I don't know why people are being so negative. People love to watch and play modded randomizer runs, and speedruns/boss rush runs. Nightreign sounds like that, with a (potentially) improved co-op experience, bonus content and new bosses, and streamlined to not require 15 hours of running around to make progress in a match. Plus it's not full price and it's standalone so it won't negatively impact the original Elden Ring game. I can't wait!
People are talking about the voice, but a new avatar is a cool addition too. I have conflicting thoughts about this game, but let's hope that it's going to surprise us all in a good way. See ya in a new video, moonlight prince.
i like the use of the helltaker stylized characters also the addition of the voice it's some i also really liked about the onlywaifu channel until she completely changed the artstyle and started making everyone in the series Argentinian, man i miss they way they did their old videos. Hello to your new voice! Given that Junya Ishizaki was a level designer on *_Dark Souls,_* a level designer & battle designer for *_Bloodborne,_* and a combat designer for both *_Dark Souls III_* & *_Elden Ring_* this very much seem like the kind of game you'd WANT to make if those are your particular passions and why I can see Miyazaki recommending him to try his hand at directing. Most players won't play multiple builds or see the wode range of different types of combat that the games have to offer, so the "condensed RPG experience" and 8 highly disparate classes that amplify those playstyles is clesrly because that's what they're elevating. Co-op intended level of with procedurally generated Rogue-like content is what the Chalice Dungeons in *_Bloodborne_* are, so this is a natural evolution and he even refers to the meta upgrades being like Blood Gems in the Famitsu interview. *_Shadow of the Erdtree_* showed the difficulties of balancing for such a wide open range of playstyles, as well as starting to focus around bosses designed to have 3 players with Consort Radahn setting up with Thiollier & Ansbach. If anything, I would compare the game format to the survivor-like game *_Death Must Die_* - central hub world where you can talk to your different characters, each run starts you from Level 1, and you're getting RNG drops & upgrades and fighting bosses at predetermined timed intervals. The fact that it uses the Battle Royale circle and Day cycle rather than a timer is because it's combining a LOT of different types of inspiraiton designed at taking bits of familiar experiences from games and making something new from them. This is also precisely what it's doing by using the huge sandbox of assets, because think about it - as a person who worked on level design, battle design, & conbat direction for all those games, I'm pretty sure that this is the game he ALSO wants to play. He's taking a director role because leading that project aligns with his own interests & passions working on the games and he wants to bring those to players. I, for one, cannot WAIT for this and reslly hope I can land a spot in the Closed Network Test.
It definitely makes sense for a seasoned level designer to propose this idea. However, it’s pretty clear that the budget for this project was quite limited. That said, if the vast library of FromSoftware assets is used cleverly, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I genuinely hope the game succeeds, though, as it could help build confidence among FromSoftware’s financial partners to support more young directors with potential.
I agree with most of it, but Consort Radahn was definitely not designed for 3 players 😂 Having those two summons made the fight so much more difficult.
@@EVPointMaster I mean, all bosses scale their HP if you have external cooperators. That's why Messemer & Bayle have their cooperator summons inside the arena, so that those bosses don't scale up, but the final boss has Ansbach & Thiollier outside the arena. The point was that they purposefully implemented that final boss fight to incentivize having 3 characters in it, which makes it likely that some of the team was already working on battles balancing battles around 3 characters, which is the core design for *_Nightreign._*
@@PierceArner but they're not incentivising summons for Consort Radahn. They're doing the opposite. They gave Consort Radahn higher Coop HP scaling than normal. Even with buffs, healing incantations and the crystal tear for coop, I could only sometimes just barely get them through phase 1. And then I was left alone with a phase 2 that had about 1.7x as much HP as the entire fight has when I play solo.
