains a barrier whenever he uses an ability that uses his Thorforce. Iron Fist has a short window of damage negation that grants him a larger shield the more damage he blocked. Magik is invulnerable during her portal dash and gains shields when she hits people. Black Panther has higher than average duelist health, and gains a barrier every time he uses his dash through a marked target. Wolverine has higher than average duelist health, a damage reducing ability, and one that basically lets him instantly resurrect if he dies while it's available, gaining more shields the more rage he has. Pretty much only Spider-man doesn't, and he's the most mobile character in the game. I would argue that Deadlock gets a lot of this right also, giving a lot of mobility through stamina and wall jumps, and highly vertical maps. But as a game that relies on item building, it's the player's decision to make their character more mobile, or stronger in melee. Most characters can be built melee, so that's interesting, but because it's more based on the items there's a bit less uniqueness to the melee combat. Though the parry system is pretty cool.
trust me, i do not mean to undervalue rest of character's kits, i know they make a difference, just not as big of a difference as mobility does. And also I'm living room for deeper dives into specific kits if people are interested to see such content.
@@captaincrapface7337 I'd certainly wager that the feeling of mobility helps things too. Doesn't matter if you're tanky but it always feels ranged has the jump on you. Certainly looks like better melee mobility than in SW: Hunters. The wookie especially feels like he has a rough time of it. Go figure then that one of my favorite and non-mobile characters is J-3DI. No mobility, high melee damage, a Get Over Here force pull, and can deflect about 75% attacks (not all ranged has blasters). :)
I just like how all the melee characters have unique strengths and weaknesses and counterplay and dont feel like punchy guy #4.
While I agree with most of what was said, I still think some Tacticians need more ways to FORCE a melee unit off of them with no counterplay on the melees part. As it stands playing healer sucks as bad as OW because most melees can combo you from full HP to dead or if they whiff part of the combo chase you down with no possible counterplay since they have better mobility, damage, and for some odd reason many have better sustain. Personally I think some Tacticians need to function as anti-flankers on a pre nerf Briggitte level. and to stop the Super agressive people from playing these champs as flankers, make it so the hard CC and bonus damage only applies on your side of the payload/objective

Just watched this to see what's going on with gw2. Played that game for over a decade and got really into the wvw and pvp scene. My guy good on you for talking about this, but we need is gw3. In the mean time elden ring and poe2 are Hella good and scratch that itch for me

map design also plays a part, there are plenty of nooks and crannies, and choke points and melee accessible high ground that makes it possible for melee heros/villains to stay out of view or behind cover until they want to engage or disengage that limits ranged options to either respond or gain the advantage when the area isn't wide open and they can't shoot their opponent down b4 they reach them Melee options becomes a lot more viable when you can hide around the right corner and jump someone i'd argue while none of the melee characters NEED more than numeric adjustments, they might appreciate some QoL mechanica adjustments But a hero who NEEDS mechanical adjustments is Storm, regardless of where they wanted her to end up too many aspects of her kit are in contraction with each other meaning she PAYS for power she cannot always use or fully optimize.
Add to that destroyable terrain, allowing you to (for example) deny enemy their high ground, or to punch your way trough a wall to ambush the enemy. opens up possibilities.
The problem with rpg shooters is that must of their characters are meant to be played the same: Stay Behind and shoot. So anyone with a dash in those games is nerfed to the ground as just a handful of their roster got movility. However, in Marvel Rivals, things are MEANT to be more aggressive and fast passed. Besides, a quarter of their heroes are divers, so defensive comps are much more manageable. (Double barrier/GOATS meta ptsd)
I’m still not really sure how you’re supposed to break a strange + peni comp though especially if they have heroes that can put out serious damage behind them like Hawkeye.

Nah Wolverine isn't techincally supposed to be doing what Iron Fist does, because Wolverine is made to dismantle frontlines and shred tanks
Iron fist is severely overtuned, he's the best melee in the game by miles.
@@stephanfouche9208 i know everyone wants this but i feel like it would either just be too good or do nothing depending on the situation and he should maybe just get a low healing per second but the number would need to be tweaked a lot to be balanced probably, maybe it increases based on how many enemies are near or allies that are dead
