You are doing awesome! I use another type of 187 hand protectors and today after work I slammed one time hard on the hand. Boy, they really protected my hand so much. Didn’t wear any protection a skating when I was a teen, but now it is so helpful.

I used to be fairly off and on with various pads. Sometimes I wouldn’t wear elbow pads or wrist guards. And of course when I didn’t wear them I’d slam my elbows hard. Now I wear everything I’ve got every single time. Heck, it would feel weird to me without part of my gear on these days. I’m just so used to it now.

Loving the channel, thanks for the inspiration! I'm 52 and currently getting back into skating after about a 30 year layoff. I tried to get my son to skate when he was little but he never got into it, preferred other sports and video games etc. Now that I'm an empty-nester though I have time to commit to skating again. My first comeback attempt was actually a couple of years ago, I fell not wearing pads and sprained my wrist. I went to Urgent Care to make sure it wasn't broken and you should have seen the eye roll on the older nurses face when she asked me what happened and I said I fell at the skate park, hahaha. I wear pads now.

I like your energy. I’ll be 50 in a couple of months. After seeing a few videos I saw you’re in Indy. I’m on the SE side. 15+ years ago at our old house I built a (8’ wide/2’ tall) mini ramp in my garage. We moved into this house about 10 years ago. In December I told my wife I want another one, a bigger one. Now I have a (12’ wide/2’6” tall/mellow) mini ramp in a 3 car garage. I don’t have any friends that skate, so I’m the only one thats ever even been on it. If you ever want to skate it just drop me a line. It’s usually just me out there. Ye "Finding the flow" is also deterministic on your endurance and capabilities. as you expand your abilities the flow of a park opens up more, if you feel limited in a section of the park, it means you need more work on it.
and i dont mean tricks, it could be as simple as wallies, ollies up a euro gap, how to ride a outside hip etc. even with 0 tricks in a bag, having familiarity with the skateboard is #1 to open up a parks features.

if you want a little help getting that ride up at 4:30 a little trick i used as a kid we just called it dinking, but it was pretty much get comfy 50 slashing it, then slow it down, and start taping your front truck until your comfy and can ride into it, we would practice more like a kick turn on coping than anything, just wide and look for the bump and slide.