@@EVPointMaster I summoned Ansbach & Thiollier for both the normal DLC and the DLC+ version of the fight on a NG+3 game before the Consort Radahn balance patches came through, so I am also speaking from my experience with it. It has to do with how you approach the fight, and what works to compliment your build based on the tactics that they use. Ansbach's burning attacks can reset a Frostbite proc to allow you to rapidly re-apply that status for getting the % damage burst as a way for chewing through his HP, on top of him also procing Bleed to do that as well, while Thiollier has Poison procs for DoT that you can use for various talisman boosts or convert into a damage burst with one of the new Ashes. They enable you to use a wider range of overlapping and complimentary tactics than just going at it solo. _Finding tactics to fight WITH them was what made it even more fun for me, and why I thought it was more interesting that way._ It's like slightly more refined version of the Radahn Festival, where it's MEANT to be a tough cooperative challenge. Because Radahn's Phase 2 has a grab attack that can be done twice before instantly defeating a cooperator, bursting through the Phase 1 by having him need to face multiple targets means that he now has a static animation for that grab, where as he's stopped in his animation, you can set up overlapping AoEs to burst more damage through him as soon as it ends. Those are the sorts of tactics that the 3 player approach enables just with two NPCs, which isn't as optimally as you can set up with actually having two other players. Better cooperation means that the additional HP boost being dialed up even beyond normal still gives you an advantage that's greater than what the boss gains. That's why *_Nightreign_* being more tightly balanced around 8 classes designed to be run in groups of 3 feels like an extension of things that they were already showing early stages of focusing on for implementation of at the end of *_Shadow of the Erdtree_* - and also why that works a lot better as a standalone game than trying to find a way to force that gameplay experience to fit within the base game. (I'm also speaking about this from a software development perspective, where the Consort Radahn fight looks like things that they've been working on, which also heavily foreshadow exactly what we see in *_Nightreign_* for its core game design. You can usually see hints at elements of the next project near the later development cycle content, but especially because of how Fromsoft maintains and updates their assets for new games).
Nightreign to me is what hyrule warriors is to zelda (not on the gameplay aspect) it's a less serious game made in order to just have fun, to just do some funny things and try new ideas, and I think that it's a good thing to reuse older bosses, because they will definitely be reworked and have new moves : Someone from the testers said that the centiped demon could fall apart into smaller pieces in order to fight each one of the 3 players, which sounds like a good idea And that brings us to DS2 bosses, imagine if we have a reworked pursuer that plays the role of the stalker bosses (apparently, some like margit will be in the game, chasing you down) it would be amazing... And just in general, a modernized fight against nameless king where we're faster, smoother with the controls and so does he? They've got me hyped Only issue for the moment is the fact that the network test exclude pc, I guess it's due to datamine, but still I'm a little bit sour about it because I wanted to try it, but else, I'm confident in what we're going to have
Looking forward for this. It imagine it like class reunion. All Souls Players from different eras and games come togather to re/discover old and new bosses. It could be epic!
i just really like to think that all of the exactly copied/reused bosses is part of the testing for another game, to see how the new combat and mechanics and stuff would turn out against the previous and known bosses
I'd want more multiple boss fights. Give me Artorias and Sif, Velstadt and Nashandra, or Gael with Friede. Yes I want psycho mode with bosses for once.
I'm super curious to see what bosses (or even just regular enemies) return in this, and any new or reworked moves they'll have. Also, given the seemingly wishy washy nature of the lore, this would be a cool opportunity for a proper Godwyn boss.
Hi Kami Sensei, could you do a tour of the Cathedral of Manus Metyr? I'm curious to see all the architectural details but it's so dark in there! As excellent of a tour guide as you are, I'm sure you can provide a well-lighted examination of the place!
