Part of the problem is the first season it took him WAY too long to figure out who he is. Same with Jodi. Give it one, maybe two episodes, then get on with Adventures AS the Doctor. Having said that, I did love Capaldi, though Smith is my favorite.

IMO Capaldi ranks as the best Doctor of all. Although he's in a close fight with Smith and McCoy. Between them, they make up the solid top 3. As for the rest of the list, that's hard to lay out. But never forget that Trouton played both himself and the Villian in the same story once. (Without body doubles I believe).

I enjoyed Capaldi's stint as the Doctor, him like Hurt were really down played because there weren't young or had lighter hearted roles. It's just a shame that the splash they both had isn't as appreciated as it should be. Tennant was good yes, so was Smith. Baker, however, to me that is the first Doctor I recall with any fondness. John Hurt though, is a unique one that I wish there had been more of.

It's not in the video long but I think his speech to the master and missy is actually a great reflection of all their characters, the doctor takes a stand saying that he is willing to die to do the right thing, the master responds saying he didn't pay attention in an attempt to belittle the doctor but it only shows how immature and shallow the master is. Missy pays attention to the speech, which proves the worth of his words as it turns her against the master.

That they didn't use any music at all during the monologue was a brilliant choice too. Really emphasized the drama and impact of the moment rather than just a series of phrases. Matt Smith had some great speeches, but there was always music to underscore them & make them powerful in a different way. Here, the lack of also put in serious punctuation but in a grittier, higher stakes way. Which was perfect for Capaldi.

Capaldi was great. The writing was patchy over the first couple seasons, especially all the Danny Pink stuff. After that the show gained steam as the writing caught up with Capaldi's strengths and in the end it was really cooking.

Capaldi played the Doctor like a madman. When he had the right moments, he was awesome. Series 8 was nearly a full waste of his talent. Series 9 was way good. Ten was alright.

How stupid can you be to have a video of a certain thing you are "supposed" to know everything about it and can't get the relationship of the main characters in it right. He is not their stepson or their Uncle, he is their Son in law.

This was also a landmark moment for me with 12. One of many moments during his era that makes this incarnation more unique compared to the rest. I will always love the show but this era is my favourite. Peter Capaldi perfectly depicts 12 and I do feel sad that we will never gain any more moments of him doing so.

My family dropped off when Capaldi regenerated. Mind you, not because the female doctor was a no-go for us, but the streaming service we had no longer carried it. I have seen the stuff on d+, and I have seen a lot of recap videos, but I have yet to see any of it. Point being, capaldi is my favorite, if not second favorite doctor.

A good opening is one that I see in the cinemas and can recall the exact moment forever and will receive the exact same reaction every time I see it. Only two films have ever caused this feeling Revenge of the Sith with the Battle over Corusant and Transformers 2007 with the Blackout attack.

Peter capaldi was a brilliant doctor. I loved him as much as I liked David and Matt. Even tho the writing was indeed hit or miss, he is an amazing actor and was able to make it all sound beautiful and intense, sad and thrilling or intimidating. He's even able to make us die with laughter.

Capaldi is my favourite Doctor so far. Sure, I grew up with Ten and I think many of his episodes and performances amount to Pure Cinema, but Twelve feels like the natural evolution of Ten. Eleven, Matt Smith, was a very sudden tone shift for me when I first watched him as a kid. The hijinks were fun and the new era of camerawork brought it into the modern era, but tonally it never felt quite right? Like his baggage with the previous leg of his life had just been left on the doorstep and moved on from completely. Credit where it's due though, this is brought up in The Day of the Doctor when he's referred to as "the one who forgets". It was Twelve's return to what I love most about Nine and Ten, along with some of the best episodes of New Who ever, that make him my absolute favourite. Nine was dark and capable of immense cruelty, fresh off the heels of the time war. Ten was adjusting to life beyond the trauma, but never able to fully escape the ghosts that haunted him. Twelve is a fuller realisation of what that arc was leading to, and it's one of the best performances in all of television. This is a man broken by the horrors of the universe and the horrors of his past, and he is so much stronger now that he's been put back together.

