This channel is about my love of inline skating.
I skated as a kid, burning through stoppers and wheels until there was nothing left! Those days were awesome!
Around 2008 I purchased a decent set of inline skates. I enjoyed rolling them but felt I wasn't good enough to do what I wanted on them, and felt a bit self conscious at almost 30! I dabbled, but didn't really get into it the way I'd hoped to, until recently, 10 years later!
In 2018 I took my kids to a skatepark. Never one to stand and watch, I donned the skates again. Taking inspiration from the online skate community, I decided to start my own channel.
I've never been the conventional type. The idea of growing old and slowing down doesn't compute with me.
You need to be sensible and respect your body, but that doesn't mean you stop playing just because you've reached a certain age.
For me, it's a combination of: movement, nutrition, rest, and self-awareness.
Move, play, know yourself, and be happy.

can you make a tutorial video on how to improve the stride i've really been searching for specific exercices but can't find any
What wheels do you use for very rough asphalt? The paved surfaces where I live (the UK) are generally disintegrating and very rough. After about an hour of skating, my 85A wheels are already pretty chewed up. Do you have any recommendation for wheel hardness in these conditions?
Nah, I skate any terrain with the wheels I’m using. For me, skating is about freedom of movement. I can’t have that if I’m trying to micromanage all of the variables.
I like your all videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Thank you! 🙏 😁
Now it is my new hobby ❤
Superb! 👍
Can you tell me the difference between soft boot(oxelo fit500) and hard boot (oxelo mf500) ??
I’ve never tried the FIT500, but I imagine, aside from the soft boot and softer wheels, they would be similar. I’ve never skated a soft boot before so I’m not sure how much support these would offer.
Awesome!
One time i get clung with a car and reached 120 km/h , have you tried it ?😅
I’ve never tried it! I be likely to fall down a pothole! 🙈
I am UK 9 size. What size should I choose for these skates?
I am also a UK9 but opted for EU44, which is UK9.5. 👍
@@RichHayterSkater Thank you for your answer! I've done some research and it appears that EU 43 and 44 have same size as for the plastic boot, only difference is the inner boot which will break in eventually.
@Buzzilio_ Good to know. Just be cautious… when it comes to skating, comfort is King! Uncomfortable skates can really put you off! If you have a local store, try them on, otherwise it may be worth ordering 2 sets and returning 1 set if you can.
what is the point to buy it? When u just can walk fast around the streets
Yes, but skating is so much more fun! 😁
Hi there, purchased mf500 im out of skating world for 20 years. Where i can buy the spacer for the wheels??? I want to purchase complete wheels to Change it more easy.
Do you mean the axel bolts for the wheels? If so, you would need to switch out the entire frame as these frames do not have threaded axel holes. This was a complaint I had with these skates I ,initially, as having to use two Allen keys was frustrating. However, I’ve since learned that most of the time, I can use a single Allen key and simply press my thumb against the opposite side to stop it rotating. There are very few occasions now when I require twoAllen keys. I hope the helps.!👍
@@RichHayterSkater thank you so much for the quick answer. I really enjoying seeing your videos. I mean the spacer inside the wheel, between the bearings. I really want to try out other set of wheels, without changing bearings from one to another.. The axel itself and the bold, doesnt bother me that much. BTW what you recommend as chassis replacement? It could be an option having 2 chassis and different wheel sizes.... Do you recommend 90mm ? Or even try Tri 110mm?
Thank you!🙏 I understand what you mean. I don’t think you need to purchase a specific type of spacer, any regular spacer you can buy online from a skate retailer should work with these. As for frames, 3x110 is ok but my personal favourite is 4x90 rockered. It’s a versatile setup that offers a nice blend of speed and manoeuvrability, and it’s a lot of fun!
hi may ik if ure using sliding wheels or reg /grippy ones?
These are regular FR 85a wheels that came with these skates.
are grippy wheels better for this case or sliding wheels?
Most wheels will slide so long as you get your wheels to a low enough angle , but I tend to use between 85a-88a. I think these were 85a wheels.