The final boss of Elden ring: none other than the formidable Radagon of the Golden Order, who is also known as the Elden Beast. Now, let me tell you, this guy is not just your average run-of-the-mill boss; he's like the ultimate culmination of all the trials and tribulations you've faced throughout the game, wrapped up in a package of epic proportions! First off, Radagon is a character steeped in lore and mystery. He was once a champion of the Golden Order, a powerful warrior who wielded the power of the Elden Ring itself. Imagine a knight in shining armor, but instead of just saving the day, he’s out there breaking the rules of reality and bending the fabric of the universe to his will. He’s got this whole duality thing going on, representing both the male and female aspects of the god Marika, who is basically the big cheese in the Elden Ring universe. Now, when you finally face Radagon, you’ll quickly realize that he’s not just standing there looking pretty. Oh no! He’s got moves that would make even the most seasoned players break a sweat. He’s got a mix of melee attacks that can hit you from a distance, and some magical abilities that will have you questioning your life choices. You might think you’re ready for him, but trust me, he’s got a few tricks up his sleeve that will keep you on your toes. And just when you think you’ve got him down, he transitions into the Elden Beast! This is where things get really wild. The Elden Beast is like a cosmic entity that embodies the essence of the Elden Ring itself. It’s a massive, shimmering creature that looks like it just floated in from a different dimension, with attacks that are more unpredictable than your friend who always changes plans at the last minute. You’ll be dodging projectiles, dealing with massive area-of-effect attacks, and trying to find openings to strike while also managing your health and resources. It’s a test of endurance, skill, and a little bit of luck! In summary, facing Radagon and the Elden Beast is like going through the ultimate gauntlet of challenges, where every lesson you’ve learned throughout your journey comes into play. It’s not just about defeating a boss; it’s about overcoming the culmination of everything Elden Ring has thrown at you up to that point. So, gear up, summon your allies, and prepare for a showdown that will be etched in your memory forever! Good luck, Tarnished! The final boss of Nightreign: I’m Radahn again but blue RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Thanks for the info! While I'd rather have brand new enemies & bosses, I'm still intrigued by what this game will offer. Not a souls game, but takes place in the souls universe? We shall see
I'd play it if the single player is solid and sandbox settings can be tweaked, such as day length, loot, even mob density/difficulty. This actually has tremendous potential if they don't screw this up. This could be huge if they just give us options.
I'm strictly choosing to see Nightreign as a fun distraction in between whatever the next main series title Fromsoft is currently cooking up. I think the strong negative reactions stem mostly from general pessimism in the games industry as a whole. I understand that people are sick of the usual bs the AAA industry has been pulling as of late, but I know that I will likely not be disappointed with any game Fromsoft puts out, spin-off title or otherwise. Also great additions to the channel in both the art and voice, happy to see you continuing to expand your horizons!
I've always wanted Fromsoft to make a souls game built around co-op, so this is like a dream come true to me. I suspect by "8 characters" they are really talking about classes, but that the characters/classes in this game will just be more restricted than in previous games, more like Diablo and other rpgs like that, and there will still be a large amount of creativity when it comes to making builds. I do think the fact they are acting like each class is a specific character though, means we won't be able to customize appearance, which does make me quite sad. Also I also don't understand people acting like characters from previous games showing up is lorebreaking. The Lands Between were always treated as a kinda world-between-worlds type setting, I mean its literally in the name, so having some way to pass into it from the world of Dark Souls, isn’t really that crazy in my opinion, though I definitely never expected it to happen.
For a mostly pve player like me, Nightreing is a blessing, also turning Elden Ring into a "form" of Risk of Rain 2 is a sure buy for me... hell, i´ll even pre-order it! And who knows? if this project turns out to give pleasant results, they might even consider doing a fully pvp sandalone game too in the near future too!
I genuinely think this would be a good opportunity for Fromsoft to test out seamless co op and it sort of brings newcomers up to speed with fighting old bosses. There’s going to be much to learn and it’ll help for a better pve experience in a more free roam type of setting. It sounds awesome.
I’m very curious about Nightreign tbh. And I have only ONE hope for it and that’s having Cross Platform co-op (besides Gwyndolin in Elden Ring style). Because if it has then I’ll definitely want to buy it so I could play it with my friends whom are pc only (I’m playing from PS4)
The way I see it this game is basically FromSoft's attempt to scratch the randomizer mod itch. I'm 100% down for an official randomizer. Especially if enemies from previous games are making appearances. It'd be funny as fuck if they put Balteus in the game lol.
As a baby fromsoft player who started with elden ring i'm mega hyped. I feel like fromsoft is just giving what the community has been doing with mods. Also I know have an even better excuse to buy the souls serie
Fromsoft I swear you better allow solo players as many attempts at the main bosses as they want. If you don't do this then solo mode will be unplayable, mark my words.
