- The Story about my review of the new movie Transformers One.
After watching the very first trailer, I knew that Transformers One was not exactly made for an older Transformers fan like myself. But does that mean I can't enjoy it as well? The reviews are in and here's what a longtime G1 fan thinks of this new chapter of the Transformers franchise.

What was your favorite EASTER EGG or callback to a previous TF property in the movie? Please avoid spoilers to the main plot of the movie 😅 👍👍👍
Having an obscure character reference early to Action Master Jackpot in the background, then you know it's made by people that care about Transformers and not slave to the dollar.
Then also i would have loved seeing Mirage participating in the race instead of just being in the audience, see Dragstrip be among the top racers and Blurr win it all instead of who ever did. (Won't tell or write because of spoiler, evening it doesn't matter) as it was it was very strange only what would become Autobots were in the city and no future Decepticons in the background, more than minor speaking roles.
@@zilvertron I didn’t even catch who won the race 😅 I definitely need to watch it again :) you’re right....I didn’t catch any future Decepticons as miners...but DeadEnd was one of the racers yeah?
@StoriesFromTheToyshelf honestly was just trying to find Blurr and Dragstrip during the race when I had Spotlight Blurr on my mind during that entire scene, and then I spotted Mirage in the crowd. Thought I can check more closely at home on a later date about the other participants when I bought the Blu-ray and can pause or rewind at my leasure. The winner had something to do with Inferno i think it was, or was it Ironhide during the 80s?

I have never been a big fan of Transformers but this movie got me invested in the characters more than anything I have watched. It had an a effective story for turning Optimus and Megatron into enemies and set a solid foundation for what I assume will be a trilogy of films. I’m on board to see what else they’ve got. Great review!

Thank you! I just love how they didn’t just draw from G1 but other iterations as well...like Sentinels design and color scheme was obviously a homage to Animated...and his troops were basically flying vehicons from Prime 👍👍👍
Best call back was Elita's line to Orion that he did not have the touch or the power. I laughed out loud to that one and the Gobots insult.
I loved the Gobot reference 😅 poor gobots 😂
Best callback was her calling them a bunch of Go-Bots. That was a sick burn

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf sad thing is that challenge of the gobots wasn’t a bad show. I wouldn’t mind seeing a go-bots movie played up like a parody of transformers. It would probably be great with modern technology. Hasbro owns the IP iirc. They could probably do it.
@liquidmark5081 from what I know while they own the rights to all the Gobots trademarks etc...they don't own the rights to the toy designs? But like they can make a Transformer motorcycle and call him cy-kill but not make him him look exactly like the original renegade. I could be wrong though. But that's my understanding 😅 either way that would be cool to have the actual gobots that we know incorporated somehow into the TF mythos...like an invasion of sorts? I believe IDW made a gobots miniseries wherein they were the ancestors of the Transformers or something.
I do believe that the fact that Transformers One stands as its own continuity without crapping on what was before is the best asset they have - Transformers saw lots of soft and hard reboots before and by acknowledging them and not trying to stand out by saying "we are real one" but by trying to be the best one, they achieved what they needed - appreciation by fans old and new. I absolutely love Animated and consider it best Transformers series of all time (great storyline, amazing characters and lots of really good toys helped with that) and the fact that Sentinel Prime here instantly reminded me one from that show, did it incredible justice.
I also love that this movie does pay huge respect to TF Prime (Airachnid herself plus her footsoldiers look like Vehicons (well, rather seekers from Season 3) from Prime)

Yeah that's what I love about TFone, it draws from different iterations of TF not just G1. It's like a love letter to the fans through the years. But at the same time it doesn't just rely on pure nostalgia and is serious about making its own universe. Love it!
I cooked a bowl of fried rice at 2 AM to watch this review, and by far the best at addressing nostalgia while inviting the new generation is worth a second watch on the big screen.
Not on 3D though I lost pair of spectacles before it event began rolling,😅

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I will say one thing. I may check out this film. ONLY because I value your opinion. I'm a G1 Elitist. But also, I've been told, a bit if a music snob too. Now, in '65, Gloria Jones released Tainted Love. Awesome track. I wasn't born then so I grew up with the' 81 Soft Cell version. My father was the one who told me it wasn't the original. Blew.My.Mind. Didn't know what to think. A different take? There's been dozens of versions since the original. Then the big one that divided the rock community... MARILYN MANSON covering the Mowtown classic. A very different take, sampling Soft Cell's synth but with the same passion as Gloria Jones. Beautifully produced. I'll smash this at the gym, in my car, at a party. So... I may just check out this film. You twisted my arm.
@audiebavington8789 that's quite the compliment. Thanks! I guess the key for me was my that I came in with themindset that this wasn't MY Transformers. It wasn't gonna be G1...but that the general feedback was very positive...so I was open minded...a little ...optimistic 😅 but basically thinking...ok so let's see what all the buzz is about :) I was genuinely surprised :)
I'm also familiar with the soft cell Tainted love...as in that's the version that played in my head when you mentioned it. Can't say I'm familiar with the original or MM version so will check it out. I can totally get where you're coming from as a.music snob....im the same way 🤣

@Norrisc761 same....I just watched a video about it nit projecting as high as expected. But I have faith. I mean all biases aside...it's a real good and well written movie with a lot of good buzz around it. :)
I still rank the '86 movie as #1. Pixarformers is down there at #5, behind Bayformers 1-3.

I have watched Transformers One and I thought it comes in second place in terms of Transformers movies. 86 is still #1.
Well..86 is iconic and it's cool that it's still your #1. I still love it 👍
I got to see this movie with my wife... She was very confused, and didn't really care for it (not going into spoilers)... And she is generally a fan of most animated films.. With me I'd have to say... I did not like it overall... It was very cool in places and I agree 100% with the relationship development, but it felt too much like a bad marvel movie... and the Villains really were weak (again... Can no-one write a good villain anymore?). I would like to go into more, but spoilers... The best movie that transformers did is probably the first bayverse film... after that the 86 movie... This, this was so eh in the parts that needed to count.

I really don't want to give Lorenzo di Bona-WTF any of my money but I've been hearing good things about Transformers ONE. I still say Optimus should never have lips.😂

@hiddensquid7048 true :) but to be fair, One does pull from more than just the 86 movie. A lot of callbackes to animated, prime, etc👍👍👍

That's a good review. I agree with what you said. The creation story is quite different but delivered in a good manner. From Primus to the Primes instead of Primus > the Hand then the Primes
