    Something I’m tired of seeing is how criminally underrated Will Smith is. Dudes a top 3 catcher and is one of the best offensive catchers in the game. It’s a 4 man juggernaut between Mookie, Shohie, Freddie, and Will.

    This is why I don’t think the Dodgers will win in 2024, but they will in 2025. As long as Ohtani gets to finally be in the postseason though, I see this as an absolute win.

    I’m getting sick of seeing this because people are clowning the dodgers for this when they had injuries in the pitching all year we running of rookies what do you expect? (healthy rotation this year probably raps) in 2025 when we have Ohtani on the mound (we don’t even know how good he will be). stop saying may will be out when he said he want to be back sometime after the all star break.

    Starting pitching is a crisis situation for the Dodgers. That's why signing Yamamoto and maybe trading some of their enticing, controllable prospects to Tampa for Glasnow and Arozarena.

  • @Dodgers-sw2uk
    @Dodgers-sw2uk 6 місяців тому

    Dodgers have 70-80 million to add in payroll plus the #3 farm in baseball to trade from. Their pitching will be fine by opening day. It will be interesting though to see what they do if they miss out on Yamamoto. They don’t really need free agent pitchers on longer term deals. They need rentals. After 20224 Ohtani, May and Gonsolin all come back. May was top 3 in the Cy You g before his injury and Gonsolin is an allstar caliber pitcher when healthy. He wasn’t in 2023 but only because he needed TJ since opening day but played through it to collect incentives.

    It is an easy fix for pitching with Ohtani only getting 2 mil a year we have the money to sign Trever bauer and Yoshinobu Yamamoto to fix the rotation 1-Yamamoto 2-Glasnow 3-Bobby Miller 4-Trever Baur 5- Clayton Kershaw

      Really the only way they'd recover from signing Based Bauer and all the kneejerk is to do it with Ohtani at the same time. Who is gonna boycott that in their right mind??

    Just wait for a year or two. Shohei Ohtani who moved from LAA to LAD will soon be the second player who wins MVP in BOTH leagues after 58 years absence. But all unanimously... HE has been astonishing us so often by achieving what we thought shouldn't be done.

  • @Massachamp08
    @Massachamp08 6 місяців тому +3

    This contract sets an extremely dangerous precedent for baseball. Bold take, I know, but I see things going the NBA route with contracts like this. MLB needs to step in before this type of deal spirals out of control any further.

    • @SmartrBaseball
      @SmartrBaseball 6 місяців тому +1

      Do you think they just say no deferred money? Cause I agree this is bad for baseball, it's like a cheat code for the rich teams. If you have the extra money to pay out of pocket later, and still field a competitive team, then you get a lower tax hit during the contract and can sign more/better players, mid and smaller market teams don't have that extra money to do that.

    • @Massachamp08
      @Massachamp08 6 місяців тому

      @SmartrBaseball Only the Dodgers, Yankees, and Mets are in the position to actually afford those kinds of contracts. Once the initial reports about the Ohtani contract details came through, the first thing that came to my mind is that the Dodgers will no doubt give Juan Soto this same kind of offer and it will make baseball flat out uncompetitive. Now, that possibility is something tangible for Juan Soto next year, and that scares the shit out of me.

      People are acting like teams can force these contracts to happen. They can't. Most players won't want this pay structure. Jordan, Brady, Ohtani. Those three are the best of the best in their sports, and way more concerned about winning than money. That's a rare, rare breed.