Thoughts on the game? I'm curious and hopeful. I haven't played any of the games people are comparing it to, and can't judge whether or not I'll like the gameplay loop without actually being hands-on. A lot of it looks really cool, but that doesn't mean it's something I'll like, you know? Thoughts on the video? Mixed but positive. The trailer-and-prerelease-interview recap/analysis is ... sort of redundant when I've read most of the same articles and don't *really* care how upset at an alleged cash-grab others are, and it feels weird to *have* a voice, but here's the thing: you had me laughing for eight straight minutes. Adding a voice allows for a different tempo, different style of content, and I'm not sure how you could manage comedic timing so well without it. It's also impressive just how well the overall timing and inflection works to establish character for the narration, rather than a flat and neutral reading of the script. So, you know, kind of the same for both. "This is weird and not what I was expecting, but I think I like it and want to see more?" (final thought: It can be hard to know what someone's sense of humor is like before it's displayed, but maybe I shouldn't be surprised, given that I laugh at your channel banner every time I see it.)
the thing is, this game doesn't run on nostalgia either. thats not why people pay for this series. so to call nighreign a cash grab is just plain stupidity.
Great video, but Im not sure about the AI. Id rather hear you talk to a bad mic than listen to a text to speech bot. But I understand that you want to maintain this roleplay character, so I can look aside the AI voice. But the avatar being AI too, is a bit too much for me. It used a single pose for the entire video, only the mouth changed sometimes, Im sure you can get that comissioned by an artist for like 30 dollars max, and it will look miles better too. But even the moral stuff aside, AI just guts the integrity and authencity of the video. I dont want another channel where a cartoon style AI avatar is talking to me in an AI voice, that just makes me lost all interest in the video immediately. The souls youtube already has that full AI waifu ranni gooner bait channel, I dont want to see an authentic and worthwhile channel become another one of that.
Nightreign is slop and here is why PvP gone (would be great for boss invasions) Only 1 or 3 players, you cannot play with just two people. Same engine same shit netcode enjoy not having a 3rd and playing with Random from Russia Reused assets banking on Souls fans nostalgia. All condensed to the size of Lime grave. If you want to fight nameless king so bad there is a mod. They are copying other games (hero shooters/ Fortnite) their is no innovation in copying There will only be 8 bosses meaning 1-2 days of content, super fucking stale. Character customization gutted, no fashion souls, no build variety. Modders will port everything to actual Elden Ring. Same engine. 0 lore connections everyone has to have their multiverse/ alt timeline shit. So why Slap ER on title? It’s because without it won’t stand on own. Everything that is a souls game torn out for casual pay piggies to eat up with zero thought. Amazing 🎉
Artorias your friend Sif is waiting for you… and if you know how long he was waiting for you makes me cry all the time. 🐕🪦👈😭 God forgive me I have to do it again… I have to ignite artorias darkness by my divine power of my sword
Not a wild card for me. Love Elden rinG, been playing since release and I still play it. This Nightreign game is a definite no go for me, way off what I enjoy in a game. This will be a game I will not watch either, as it is uninteresting to me. If Sony gets in the way as major shareholder of Fromsoft a possibility exists where I will not be buying any future Fromsoft games. Especially due to the fact that I already cannot play Elden RinG online as Sony makes us have to pay for a subscription to Playstation Plus or we do not get to play online at all. I already pay for the internet and they want me to pay again, I am on fixed income and cannot afford to pay twice for the same thing. Sony pisses me off. there $700 PS5 is garbage. I would know as it continuously losses wifi and still no fix yet all other devices in my residence work perfectly. Had to replace a controller within the first six months. I have to go hungry to afford this. Sony is awful IMO. Always about taking more money from us, take take take. There controllers are a scam to make us have to replace them rather than have them repair their mistakes. All this tells me that Sony buying Fromssoft is bad for the gaming community.
People have to realize in an industry with massive budgets, they are being smart by using their resources effectively. I fear the fanbase is too spoiled at this point and expect new gourmet every time Miyazaki steps into the kitchen. It will be worse if they decide to finally move on from ARPGs like this and take risks making something new. I think they are by bringing back Armored Core and whatever their next IP will be. I've no idea what the lore channels will do as they struggled to adapt with Sekiro and caught off-guard by AC VI and had to catch up in terms of gameplay.
Love the decision of using a voice, especially because i dont know how to read
Indeed. The fonts were too small. Now I think the channel is a bit different from Zullie.
I've heard people nicknaming this "Risk of Reign" and that makes me even more hyped. This is like my 2 braincells collabing.