This is what people these days need to learn. Those who think they can do whatever the hell they want because they have a sad backstory. No! While I feel horrible for what happened to you, perhaps you feel isolated, perhaps you feel no one understands your pain. And you feel the need to lash out, to take vengeance. But that makes nothing better. Here's the truth, whatever you face, racism, sexism, isolation, or just abuse. That does not excuse, what you are doing to people. Whatever justification you have in your mind, it has become null the moment you have done something irredeemable! I have nothing against anyone, I don't want to hate anyone. I have no quarrels against minorities. But it is so hard to not hate anyone when they're screaming so much, that it annoys the hell out of me! And when their double standards, are just unforgivable.

Matt Smith had these amazing moments where the mask of boyish silly dropped and you realized you were dealing with a being thousands of years old who faced down gods and devils alike and could send mighty undefeated armada's running with a word. See the end of the eleventh hour or demons run for good instances of this. His doctor is the one that terrified the boogyman. Capaldi how got to make the great speeches, the ones that made the bad guys AND good guys rethink everything and sometimes, just sometimes, see a bit of truth. Loved them both in the roles and the writers and the rest of the teams they had made for truly amazing doctor who.

Gives me chills every. Single. Time. This was the moment I knew Andor was a masterpiece. I had had my suspicions before this scene - suspicions that the show had more depth than any other Star Wars media; that it had purposefully created characters who live in the grey zone of moral ambiguity. But there had always been this nagging pinch in my mind that I was reading too much into things, that this is Disney Star Wars after all, the same people who made the Obi-Wan show and season 3 of the Mandolorian (I came to the Andor party very late). I may have suspected the true depth of the show, but I had still expected it to be a mere coincidence, an unlikely success. I was expecting the good aspects of the show to be accidental. But this scene proved all my theories right. This scene showed me that these machinations weren’t accidental - they were deliberate, and exhaustive. This show was purpose-driven, and it had some passionate creatives behind the wheel. THAT may have been the most surprising aspect for me: that Disney allowed such a show as this to exist in the first place. It was so hard to believe that I had been finding reasons to deny what I was seeing on screen as it played out. Until Luthen showed us what sacrifice means to this world, that the show runners had purposefully created this moral ambiguity, that it wasn’t accidental. This one scene brought Star Wars back to life, for me.

SIT! DOWN! AND TALK! That frustration with people who refuse to negotiate, to see each other as people. You look at the world with people so driven to violence and selfishness from the small scale of people to the widespread cruelty of nations and you just feel so angry, so sad, so damn frustrated that people will not look for peace for the most pointless of reasons. Religion, ethnicity, the history of people already long dead, the self-assuredness that they deserve to be on top, it’s all so pointless. Those four words just are that feeling of frustration with conflict, what’s wrong with us as a species, a lot of pathetic children in suits throwing a tantrum because they can’t get over themselves.

I am quite surprised to see your channel never touched on River Song's episodes. Or if it did it wasn't in any form which can be searched from your Channel. River's instant deferral to the Doctor when she realises there's something wrong, but still being her usual playful self (which the audience is just as in the dark about as the Doctor) up until her send off with that one last night together... Beautiful.

Here's the thing with Clara having any sort of relationship with the Doctor and you saying it's wrong because she's also dating some guy... the Doctor's MARRIED. To River. And also, apparently, to some Queen. EDIT: Also... : "It's like he's dealing with a tantruming child." He is. Then again, I never liked Clara, but my only exposure to her was the special where The War Doctor is introduced. Seeing this here just makes me like her even less, which is impressive. Love the Doctor's acting, though.

Makes me even sadder this incarnation never met River (at least on screen...her final episode does imply she may have at least crossed paths with them all over time), since the Daleks also seem to not quite understand her, other than knowing that they should very much fear her.

Jenna Coleman was also brilliant in all of this, going toe-to-toe with Peter in both dramatic and comedic moments, always compelling, frequently sparklingly witty and at times devastatingly painful. She had to show a similar range to Peter up against a far better known and more seasoned actor, and she made it look easy.
