I have set many goals in my life and have finally been able to achieve them due to hard work and dedication. This channel is to document my Porsche GT4. I want to put up videos that help other owners and other people to take care or their vehicles.
Panamera 971 Front Bumper Removal
Front Bumper Removal and Reinstall on a 2nd gen Panamera.
Pretty straight forward. A lot easier with 2 people to remove the bumper and put the bumper back on the car due to the size and weight.

Biggest Porsche Issue
Переглядів 4547 місяців тому
This seems to be the current biggest issue that Porsche seems to have lately with shrinking leather on the dash pad. Not sure If its from crappy leather treatment or neglect. But seems to be plaguing multiple product lines lately. I tried to repair it myself and failed. I will have to replace the dash now. Porsche 971 Panamera Cabin Air Filter Replacement

Replacement of the cabin air filter in the 971 Gen 2 Panamera. This is for all versions of a Panamera 971. Instead of using the more costly Porsche one. I found the Audi equivalent one. Its the same filter used in the Audi Etron GT. I was able to get 2 for the same cost as the Porsche one. Here is the part number I used. 971-819-429-B

Here is the replacement for my Porsche GT4 Battery. This process is the same for any Porsche as well. The Battery I used to save some money and not pay the additional cost for a true Porsche battery was a 000915105DE VW branded battery. Same battery as Porsche just less money. Also since it was a VW battery the full S/N doesn't fit into the input box. I put in as many characters as I could. I b...

Porsche 981 GT4 Engine Belt Replacement
Is 300v worth it? It triple price than Mobil one. I was gonna do oil change on my GT4 soon so I want something more special than basic oil. My car has only 6k miles ..I don’t drive it that much so I don’t mind to spend $$$ on 300v if it’s worth the cost . Thanks so much for the vdo .
Its not really worth it for normal driving. I did notice over Mobil 1 it kept the lifters quieter. I am only using it since I can get it free after the initial 2 buys from FCP Euro. You have to buy it once to get the life time warranty. Then you have to buy it again to get the warranty. Once they give you the warranty the give you store credit now instead of a refund to your credit card. I use Mobil 1 on my Panamera and no issues there.
I know this video doesn’t have a ton of views but it should. It helped me tremendously. Thank you very much!!
Your very welcome. Glad the video helped you out. Honestly I do it for helping people and not trying to become a YT star.
The 970 fastened the passenger's lower cover without screws, but the 971 is a little more uncomfortable than the 970.
Yea It was a bit of a PITA to do.
Have you ever removed the duck spoiler as I’d like to so I can clean underneath it ?
I have not. But it is on my list to do.
Any idea on removing the rear bumper or side skirts?
Side skirts are easy. I has to replace my mud flap and didn't film it. You just need to go under the car and remove all the plastic 10mm nuts then from in the door jams and start to pull the skirt toward you to pop the clips out. I plan to do a video on the rear bumper sometime soon. Been doing a bunch of family stuff and its been around 100 F lately.
Hi , any one knows how to set tha PASM on a 911 carrera 2015
With the Carisoft 3.0
dude. please lose the time lapse music. other than that, good video. you should get studs for your wheels.
Thanks for the input what did you not like about the time lapse music?
Excellent description of this and gave me the inspiration to put my roll bar in myself. Then, to replace a failed engine bay fan. Very helpful - Thank You!
your very welcome Glad the video was able to help you.
Good stuff. The video and comments saved me a ton of research. I also picked up the iCarsoft v3.0...
quick quesiton, do you have a recommendation where to purchase the crush washers for drain and fill plug?
Get it from Porsche You can reuse if you want.
Thanks for the great DIY video, how many miles when you did the PDKfluid change? Thanks
I did it around 9K miles on the car. Also its a 6spd manual transmission not a PDK. The fluid was 7 years old. I figured as might as well change it due to age.
out of sight out of mind...
Next time try pouring a some water down the tube to have it go in easier. Important to make sure the tube has a good seal with the base to avoid resin escaping.
Good Idea Thanks.
Hi What are the name (item no) of those wheels? Do they fit a “normal” 981 ?
They will fit a normal 981. They are the factory GT4 wheels that come in 20 in. Here is the part number for the set 981-044-603-02 They are staggered rims.
Is there a bleed nipple on both sides of each caliper or only on the outside?
What would be a good interval to replace the transmission fluid on any 718 Cayman/Boxter model, either manual or PDK? The owner's manual says to change it every 120k miles or 12 years but I think that is too long of an interval, especially if the car is being daily driven.
I would probably cut that in half If you do any sort of spirited driving or pushing the car a lot. Also if you do any upgrades to the power of the engine that would cause more wear on the fluid. I would go 6 years or 60K miles. You can never be to safe when it comes to clean fluid in an engine or transmission. I've never changed any of my cars oil according to the interval. I've had 0 issues with changing fluids early.
