Here is the reason Bazooka has a 14 jersey. Bazooka wears a number 14 jersey that's designed to look a bit like a New England Patriots jersey. Ron Rudat, the original ARAH figure designer, is a Pats fan, and Steve Grogan, number 14, was the team's quarterback in the early 80s.

Alpine and Bazooka were the first Joes I ever got because even my mom liked them on the cartoon so those were the first two she recognized😅

I would have loved to hear the conversation between the animators & Hasbro about Quick Kick's appearance.
Bob, the animator: "This takes place in Antarctica, Jim. Shouldn't we put Quick Kick in some winter gear?"
Jim, from Hasbro: "What?!? How are the kids going to know who it is? He has to be barefoot and topless!"
A week later, Jim was found dead, facedown in a mountain of cocaine. Inspiring the Arctic themed variations & vehicles...🤣🤣🤣

Hasbro is by Boston, and Bazooka is supposed to be wearing a Patriots jersey- inspired by Steve Grogan...I think. That is also why Cutter has a Red Sox cap.
Steve Grogan also played in Super Bowl 20, against ....William "Fridge" Perry and Da Bearssss!

Oh OK....didn't Cutter speak in a Boston accent? I know BBq did. I also read that a disproportionate number of Joes were based off actual Hasbro employees and so were born in or around Rhode Island. 👍

Funny thing that neither Alpine nor Bazooka has made it into either the Sideshow or ThreeZero 1:6 line of figures, but Hasbro made both of them in that scale, but those are more meant as toys tho, then collectors items. Still, I have seen plenty of kitbashes/customs of both of them over the years, so there is that.

    • @StoriesFromTheToyshelf
      @StoriesFromTheToyshelf  4 дні тому

Hmmm I'm not into the 1/6 scale but I did know that Hasbro did a Bazooka. But they did Alpine too? Interesting! I'm gonna Google that :) how deep did Hasbro's 1/6 scale line go?

    • @LtHavoc1983

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Hasbro made several waves of 1:6 action figure toys over the years, often tied with the new cartoons or movies. I think the last was Valor vs. Venom if I recall and there, they did a few modern reinterpretations of the classics. Also, I might be wrong on the Alpine figure, but they did do Bazooka.

Steve Grogan wore #14, for the New England Patriots, they wore red jerseys back then, I don't know what you're talking about with Broadway Joe Namath, but as a kid I liked Alpine, loved Quickkick, he was my favorite Joe, I didn't like Bazooka at all, I think it was because the Sunbow series made him so goofy and irritating?🤔 Great video bro.👍🏽

I believe that the number 14 was in reference to Steve Grogan, Who played for the New England Patriots.

Bazooka got the shaft big time in the cartoons. Anyone who had his action figure and bothered to Read his filecard would know he wasn't a dunce- Larry Hama described him as a 'decisive fast thinker with all the instincts of a natural survivor'; a trait seen in Marvel's G. I. Joe #44.
Along with Flash, Zap, & Airtight, Bazooka was also one of the only Joes who can defuse a nuclear warhead if necessary.

    • @StoriesFromTheToyshelf

Or, more importantly, did the cartoon writers and execs even Cared about producing a Quality animated version of G. I. Joe? Filmation's Star Trek, Hanna-Barbera's Jonny Quest, & WB's Batman: The Animated Series were far better by comparison.
