This video is longer because it was hard to cut the scene in the middle. There will be three videos on this whole scene.
I love that moment between Gabriel and Crowley. Crowley is so protective! 😊 I was really shocked when I heard the French Canadian version because Crowley says: "...when you told my only friend to shut his f*cking mouth and die!" ("...quand tu as dit à mon seul ami de fermer sa gueule de merde et de crever!"). It was very aggressive in comparison to the French (France) version, where he says "...quand tu as dit à mon seul ami de fermer sa grande bouche et de se décider à mourir !" ("...when you told my only friend to shut his big mouth and to make up his mind to die!").
In which language(s) do you think Crowley is the scariest? ^^
For me, it’s French (France and Canada), German, Spanish (Latin America), Filipino, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Malayalam, Dutch, Portuguese (Portugal) and Tamil.
And my top 6 are French (Canada), German, Spanish (Latin America), Japanese and Dutch.
I had some issues with my screen recorder, I was only able to record the sound and had to download the episode separately to synchronize the image with the sound. I had to do this for each dub and it took me a lot of time, so I hope I will solve my problem. If I don’t, I think I'll decrease the number of videos I post per week.

Ok, so, I'm italian but I watched good omens in english, I had never heard the italian dub of this scene and I kinda want to cry

I totally understand. The choice of words can really change the atmosphere of the scene. The French (France) dub is also way less threatening than the Canadian one because of the words they chose.
I feel you. I'm German and I also watched it in English because the original is best

A me invece è piaciuto tantissimo perché in "schiattare" c'è l'accezione di quello che i Tedeschi definirebbero Schadensfreude, la goduria nel vedere un altro soffrire o venir punito, che era proprio il sentimento che provava Gabriele in quel momento
Premetto che la serie doppiata non la guardo perché vivo all'estero da almeno vent'anni e Tennant lo conosco come attore dai tempi di Doctor Who, quindi la sua interpretazione è insostituibile per me
btw I love the Japanese translation of “archangel. “dai” (大) as a prefix means “big” or “a lot” (as in “suki”/好き, like, and “daisuki”/大好き, love)… so “daitenshi”/大天使 is pretty literally “big angel”

i'm bad at interpreting tone, but czech went sooo hard. someone mentioned dutch, that was amazing too... god i adore all of them. voice actors my beloved
They're all really good indeed!
This is more like it! I enjoy these videos more in the really dramatic, high-stakes scenes! It's easier to compare voice actors at such moments. Also, I enjoyed the back-translations you gave in your video descriptions (for example, translating back into English how the France-French and Canadian-French versions rendered the wording. I also enjoy when you do slightly longer clips (more than 10 seconds, say). I'd love to see a video of a 30-second clip.
Yes, you're right! It's easier to compare voice acting in dramatic scenes.

I also enjoy longer clips, but I'm always a little worried that my videos would be taken down if the clips are too long (I already had some warnings).
European French: “you told my only friend to shut his big mouth and make up his mind to die”
Canadian French: “you told my only friend to shut his fucking pie hole and (a verb I don’t recognize but that I presume means Die Extra Hard)”
Indeed, the Canadian French dub is much more aggressive than the French (France) one. I was really shocked when I first heard it.
@@defelozedd94 I grew up learning European French and later learned Quebecois French and, let me tell you, that stereotype Americans in the US have about Canadians being ultra polite would go *out the window* if more people knew how filthy French Canadian swearing is. (Also I feel a little silly I didn’t see your translation in the description before posting my comment but the part of my brain that handles language comprehension lit up like a pinball machine… 😅)
The verb you don’t recognize is really die but in a much more familiar way x)

The Canadian French is less polite, but more impactful for this scene! "gueule" and "crever" are really agressive terms.

I love the translations that are like “I found that very unpleasant” “I did not like that” “I didn’t enjoy it” and they’re all, much like the original English, the mildest possible way to say “I’m genuinely trying my hardest not to kill you right now”

I really like the Dutch one! I’m Dutch and I never watch anything dubbed but I kinda want to do a rewatch with the Dutch dub now :D I like the way they worded it and the actors sound great!

uhh german language suits this scene... I also like that in the filipino version Crowley felt more threatening (for me) at the end when he said 'and I did not care for it'

@@Allegro11Maestoso yeah the german dub is actually quite good. I just don't love Crowley saying "und ich konnte das gar nicht gut heißen". I mean it's a bit hard to find a good equivalent for "I did not care for it" (I can't think of a better one either tbh) but it just sounds so unnatural and not exactly threatening.

Crowley: Nee, Jim? (gasp) O. (clicks tongue) Nou, meneer Faal herinnert 't zich ook niet. Hij was er namelijk niet bij. / No, Jim? (gasp) Oh. (clicks tongue) Well, Mr Fell doesn't remember it either. He wasn't there, you see.
Jimbriel: Was ie er niet bij? / He wasn't there?
Crowley: Lang verhaal, maar... ik was er wel. En ik herinner 't me wel. (unintelligible, someone help) --die blik op je gezicht, Aartsengel Gabriël... / Long story, but... I was there. And I do remember. (...) --that look on your face, Archangel Gabriel...
Also PS: "gore bek" is like really fucking rude, our word for a /human/ mouth is "mond" and "bek" is reserved for animals (or insults). I'd personally have used "filthy" rather than "dirty" because imo it sounds stronger but yeah that's purely subjective :)
In Canadian French, he also uses "gueule" instead of "bouche" which is used to say "mouth" for animals and insults. He also say "crever" instead of "mourir" which means "die" but in a very vulgar way. That's why I was so shocked when I heard the Canadian version, it's way stronger than the French (France) dub.

I found a Polish dub, but that's not really a dub. That's just someone reading a text above the English version.

Everything, unfortunately, in German sounds brutal and menacing in my ears at least; I put that down to how I can't help associating it in my mind with genocide; that trauma will last generations but still I work on it. Nonetheless, German Crowley is scariest to me. Hebrew Crowley might be next terrifying (again, I cannot help associating it with the current wholesale slaughter of civilians by many of those who speak it right now.) Outside of that, Canadian French Crowley is sinister indeed, as is Indonesian Crowley.
Unfortunately, in the Hungarian dubbing, "only" was left out, and Crowley says "my friend"instead of " my only friend"😭🥹

Also the word for "to die" "dögöljön meg" was badly matched to the lipsync ngl 😬😬😬 but ig there wasn't much wiggle room there.
