@@betweenthesharksgarage you know what? A small block chevy would fit in there, would have to make some mods and stuff but that would make that a pretty cool truck too. But that model you have there was very popular back in the 1980's, when I was a kid they were every where you went, I'm sure there has to be a few around for parts. Put out the energy and it will come...lol But you got a gem there, dont give up on it.

Nice job! I'd try a boat gas tank and hook that up to the carb. Get it up to operating temp. Re check the torque on the head bolts when it cools. Then see how bad the carb is for a rebuild. It might be cheaper just to buy a chinesium carb off ebay? Sounds like it is hitting on all 4 to me. Double check your motor mounts, alot of rotation when it hit. I bet the compression comes around.

I had the opportunity to operate one of these last week. It was great for moving mulch but because of the way the joy sticks are I found it would be difficult to grade with because it’s hard to control the bucket and drive at the same time. Nothing like a bobcat or dingo

i does get easier with time. but the controls are a little tricky that way... technically you rerout the lines to the valves maybe add another stick to so the 2 drive controls were next to each other like a dingo? its all about the work you need to do and how often i suppose. the dingos start at 10 times the cost of these so its all about what investment you need to make

These vids are coming along, man. Thanks for sharing this wholesome awesomeness. When I was back in Aotearoa/NZ recently (COVID refugee), I rescued a Toyota Hilux-a cool little rig and a fun project. The amount of work was similar to what you’re tackling now, though I reckon your's put up a bigger fight! She'll come around man. Now I’ve returned to Australia and broke as hell, so I’m rescuing only what I can get my hands on. Which means JUNK. So far, I’ve brought back to life a ‘76 Land Rover (great vehicle, but wouldn’t recommend), two Yamaha Viragos (honestly, the best bikes I’ve ever worked on), and now going through a ‘58 Vauxhall Victor F Series (the closest thing we have to a Chevy over here). True story you might enjoy: a few years ago, I was renting a place with this tiny, collapsing garage abandoned in the backyard. I used my Honda CRV (just picked an angle and pushed the nose to it and drove slowly in low ratio) to push the structure upright and hold it in place while I replaced the structural timber. Sketchy isn't even close. Then I sorted out the disappeared roof tin. Used found plywood and the cool-looking rusted roof tin I pulled off to line it (insulated even with some pink batts I found on the roadside-fancy af). I also installed a big, awesome window I picked up from a curb. I was an electrician in a former life, so I wired it out really nicely too. It turned out to be a great little workshop-just enough space for a small car and two bikes, vintage tools, a good bench, and an old record player. I should have made that one into a UA-cam vid for real.

looking at the rust line on the engine block I would say this engine (along with the vehicle it was attached to at the time) was in the water and got flooded out. The valve stems bent when someone tried to start the waterlogged engine.