Superb. Well done sir.
💯✨️😎
Nice! My fastest has been 23km/h
👍
Hey Rich, which liner do you use? Nice Video👍
This is a Seba liner from my FR1s of old, but it still works great! I do plan to replace it with an Intuition in the future.
Hi how is the lack of toe protection? Are you able to recommend those skates?
I have no issues with the lack of toe protection, as for if I recommend them or not…? It’s too soon to say. They’re too expensive to make a snap call on. They’ll be thoroughly reviewed when I’m in Valencia in the near future.
@@RichHayterSkater All I want to know is - are they super fun?
I’m not denying they are fun, but are they more than a set of skates at a fifth of the cost? I’m not so sure.
@@RichHayterSkater i was hyped for them, maybe shouldn’t be then
@andrekucharzyk9706 This is just my experience so far. As I said, it’s not that they’re not good, they are super-comfortable for sure, but perhaps I expected too much from. Time will tell.
I learned on a flat setup but the first time i tried rockered i couldn't stop smiling lol the way you can move is insane, and i don't like going ridiculously fast anyway so it's a no brainer for me
Exactly! 👍
I had the same filling, after three years on flat set up decided to try rocker frame. I was literally laughing.
😂👍
Would you still recommend these? They're going for about 105€ atm, or have you seen a better pair out there?
Yes, these are great skates for the price! I always recommend these to new skaters! 👍
@@RichHayterSkater This or the Powerslide Next 80's? 🤔
I'm not necessarily a beginner, a bit rusty, yes. But I've really used my Lidl fitness skates, so much that the cuffs are loose, and I need new skate's haha.
Flat setup?
Yes, flat 4x80.
rockered for slalom is definitely better, in city skating though, I really want the stability but really its up to you and your skill level. for me personally, I tried it and it really is very different, its super easy to turn and just glide around, even transitions are so much better, but when you encounter even small uphills and downhills, it becomes quite unstable. but it may just take some time to get used to. keep in mind though that you are going to be slower compared to flat or natural rocker. because your standing on only 2 wheels. and the wobble yes... the speed wobbles... its not fun. and I want to go fast >:)
I agree with what you say here. Another point to note is that all rockered frames are not equal and some will be more suited to urban skating than others.
Fruit boots
😍😍😍😍😍👋
No way nardinis!!! Hope you got a good ice cream after all that hard work!
I didn’t, but I defo should have! 😁
Awesome ❤💪
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
4x90 rockered is awesome for urban, not sure I’d want to do a marathon in them though. Budget shell with custom frame is a smart setup.
They’re not the optimum setup for a marathon, but they’ll be a good blend for me over that weekend. I’ll be travelling light! 😁
This "once you go rocker you never go back" is a myth from the rocker manufacturer. I used the endless 100 for 6 months and completely stopped. In my opinion, they are bad for pushing, bad for breaking, worse for controlling the slides and (at least for me) promote the bad habit of staying high with straight legs. I don't see much difference in maneuverability, especially in urban skating, but it might be cause I tend to get the same maneuverability with straighter legs.
Thanks for your comment, it’s always interesting to hear different opinions. I always felt that these would be good for wizard tricks and not much else, but I was surprised. The longer frame really put me off, but the rocker changes how this feels completely. I tried rolling my 3x110 recently, which has a 253mm wheel base, and they felt so rigid in comparison. I don’t recommend rockers for beginners, and I’ll still roll a flat setup quite happily, but I personally see a lot of benefits to this type of setup for urban skating.
mf500 going strong, lets go!. can't wait to get my rockered setup
It’s a game changer! 👍
Hey you're in my hometown!! You seem to travel to Spain quite a bit! Love to watch your stuff.
