    Im an experienced skater and I really enjoyed your review! I've owned some 3x110 FR3s that I dont really like too much. After seeing your flow on these I'm more motivated to give them a try again. It really seems like you're getting a lot from the edges on the bigger wheels. Your flow is incredible, very similar to Bill Stoppard but faster and more nimble. Super cool to watch you skate all over these rough surfaces. The bigger wheels really suit your style. Amazing to watch.

    • @RichHayterSkater

      Hey, thank you for your comment!
      As I mentioned in the review, I was never that interested in 3x110, but these skates genuinely surprised me.
      When I received them, I made a commitment to use them exclusively for several months, to give myself a chance to really get to know them. As it turned out, they ended up becoming one of my favourite skates!
      You should defo give them another go. If I recall, the FR 310s use a shorter frame, which I personally think would make them quick and nimble. I’d like to try that frame!
      Good luck! Let me know how you get on. 👍

    Hello! I have been using the mf 900 for 15 months (I prefer them to my other powerslide next 4x80 skates) because they are stable, quite agile (no 40 with frame 247), relatively fast once they take off during the start. I ride 4 days a week for about 15 kilometers. Because I go down with T brake on big downhills, they rubbed.I turned the wheels inside out and crossed .
    I'm thinking of putting 88a hardness spinner wheels and abec 9 bearings. What do you know? I watch your videos, I enjoy them.
    Thank you, Asterios , Thessaloniki, Greece

    • @RichHayterSkater
      @RichHayterSkater  2 роки тому +5

      Thanks for watching. The 88a and new bearings might give you a bit of extra speed. You should maybe try to carve downhill to avoid using the T stop so much, this might give you some extra wheel life; I made a video about speed control on hills. 👍

I don't think that the Powerslide skates are much better the Oxelo especially considering the price I paid for the PS. 290 euros! Hey Rich, I´ve just finished watching your reviews for both MF500 and MF900.. I just got a pair of the MF500 but I just realised that de 900 are on sale in my city so I'm considering making the change. I'm not very experienced with inline skating, I used to skate in my teenage years but nothing extreme, and now I'm planning on getting back to it so I would like to kindly ask for your opinion on what skates to use, should I stick to the MF500 I already have (haven't used them yet) or would you advise me to not miss the offer and go for the 900?

    Hey man great review on these! Also I love your flow you just make it look effortless. I’m considering buying these skates and I’m split between the 4x80 setup or the 3x110. I’m a total beginner, only ever skated on skateboard before, so the sensible thing would be to start on smaller wheels… but the thing is here in my town roads are very rough and often made of cobbles. I own an e-board with 96mm wheels and it can often get uncomfortable due to the rough surfaces, so I’m not really sure how the 80mm setup would handle. I would mainly use this skate for cruising, some commuting and exploring, so I really wouldn’t want something that limits me. Another question I have is about sizing. Decathlon only has these available online so I can’t really try them on. Would you say that the boot size matches the one of normal shoes? Thank you

    • @RichHayterSkater
      @RichHayterSkater  3 місяці тому

      Thanks, I’m glad the review I’m has peaked your interest in these skates.
      My thoughts here are that, if you’re new to inline skating you’d be better off learning on a flat 4x80.
      3 larger wheels will feel more efficient when cruising and may help to smooth out those cobbles, but they will feel less agile, which is an important factor when negotiating rougher ground.
      Wrt sizing: if go a half size up if you can.

  • @mattenv

    Hi, i watched your reviews and im not sure whether i should go for MF500 or MF900, so i have two questions. 1. Which pair gives you more stability? 900s make you taller, which decreases stability, but does the longer frame compensate for that? 2. How about speed? It makes sense that it is easier to gain speed on 3x110mm wheels than 4x80mm, but is the maximum speed for both pairs the same? Do you notice significant differences between avg. speed during session on these two skates?

