Good Omens | Multilanguage | "A Group Of The Two Of Us" (28 languages)
I was surprised to see how close the translations of the French dubs are to the original.
French (France):
Crowley: "I could always rely on you. And you could always rely on me. We make a team, a group... Well, a group of two. And we’ve spent our existence pretending we don't. Well, these last few years, a little less..." / “J’ai toujours pu compter sur toi. Et t’as toujours pu compter sur moi. On fait une équipe, un groupe… Enfin, un groupe de deux. Et on a passé nos existences à faire semblant que non. Enfin, ces dernières années, un petit peu moins…"
French (Canada):
Crowley: "I could always rely on you. You could always rely on me. We're a team, a group... A group of two, but a group. We’ve spent our existence pretending otherwise. I mean, the last few years, not really..." / “J’ai toujours pu compter sur toi. T’as toujours pu compter sur moi. On forme une équipe, un groupe… Un groupe de deux, mais un groupe. On a passé notre existence à prétendre le contraire. Je veux dire, ces dernières années, pas vraiment…"
In this scene, my favourite dubs are: French (France), German, Spanish (Latin America), Filipino, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Thai and Russian.
What are your personal favourites?
Thank you for watching! I'll be posting more multilanguage videos soon, so stay tuned!

This scene is the only time Crowley calls Aziraphale “My angel” (“Mon ange”) in French (France). In French Canadian, he does it often however. I can't believe I'm sitting here watching this and laughing at everyone's pain experiencing the kiss for the first time. Not sure what that says about me as a person XD I guess at this point I've just seen the kiss enough times that I'm mostly numb to the pain myself, but I still enjoy feeling validated in my early reactions lol.

      I wouldn't say this whole scene from when Aziraphale comes back to the bookshop through Crowley's leaving it is "normal/average" fiction though. This is magnificent! The writing - we have been shown throughout two seasons that Aziraphale believes heaven are "the good guys" and that to be an angel is superior to demons (and humans?) During the whole scene, nearly everyone's reaction is, "But Aziraphale, Crowley doesn't want to be an angel in heaven again!" Afterwards, usually much later, fans can see why this seemed a perfect plan to Aziraphale though. He's not a quick thinker like Crowley. Aziraphale's first thoughts/opinions always revert to the head office's view point. And most of the time, Crowley doesn't directly tell him what to think, he shows him and lets Aziraphale think things through on his own. When they have conflict, it's always when desperate Crowley doesn't have the time or patience for that. So we cannot truly say that Neil and Co didn't set this conflict up. NG was asked on Tumblr why, "I forgive you." He said there was nothing else he could have written that would have kept this in out minds until the conclusion like that does! And the acting! While Michael and David have been fantastic throughout, this scene should win ALL the awards and recognition. They really went above and beyond here.

    This is a good clip to see how well the voice actors are able to portray emotion. I like the German version. Do you think you could show a slightly longer clip from later in the scene? I was thinking of where Crowley says, "You and me, what do you say?" It's easier to get an idea of the acting in a longer clip. Thanks!

    • @defelozedd94
      @defelozedd94 17 днів тому

      I really love the German dub too, it's one of my favourites! You can hear the emotions in his voice. I've already made a video when Crowley says "You and me, what do you say?", it's in the "And I Would Like To Spend..." one. I've actually tried to make longer clips (because I also think it's better), but then my videos always got blocked because of copyright. :/

    Dutch transcript + translation: Crowley: Ik kon altijd op je rekenen. Jij kon altijd op mij rekenen; we zijn een team, een groep! Een groep met z'n tweetjes. En we doen ons hele bestaan al alsof dat niet zo is. Ik bedoel, laatste paar jaar al helemaal niet meer. / I could always rely on you. You could always rely on me; we're a team, a group! A group of the two of us. And we've spent our entire existence pretending we're not. I mean, last couple of years we definitely haven't. Gotta take my hat off to my own language again, you can really hear the emotion in his voice 😊 Also interesting to note: Dutch Crowley uses "tweetjes" rather than "tweeën" (yes I realize how weird that word looks, Dutch makes no sense). They mean the same thing ("two") but using "tweetjes" definitely implies more intimacy, more cosiness. It's pretty much perfect for the message Crowley's trying to get across here.

    • @letolethe3344
      @letolethe3344 20 днів тому

      I agree--the Dutch clip is one of the few where the Crowley voice actor shows that strangled, tearful quality exactly where it should -- "And we've spent our existence pretending that we aren't." I just don't hear much emotion in several of these.

However all the languages I do know (save English) are romantic languages, which means I usually just focus on them. That's why I love this comment section, it helps me pay more attention to the other languages! Like the Dutch dub is really good! Eduard Farelo (catalan/castellano dub actor) does such a good job as Azi I can't even describe it. He's such a good actor and honestly the prefect casting. Peyo García (castellano Crowley) too obviously. They both did so good. But I do really feel like this clip just shows how talented Farelo is! These two are up there on my list of favorite dub actors (as well as David Garcilla Llop-catalan/castellano dub actor- and Ricardo Suarez Puertas-Italain dub actor)

    Dutch kills me. "Monsieur, cést un grand- vergissing. Uh- Erreur. Ik had toch beter mijn best moeten doen bij Frans." That last bit isn't quite the same as 'Bit out of practice - French'. Instead, he says it like 'I should've put in more effort during French'. It's said in a way that almost implies he went to French classes. (This is basically something a highschooler would say if they got an insufficient on their French exam!)