Thank you, I love Spain, it’s a fantastic place to be! And Madrid is a tremendous city, we’ll defo be back again, for sure! I’ll be in Valencia very soon! Can’t wait! 🇪🇸☀️😁
cool
Nice, I was wondering about this setup. This is a great video. I was really wondering.. if i should first increase my skill for skating before investing in the setup. I still need to learn properly backwards and great stocking techniques.. If you would give advise... first regular mf500's then invest for better setup? 😄 Maybe I will treat myself one a gift once I have mastered backwards and sliding stop etc. This gives me something to look forwards😉Also gives me more strenght of skill... as it seems less stability and wobly is not something i am looking for yet. Great video. No helmet anymore :)?
I would stick with a basic flat setup until you’re comfortable with the basics, this would be my advice. Then treat yours to something you like! 😁 I still wear a helmet but it wouldn’t fit in my case! 🙈😂
This was a very chill watch, and thank you for shining some more light on rockers; for me one day, but living in the hilly place I do, the longer frames might be a good idea!
I was skeptical, but these defo changed the way I felt about longer frames. The rocker is the key to this, however. 👍
💯💯💯💯💪💪nice
May I ask what wheel size is this? My 80mm looks slow compared to this
90/80/80/90. 90s at front/back, 80s in the middle.
I'm subscriber.... you b
When you are climbing a hill and you are doing the "Marching Penguin" or the "Teddy Bear": it's definitely steep enough to start worrying about how you're getting down.
Yes, if you’re not sure about how to get back down, I’d defo start with a smaller hill!
no longer using the 490 rockin setup? Great music though and vibes! Would love to invite you some time to NL skate event!
That would be cool, thanks! 👍 Yes, I’ll defo still be using the Rockin’490, it’s my favourite frame! 👌
I also skate but how do you not fall over pebbles?
Just try to avoid them.
Very well explained! Thank you. Let's see how this goes... 🤪
Hope it helps! 👍
@@RichHayterSkater Thanks! The POV shots are particularly helpful - not seen that from other tutorials - makes a lot of sense.

Hey there! 🎥 First of all, thanks for the great video! 👍 I really enjoyed it. However, I've noticed that when I try to do the magic slide, it automatically becomes a power slide. 😕 Can you please help me out and let me know what the problem might be
You need to drill the Soul slide first! If you check out the video associated with this one, it’ll take you to some Magic slide tips!
You have convinced me to get a pair of these. My four year old daughter has been begging me to teach her how to ice skate, but we don't really have the climate or facilities for that, so this looks like the next best thing.
It’s what being an Awesome Dad is all about! 😁👌
You should do a video on how to skate safely on Britain's dilapidated, cratered, refuse-strewn, practically-dirt roads.
I hear ya! 😂
Hey man great review on these! Also I love your flow you just make it look effortless. I’m considering buying these skates and I’m split between the 4x80 setup or the 3x110. I’m a total beginner, only ever skated on skateboard before, so the sensible thing would be to start on smaller wheels… but the thing is here in my town roads are very rough and often made of cobbles. I own an e-board with 96mm wheels and it can often get uncomfortable due to the rough surfaces, so I’m not really sure how the 80mm setup would handle. I would mainly use this skate for cruising, some commuting and exploring, so I really wouldn’t want something that limits me. Another question I have is about sizing. Decathlon only has these available online so I can’t really try them on. Would you say that the boot size matches the one of normal shoes? Thank you
Thanks, I’m glad the review I’m has peaked your interest in these skates. My thoughts here are that, if you’re new to inline skating you’d be better off learning on a flat 4x80. 3 larger wheels will feel more efficient when cruising and may help to smooth out those cobbles, but they will feel less agile, which is an important factor when negotiating rougher ground. Wrt sizing: if go a half size up if you can.
What's up ❤❤❤ nice😊😊😊 Broooo.....hit

how long have you been skating to become this good?
Been skating seriously since 2018, but if you’re skating regularly, I’d imagine you’d be pretty confident in 2-3 years if you’re a complete beginner. There are lots of factors here, obviously, but try to enjoy the journey, there’s lots to get excited about when learning to skate.
@@RichHayterSkater thats not even that long! I am motivated! Going for a lot this summar. Currently can't do long activities as my back mussles are weak and after 10 minutes i need rest haha. But keep motivated to skate 3/5x a week for a hour or do 🙃
