I have rediscovered skating after 35 years off! Now at 51 years old I am HOOKED and couldn’t stop even if I wanted to.
Transition skating is my PASSION and preference for the LOWER impact.
If you are considering getting back into skating then DO IT immediately. Like literally today. We are NEVER TOO OLD to keep skating or begin skating. The boost in MENTAL and PHYSICAL health since I started back has been life changing.
So head out right NOW! Trust me. You will be glad you did. But for God sakes wear pads!
I usually post Monday and Wednesday at 3 PM Eastern Time. Occasionally Friday evenings. Sometimes Tuesday. Thursday is definitely an option. Sunday might also work. 😜

That was a fun video. Skate long and prosper. 🖖
That was a fun video. Skate long and prosper. 🖖
Just got my Swampy Wide Boy the other day. The size truly is wild in person! 😂 Not fully set up yet, but I can't wait!
I ran across a skater at the park 2 days ago and he was skating the wide boy shell raiser and it was wild. He let me ride it a moment and wow. Like I was skating on a sheet of ply wood! 😆👊
Those rock fakies at the end are making me feel a lot more comfortable for you... really commit to middle of the board and rocking it now stevie as it gives you heaps more leverage when you hit that tail down to clear the front. axles are on point!!
Such a good entrance to the video
Thanks! I try to make it different each time for variety sake. 😀
Where in Indiana do u live big dawg? I'm near ft. Wayne
I went to high school in Fort Wayne but I’m down near Indy now days. 👊
Hell yeah dude. Btw on your analysis, you were always over shooting. Try do it so that you feel like you are still sideways in the bowl. Like you are pretty much planting front foot back in but not quite in the bowl.
So is my mind and weight more in the bowl than on top of the coping?
@@StevesSkateXplosion 100% correct, it will feel odd at first because there is less opportunity to stall, but once you get the lock in it will be way better. Also much less risk of clipping your back truck when you go back in. I suggest trying to ride up to almost the top of the ramp, lift the kick as though you are about to kick turn back down, tap just the front truck on the coping, turn back in straight away. Then slowly progress that to bringing the back truck up to while changing nothing about the front. Love the progress mate keep it up!!
Man, awesome job on that last combination, it looked great! Really impressed with that jump off the hubba, that was pretty freaking cool. I thought you were going to go for a rock to fakie pump over that spine, you got to get that on the list. That would be over the top cool! Still took some nerves for the rock to fakies on it, not much landing zone on top of that thing! Keep it going!!
I’m heading back to see about locking in the tail stall and rock n roll because that would then be a 4 trick string! 👊
@@StevesSkateXplosion That looked like a great place to do those combinations. I used to be able to tail stall when I skated with my son in my 50's, but I'm not back there yet. I would love to try that spine on the inlines, that one didn't look too bad.
staying active into our later years is so important for longevity and mental acuity. keep on shredding!
Nah that last was was beautiful
rip tommie
yeah mate!!!! nice!!!
This guy has got me skating again
Are you serious dude? You’re back?! 👊
@@StevesSkateXplosion absolutely mate, your enthusiasm is contagious
YESSIR!!!
Keep the shoulders over coping
Rip Tommie
Nice man, get it ❤
loving this Axles stalls, @StevesSkateXplosion did you take any lessons from a coach?
I took a lesson from one of the guys at Q to help with Rick to Fakies but that was it. Basically he spotted me until I got it.
Steve dude ,I'm fully on the edge of my chair just getting stoked watching your progression, your quirky antics are just a bonus, your probably an astronaut or a sasquatch enthusiast in your regular beat.
Dude so glad you like my silly videos! 👊😆
Awesome! And my Nano Cubic dragon formulas are arriving around lunchtime! Keep on Rolling!
@@SabcatPrinting dude you gotta tell me if I should get some too! 👊
i absolutely love these wheels man... i cannot change to another
Theyve arrived and theyre fitted. Cant wait to try slap up a curb!
@@SabcatPrinting u are going to love them.
Stoked!!
Solus ollie bud
Well done! Looked pretty good to me!
That axle stall was practically a 5050 grind wasn’t it? I need to go back and rep that out to get my timing down so I stay still.
Majors Taylor’s! Keep killing it dude
You skate there too?
@@StevesSkateXplosion yessir mostly fridays and saturdays
Love it
If you go faster, just angle it a bit more and grind it out.