I'm definitely eager. I think people jump to negativity too early.

Gwyndolin voiced youtuber AND Ranni youtuber?! We are peaking tonight boys!
This voice borders on asmr I almost fell asleep. Is this ds3 fire keeper?
For a mostly pve player like me, Nightreing is a blessing, also turning Elden Ring into a "form" of Risk of Rain 2 is a sure buy for me... hell, i´ll even pre-order it! And who knows? if this project turns out to give pleasant results, they might even consider doing a fully pvp sandalone game too in the near future too!
What this game absolutely NEEDS is cross-play.
I genuinely think this would be a good opportunity for Fromsoft to test out seamless co op and it sort of brings newcomers up to speed with fighting old bosses. There’s going to be much to learn and it’ll help for a better pve experience in a more free roam type of setting. It sounds awesome.
Dude I love your videos and I think using a voice was a good choice, but plz don't become a second OnlyWaifu
I'm legitimately uncurious
Bed of Chaos 🛐
I like the mute texter better.
I would definitely buy Nightreign if we can fight ACs.
I’m praying for a brought back artorias or gherman
I’m very curious about Nightreign tbh. And I have only ONE hope for it and that’s having Cross Platform co-op (besides Gwyndolin in Elden Ring style).
Because if it has then I’ll definitely want to buy it so I could play it with my friends whom are pc only (I’m playing from PS4)
This ai voice is actually pretty decent, it’s not grating, annoying, or super loud
If I had a nickel for every Dark Souls/Elden Ring creator using AI voices, I'd have 4 nickels
The way I see it this game is basically FromSoft's attempt to scratch the randomizer mod itch. I'm 100% down for an official randomizer. Especially if enemies from previous games are making appearances. It'd be funny as fuck if they put Balteus in the game lol.
gurl is this your real voice? its so fucking smooth and soft
i happy there is a voice now , but i m not englinsh and have some trouble with oral ;(
As a baby fromsoft player who started with elden ring i'm mega hyped. I feel like fromsoft is just giving what the community has been doing with mods. Also I know have an even better excuse to buy the souls serie
im curoius whats teh mod for you tarnished
Maybe you'll appear in the next game
oh god hes freaky
Spooky voice, like it a lot
Ya earned yourself a sub
"This is weird and not what I was expecting, but I think I like it and want to see more?"
(final thought: It can be hard to know what someone's sense of humor is like before it's displayed, but maybe I shouldn't be surprised, given that I laugh at your channel banner every time I see it.)
gwyndolyn , will you also be in the Nightreign?
PLEASE ADD GWYNDOLIN!!! I BEG OF YOU Miyazaki! 🙏
the thing is, this game doesn't run on nostalgia either. thats not why people pay for this series. so to call nighreign a cash grab is just plain stupidity.
From never disappoints
Except on really minor details, like reused assets
@@donjandel dude, they save on the right ends. so its 100% justifyable for giving you a finished, mostly bug free game with an amazing experience.
Like that you're using a voice, why not use Gwyndolyn/Lothric AI voice? Goes with the avatar
3nd night and ishin the swordsaint gets revived Riding the demon of hatred hahaha
i mean....maybe its fun? maybe...
I love Gwyndolin though. I want him to be in Nightreign even if that means destroying him in terrible ways... with love obviously...
Cute voice❤
Nightreign is slop and here is why
PvP gone (would be great for boss invasions)
Only 1 or 3 players, you cannot play with just two people.
Same engine same shit netcode enjoy not having a 3rd and playing with Random from Russia
Reused assets banking on Souls fans nostalgia. All condensed to the size of Lime grave.
If you want to fight nameless king so bad there is a mod.
They are copying other games (hero shooters/ Fortnite) their is no innovation in copying
There will only be 8 bosses meaning 1-2 days of content, super fucking stale.
Amazing 🎉
Just saying I’m not a fan because of no pvp, souls games are only playable for so long against ai
It's just a new formula to try new things with low budget, they're probably not gonna do things like this with major projects
I know this is not of my business but are you a woman or a femboy or just a guy
A person ❤
@@donjandel respectfully I didn’t ask you
Artorias your friend Sif is waiting for you… and if you know how long he was waiting for you makes me cry all the time.