Got mine done finally, everything went well so far, got the van lifted which gives me 3 feet 1 inch clearance underneath, I do not get the whole clearance of 47 inches as advertised because the Chrysler Town and Country van is taller than normal cars but I am happy with the reach underneath way better than working on jack stands; I also had the Ergo Chair Creeper which fits perfectly under the van on its first stop which is at 21 inches off the floor so I can sit-lay on it easy in and out, heck I could even take a nap on it. It is definitely a game changer for garage work to do your own things; to me since I have this van and another light truck to do full engine work this was a must.
Awesome to hear. Glad it helped you out. I love the lift. Just got done doing more work to my Panamera. Videos to come soon
Does the Porsche gear oil come with the friction modifier for the limited slip diff? If so there must be two types of OEM fluid? With and without the FM?
Yes it came with the friction modifier already in it. I got the fluid from the dealer.
I think the better option to work on these cars is from bottom....but again that just makes it difficult to work at home without lift. Definitely crossing this car out of my list 😅
Its not terrible to access. You cannot access the top of the engine at all from the bottom unless you drop the engine.
I'm installing mine now, the holes should be brushed out and then stick an air nozzle in to blow the dust out. Removing the dust is important to keep the anchors from spinning. If anchors fail and you change to epoxy, stick a chunk of rolled up bread in the hole and push it dow to the desired depth, this prevents all the epoxy from draining into the soil/sand. Another option is drive a 7/8 wood dowel in to the proper depth.
Interesting trick. Yea i tried to blow them out and clean out the holes but could'nt get the wedge anchors to stick.
How long did you go without a tune and no CEL using only the middle sized orifice correct?
I've gone 2 years with it now. No cel and have passed my emission monitors. My tune doesn't tune out the emission monitors.
@gtmachine6134 awesome man, thanks so much! I'm installing my top gear catless headers this weekend which are pretty much the exact same thing. Really appreciate it!
@@stephenjoyce5354 You welcome. Hope the install goes well for you. Hardest part for me was getting to the O2 connectors with the stock headers in there.
first thing to do is turn the beeb off. Then do the diagnostics check and stare at it blankly with no idea what it all means. Ive just recieved mine and that's what I did!
Isn’t it necessary to attach the battery tender prior to removing the cables from the battery, thus ensuring that you don’t lose any data from the ECM?
Not really. There isn't any data that is volatile to engine running. You just loose your stored long term fuel trims and all the emission monitor test status. Nothing that can't be relearned. It will take up to a few days and a fuel refill to have the ecm relearn everything depending on your driving habits. Just some other info. When you clear any fault codes in your ecm you trigger a reset of all the emission monitor status where they all have to re run to get a pass status.
Thank you for clarifying. I did end up attaching the tender via the cigarette lighter but when I removed the battery cables the tender essentially turned itself off. Hope I didn’t cause any damage. Regards from Houston.
@@bobinhouston7638 welcome. Not sure a tender will work the way you want it unless it puts out a std current. Most now days are smart and only trickle charge when it senses the voltage the battery. It might of just cut off doing what its programed to do. As long as your positive terminal didn't' touch ground you should be ok.
Why not reuse the filter housing?
Its cheaper to buy the filter and the housing together from Porsche than to buy the Filter and the o-ring separate. The o-ring for the housing doesn't come with the filter.
Thanks for the diy vid done my 986 booster at 90k cayman 981 will be next
Glad I was able to help you.
Thanks best videos simple and clear I did my ipd plenum change with your video 👌
Glad I was able to help you.
Does anyone know what was used for the temporary fix? OPC cant book me in for 3 weeks 😞
You can pick up some vacuum hose from a parts store and bridge the break
Just moved my Cayman and saw a puddle, smelled soapy, this was the issue. went bad over the winter sitting in my garage. thanks!
Great video. But for regular maintenance, acces to the engine through the bottom or the cabin (which is much much easier) is the enough. You only have to get this engine top cover off if something is broken (which rarely happens).
By removing the engine cover what work would be easier to do from the top of the engine?
Cleaning the engine, having to replace anything ontop of the engine. To access the starter or alternator replacement. Install upgraded intake/plenum or throttlebody.
I don't know if I would actually put the trim pieces back..
You could probably get away with leaving some off. I'm to ocd for that lol.
Well that’s put me off. Thank you 😂 👍🏻
Its not as bad as it looks.
No filter? I know with the PDK you have to change out the pan (integrated filter).
Correct. There is no filter with the manual, even though it does have a pump and a cooler. You would think that it could use a filter. But with no electronics inside there is no reason to filter the fluid as with the PDK's i guess. It does have a magnet on the drain plug that you can clean.