Right that’s a pretty sweet place for 5050s too!
Is this by the melodrome, majors skatepark in indy? I used to skate there before all that graffiti if so. Im 46 as of the 30th of july. Id come skate somwtime with you.
You’re exactly right. Just off 38th by Marion college.
@StevesSkateXplosion we should skate sometime, not many older guys go at the same time lol
@StevesSkateXplosion I live in bloomington by lake Monroe, we have a couple of good parks also
@@Hoosierdaddyjones812 yeah I tend to go alone because I gotta focus on my vids. But we should meet up sometime. I need to get to Greenwood. I hear that’s super good. Hunger park built it.
@StevesSkateXplosion last time I was in greenwood, all they had was fabricated ramps with metal by the school park. Be nice to check that one. If you get a weekend day or morn to go I'm down.
"And that dude was here to see it!"
He didn’t even congratulate me! 😆🤪
That was a feeble grind, you moved. More impressive than an axle stall anyway. Keep shredding dude.
Yeah I didn’t mean to move. I need to go back tomorrow and fix that! 😀
awesome!!! im 28 and too scared to get back on a board lol proud of you for getting out there brother!!!
Have you been thinking about skating again?
That coping is no joke for beginners 😅 I finally tried practicing on like a 3ft drop in and bailed so bad. Going to wait til I get a helmet before killing myself on that lol
Dude wear every pad you can! Accidents sneak up on us when we least expect it. 😀
😊 I don't want to sound rude but when I was watching this the first time I seriously thought you were a kid and then it panned you and I'm like well that's an old dude lol😂
Oh yeah I’m super old! Going on 52! 😆
Great stuff man!
YEAH BRO! you got it! Bet that made you feel real good!!!
It’s a great spot because the transition is mellow so it doesn’t feel like I’m standing on the edge of a cliff.
Absolutely love watching your progress I've only just manged these on a 3ft still struggling on the 5ft
That particular 5 is awesome because it’s mellow and doesn’t feel like I’m standing on the edge of a cliff, you know.
@@StevesSkateXplosion very nice will have to find something similar
💕👏👍Nice! PS- I still remember my 1st, she was beautiful 🤣
Heck yeah! Your axle stalls are so sweet!
Nice roll off the hubba!
It’s crazy how fast it feels from my perspective, but when I watch the video later, it doesn’t look that risky at all
Coping conundrums quashed while you wait. 🫡
Do you sing at all? Have to admit was pleasently surprised by your speaking voice which is usually a good sign
Thanks bro but my voice is only good at speaking and not good at singing. Sadly.
Amazing Steve great to see those lines really coming together 🔥🤙🏻
5:40 ish Graffiti from Another World....Steve, I'm gonna try dropping in again today with several different boards. I'll video & post it. I can't stand the peer pressure 😆
Dude bro you can totally do it big time!! Have someone spot you, worse case. 👊😀
@@StevesSkateXplosion Tonight, its gonna Happen !! Great to hear from U
Would venture 5.2 (8"axel) be too narrow. I'm 48 lol and ride a 8.1 right now but want a h street hensley but 8.9 and I'm a small dude 5ft 6 150 and big boards are dope and all but I love my v lights 8" all broken in w med bones bushings etc and love the squeak . On the strength of that what do u think? Some new deal decks are amazing but over 9" I just dont know . I also ride 50 to 52 mm bones . I love slimeballs too 53 mini vomits 97 nice small but chunky and slide. ✌🏻💨 peace and good energy from 732Nj
Hey dude I think at your height and shoe size you’d be good in the 8.25 to 8.5 inch deck range. Going bigger than 9” might feel like you’re skating a surfboard.
Great video as always Steve! Your progress is unreal and your love of skateboarding is infectious. It's scary doing anything on a spine like that but you smashed it
Bro that’s super nice of you to say. 👊😀
You kill one coping out of 10 for insubordination?
anime spray art at the beginning very apropos, I believe you would've been in junior high when it came out. Lum from Urusei Yatsura if I'm correct...
I just put the same dragons and bone reds on my board yesterday. I'm also learning to skate at 41 YO. I guess, I learned how to ollie yesterday. But I need to check the video record.
Dude that’s super awesome! I’m thrilled you’re back to making skater gains again. 👊
