People have to realize in an industry with massive budgets, they are being smart by using their resources effectively. I fear the fanbase is too spoiled at this point and expect new gourmet every time Miyazaki steps into the kitchen. It will be worse if they decide to finally move on from ARPGs like this and take risks making something new. I think they are by bringing back Armored Core and whatever their next IP will be. I've no idea what the lore channels will do as they struggled to adapt with Sekiro and caught off-guard by AC VI and had to catch up in terms of gameplay.

So the ancestral follower that is in the lake of rot isn’t special except for what he drops when you kill him… the immunizing horn charm+1. “The ancestral followers believed that the horns of a long-lived beast continue to bud like antlers , over and over again, until the beast one day becomes an ancestral spirit”. You’ll also find the mottled necklace next to ancestral followers in Nokron as well… he’s standing out there in the rot, immune to it. Then you come take his necklace from him so you can have some immunity now hahaha

Farum azula gets spoiled way before the erdtree is burnt, thanks to the portal warping to a separate part of it, maybe it was kept hidden to avoid players getting focused on trying to reach it instead of admiring the landscape

Elden Ring's 1.00 version has Rot versions of the Ancestral Followers in the Lake. They were removed in 1.01.

In 1.00 Lake of Rot didn't have the centipede guys at the bottom, they were all ancestral warriors afflicted with rot. Theres some lore behind it🎉

Marika probably hid it for the exact same reason the Devs did: if you could see that from nearly anywhere in the lands between (which you would've been) both the players and the residents of the lands between would spend a long time thinking about the crazy flying city in a storm that's right over there in the sky, and asking what it is and how to reach it so the reason for it not being visible is consistent both within and without the 4th wall

What this game absolutely NEEDS is cross-play.
