The Seattle Mariners Have a Massive Problem
The Seattle Mariners had a clear lead on the AL West, and in the blink of an eye it was gone. With one of the best starting rotations in baseball, the Mariners should be near the top of the standings, but there's been one thing holding this team back, they can't hit... at all. Seattle has had one of the worst offenses in MLB, and despite this they've still managed to stay in the playoff chase, but its finally coming back to bite them. If the Mariners don't figure something out soon, their lineup is going to cost them a playoff spot, and their season, so in this video we look at why the offense has been so bad, and what they can do to fix it.

Look at Ranger’s season now, heading into the playoffs. He’s been a disaster since he came off the IL. His velocity is down, sinker coming in at 88-90 instead of 93-94 in 2022, 92-93 last year and 91-92 between April and his first IL stint. Something ain’t right.

At least they haven’t been swept by a 120-loss team. That would be pretty inept, especially if they were shutout by something like 7-0 in Game 3. During which they set a franchise record (going back to 1961) for losses. Mortifying that would be, oh yes.

Through 565 AB’s in 2024, he sits with 21 HR, 117 runs (one MORE than last season), 130 hits (31 LESS than last season, and 72 RBI (four LESS than last season. If the league makes that rule where a starting pitcher has to stay in for 6 innings, it means they don’t care about player health. Because the pitch clock made the pitcher wind up faster, which may be toxic to their arm Va how much time they used to have. This is pure speculation. But, this does mean pitch by committee is here to stay for these reasons.

The only constant l can see is Scott Servais. This team just dosent take the field time and 0:22 and again ready to play they are flat. His handling of the pitching changes pinch hitters leaves a lot to. Be desired. You never see him trying to pump up his team just stands there with his arms folded. He has a p 0:22 pretty good team l and some acq anyances are not baseball stupid. Think about putting some brains in that dugout with some fire. Lou Panella did a lot more with less.

at some point the players have to look at themselves. I want to root for the mariners SO BAD. They have averaged 7.2 RPG the last 7 games but that was against the awful white sox and a series loss ( 1-2 ) to the Red sox when pitching let them down and so far a 10-2 win over the Phillies who are in a major slump lossing 11 out of 14 games and now have lost 5 in a row. Yes they are hitting better but it just feels like a mirage that will vanish very soon. In 2023 they scored 4.68 Runs per game, this year 3.97 for 3rd worst in MLB. That 2023 4.68 would make them the 11th best offense this season but yet they are 28th out of 30 with their 3.97.

While I agree, do you really think Dipoto and Servais will be replaced by people who have a better mindset? Our owners care about money more than wins. They only hired Dipoto and Servais cause they had their plan of bringing winning baseball to Seattle while still staying towards the bottom in payroll, effectively allowing the owners to maximize profits by rising ticket prices and concessions while still being cheap in terms of payroll. If we keep calling for Dipoto and Servais to be fired, they will fire them and almost certainly bring in someone who does not care about winning and simply cares about profits and we will return to another 2 decade plus drought.