Where you get the blue piping and what did you get. I’ve been trying figure out what I need
I got it off of amazon. Its PEX piping. Here is what I ordered www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A8HUV04/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@@gtmachine6134 thank you. How did you do the connections as it don’t have threads
@@ac7384 They are PEX sharkbite connections. They are double o-ring slip fittings. They are removable with the special tool if needed.
@@gtmachine6134thank you. Where you get your cabinets. And what are they
@@ac7384 They are NewAge cabinets They are the Pro series. The Bold is the same just a downgraded version to save money if you like, but just check the difference to see if you can live with them. The bolds were not for me and I wanted the Pro's
Hi, how can i adjust jets up?
you can take a needle to adjust each nozzle. Just be gentle with them.
Good job. The black cover under the first panel you unbolted usually has two more T15 screws you need to remove before you can unclip it. The front one is accessible, the rear is close to the back so a normal ratchet won't fit. Need a smaller 90 degree tool to get it out or you have to get inventive. Looks like last person didn't replace those screws on yours. Not sure it matters but they keep that black cover more or less airtight. When you remove the cover in the video, you can see the hole where the front screw goes.
I will have to check that on the next filter change and put them in if they are missing. I don't like missing bolts. My wife's mercedes is set up the same way then with the clips then the screws. Good heads up, thanks
Would be nice if CR would add a drain valve at the bottom of the cartridges .
Not a bad idea. You could probably add one yourself by drilling into the center of it and putting one in.
It might be advisable to disconnect those power cords next time. :)
I have the outlet on a GFCI breaker.
Can I have the rest of your epoxy anchors? No shit the kit is listed as $810 here in Australia
I can buy the kit here for 210 in the states. I might be able to ship it to you. If you want to work something out send me an email.
@@gtmachine6134 What a champ! I'm trying to source an equivalent here but if I can't I might have to take you up on that offer, much appreciated.
@@vincetemoana6381 Anytime.
Very useful
your welcome
Original owner probably sold it because the warranty wouldnt cover it. I've only heard good things about CPO
I am not sure. I have seen people get it covered under base warranty easy along with the infamous 991 door panels as well. I'm glad that they were able to advocate for the customer for what is right.
Cel turn..?
No cel at all. Almost 2 years on them.
i HAD THE SAME ISSUE PORSCHE PAID ONLY PART OF THE JOB AND NOW THE PROBLEM CAME BACK, MY 1ST AND LAST PORSCHE, TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR THE PRICE I PAID FOR THIS THING.
Oh i agree. This is a defect of the leather. I would push them again to try to help you out.
Yeah, I think this is the downside to leather dashes in general (or any leather exposed to the sun, like the upper door trim, etc). Happens on Ferraris too. Looks awesome however...
@@Jungkim88 I've owned 3 Audi's before with leather dash's even the same leather Nappa. i have had no issues at all and never did anything other than conditioning them on a normal basis. This one I will take extra steps to protect it longer.
That is awesome! So glad they came through with the repair under warranty... now, how do you prevent this from recurring?
I am going to tint the windshield and condition the leather more than a normal basis.
Awesome they are offering at least "good will" on the repair.
I hope it all works out. It's disappointing that this problem is so common. I guess foregoing the full leather interior option is one way around it, but the base interior on most Porsche models looks very cheap.
I agree. This is not normal wear and tear on a 5 year old car. Also I am in a Macan as a loaner and the dash/door panel material in non leather car looks a little better than a normal car but for a few K to upgrade it all to leather isn't a bad deal.
How many Car Washes did you get out of it in those two years? Were you using it for rinse only?
So It lasted almost a year before i started loosing the effectiveness of the resin. I used it only for washing at first, then that was a pain in the but to keep changing the valves. So I just used it for everything when i was washing the car. I used it for the wash bucket for the cars and to rinse and spray the foam cannon. I would say probably around 500 gallons (guessing). I probably use around 8 gallons per wash I would say including the bucket and I did around 2 washes per week give-take. It really depends on your TDS level of your current water to how long it will last. Hope this helps.
Thanks for making the video. I had to get to the changeover valve in the engine bay today. The video helped lot!
Your very welcome. I'm glad that it helped you.
I appreciate your videos my friend you have been very informative
Thanks you very much and you’re welcome.
Nice installation on the headers. I noticed the diagonal bracing (981) has a deflection in it, and this gives more room when trying to work on the engine in that area in comparison to the 987.2 gen, which those braces are straight. I installed Fabspeed headers with the sport cats and had fun with the bolts too; had to use a variety of wrenches to get things done. The cat back I installed is a Remus race for my 2010 Cayman S. Would have been nice to have the 3,8 GTS engine back then, but Porsche didn't want that at the time.
Yea it was interesting to squeeze it in on that side. Glad I could make it fit without much hassle. I think the 3.8 is the best sounding water cooled engine that Porsche has. It just sounds fantastic when you open her up.
