One tip I can share , when you are grading ..find a good level on you bucket . As you grade don't tilt or dump your bucket , leave material in the bucket as you grade. Doing that ,you never have to find bucket level , and material in the bucket will help prevent digging in...only lift the bucket up and down. It will save you time and make it easier to hold grade and smooth the surface..

Quite easy if you try hard enough. Sharpen your skills in grading, blade control/float the blade etc. Also their is so so many attachments for these mini skid steers. Also once you get comfortable enough to the point of turning this into a full-time situation. You can start to market your services, Nextdoor, Fart Book, heck even some other apps that provide leads can help. No I'm not a paid advertisement nor anything of that sort. I'm just a solo dude in central Southern North Carolina that does this on the side. Also insurance is pretty cheap depending on what level you business needs.

But I am seeing it buy my time back … I ll never be above using a shovel But the improvement I made took 2 hours, not 12. And thanks man
Use a saws all with a long and aggressive wood blade for those sporatic roots. Works very good to clear up your path. They cut through dirt and roots well.
Really dig the variety of the channel. Its a shame im so far from you. Im a retired carpenter with a car obsession . I goggled your burger place. Its 6 hours north of me. So rock on anyway.

I have a toro dingo and I use it a lot out here in Arizona and all I have is rocks over the years I struggled with leveling but the best thing I could recommend is buy a leveler Titan sells a leveler for that little skid steer that you have And it's much easier to shave off little by little Then to use the bucket, the bucket tends to dig in the ground and take out too much dirt at a time you going to find the leveler is going to shave off little by little ,then you can move it with the bucket later on,anyway it's fun to play in the dirt I'm 70 years old and I'm still playing in the dirt.
Doing a great job Ryan. The machine might be small and not quite right for the job, but it’s done a hell of a job so far. The place is night and day to when you bought it. Just keep chipping away. A lot of small wins will get you there! 👍🏼

I had the opportunity to operate one of these last week. It was great for moving mulch but because of the way the joy sticks are I found it would be difficult to grade with because it’s hard to control the bucket and drive at the same time. Nothing like a bobcat or dingo
i does get easier with time. but the controls are a little tricky that way... technically you rerout the lines to the valves maybe add another stick to so the 2 drive controls were next to each other like a dingo? its all about the work you need to do and how often i suppose. the dingos start at 10 times the cost of these so its all about what investment you need to make
Hey man! Use the dozer blade on your red excavator to finish your job. It’ll be easier, it’s made for that ;) The excavator will also remove roots with the thoots of the bucket
that is good advice, but i ll say this for anyone looking for advice or considering buying one of these machines... so the little excavator has a lot of strong points... driving smoothly as a single pump is not one of them. The other issue is it's weight... or lack of it i should say. At 1.3 tons, it gets into a serious battle with roots... the machine is more than strong enough to pull itself over, if the tree root is strong enough to hold a 1000 pounds a pulling force... and a lot of them can... cause if they didnt there would be a lot of big heavy trees falling over more often
@ I had a Bobcat 323 before which is supposed to be better but it was still jerky AF with the track controls. Also, if you’re pulling on anything it will tend ton make itself fall over. Did you try to push the blaze down on the round before pulling on the roots? When you dig on any hard soil, you’re supposed to put the dozer blade in the direction you’re digging and push it downward until you feel yourself getting pushed up just a bit. Maybe that’s obvious sorry if that’s the case but I felt like sharing what I learned in case you didn’t know. Also keep on bringing the content it’s fun and you’re charismatic! Mat

Just fine. It’s like all of the machines I imagine. It’s a matter of balance and understanding where the surface of the tracks are. But it will climb a hill steep enough to tip over backwards if you try it

You could try to grade with a full bucket. It adds more mass to the machine and its easier to push though hard stuff.
i did a little of that and its a good tip for sure... but still when i hit the roots, it was a dead stop and tracks would just spin

I wonder if your excavator would havw enough ass to hook to the roots and pull them out ? And would it be heavy enough to pack down your graded area ?

Looks like you could use about (6) 18 yd trucks of fill to start with. Don't disturb tree roots. Roots keep the tree from falling on your house.......
what happens if you eat a big breakfast or lunch first .... you know, to add a little more counter weight to the back of the machine? 🤔