    • @RichHayterSkater
      @RichHayterSkater  Рік тому +1

      Hey! I’ll answer your questions then give you my opinion.
      1. Regardless of frame length, I’d say the MF500 gives you a tad more stability for general skating, and definitely so for tricks, stairs, jumps, etc, due to their height.
      In terms of speed, you’ll accelerate quicker off the mark with the MF500 before the MF900 catches up, but it will probably reach a slightly lower top speed than the MF900, and it will take more effort to maintain that speed. The MF900 excels at cruising at speed and, once you get used to them, your foot speed and acceleration will catch up quick! Jumps, slides, transitions are all fine once you get used got the extra height, but I still find stairs to be a wee bit sketchy, mainly due to the fewer points of contact with the ground, and the larger gaps between the wheels.
      I rate both skates but would say, if you’re a beginner or want them mainly for bombing around, jumping, doing some tricks or even some wizard skating, choose the MF500, and if you’re competent and are keen for something a bit quicker, you might opt for the MF900.
      I hope this helps! Happy rolling!👍

  • @mogsta
    @mogsta Рік тому

    I love your reviews of both the MF500 and MF900. I'm a total newbie, so ended up buying the 500s. Two question though: 1) are the bigger wheels on the 900 more capable on rougher surfaces? 2) could you put the longer frames and bigger wheels on the MF500 boots in the future?

    • @RichHayterSkater
      @RichHayterSkater  Рік тому +2

      Kinda, and Yes.
      The larger wheels will roll quicker and will be less affected by pumps and small stones, but I don’t feel they are as good to learn on as the smaller 4x80 setup. In the future, you can mount the larger 3x110 frame in the MF500 boot. 👍

    Hey Rich. Contemplating a purchase, but I'm split between The Oxelo MF500 and The Seba E3 80. I know the Oxelo's are good because I'm currently rolling MF500's so I'm contemplating selling them and buying another pair, but I don't know if I should buy the Seba E3 80's instead. They're similarly priced, but I can't find any reviews on them. Your opinions?

    • @RichHayterSkater
      @RichHayterSkater  2 роки тому

      I can’t comment on the E3 as I’ve never used them. They do seem like a decent spec for the price, and they come with rockerable frame, which is a nice touch. You’re paying a bit extra for them, but I’d say if you’re happy them, just go for it. That said, you probably won’t notice much difference between them and the MF500, so it might be worth going for the MF900 since it’s 3x110.

      I recommend these as an inexpensive way to get into skating, but if you’re happy spending more then something from Rollerblade, FR, Seba, or Flying Eagle would provide you with a better liner and bearings.

    The 2 piece axles are a bummer for sure.. It's annoying carrying 2 skate tools and trying to thread axles. One piece axles can't possibly cost much more to produce considering all the other good components they use such as a tapped aluminum mount
    The liner seems to have a neoprene toe which is nice.
    I agree the straps look very thin and flimsy even though the rachet looks higher quality than the mf500.
    For $100 bucks that's insane and makes anyone question paying double or triple for 3wd skates from rollerblade or fr skates

    • @RichHayterSkater
      @RichHayterSkater  Рік тому

      I didn’t like them either at first, but I’m used to them now; you don’t really need to use both tools, you can manage with one most of the time.
      I think most of the cost would be associated with threading the frames, but I could be wrong.
      You’re right, for the price, it’s a well-spec’d skate, and I have found myself questioning whether I’d ever need another 3x110mm, when the MF900 is so solid.

      The only thing I can see being a downfall is the shell has a lot of cut outs, this usually leads to cracked shells where something like a twister is a one piece with very few areas for ventilation, but we are talking about dry rotted plastic issues that should still last 5+ years minimum.

Интересно было бы понаблюдать и посравнивать результаты с кем либо, имеется ли у вас strava ?

    Thanks for the review, exactly what I was looking for ! I have pretty wide feet, and have just bought a pair of these, do you think they’ll be ok with wide feet ?

      I couldn’t say for certain, as I’ve never measured my foot width, but I am inclined to say these would be fine.
      The liner isn’t the thickest, so that should help, too.

      @TrailMonki Go for it! Just accept the learning curve, and try not to be dissuaded when you hit those stumbling blocks. If you stick with it, I can promise you will not regret it!
      Enjoy the journey! 👍😁
