  • Changing the oil on my GT4 for the 2nd time since I bought the car. This is a better video then my first oil change. Its been about 2K miles and about a year since I've changed it last. I never let the oil go longer than 1 year regardless of the mileage. I found again that the longer you let it drain out you will probably have to put more than 7.5L of oil in it. I let it drain with a slow stream of oil coming out for about 20 min. Also the cost is negligible so it isn't that big of a deal. I think it cost me about 70 to change the oil and filter.

Two comments. I use a plastic baggie over the filter canister when removing and never spill a drop on cross members also then have a place to put the filter element after cutting and inspecting. Also it appeared that your car was properly filled at one bar below the top. I don't believe it's supposed to be to the top bar. Enjoy your videos.

It was actually 2 bars that show empty. I don't know what happened to the video and why it looked like that. I think the sunlight might have done something with the camera.
Also that is a good idea with the baggie.
Thanks for the comments on the video, I'm not trying to become a YT star. Just trying to help others if possible since I have the mechanical knowledge. I can explain things good but I'm a bit goofy on the camera lol.

I use the baggie to limit oil spill. I also add some oil to the new filter/canister before reinstalling. About half full so you can get it back in place and not spill. I notice it shows oil pressure a little quicker on first startup. I’m on a two change cycle, second is at the time of winter storage starting in late October/early Nov depending on weather here in Ohio. thanks for sharing the video!

Can’t believe my local Porsche dealership wants $450 for an oil change. Straight robbery.

GtMachine, where did you buy the oil filter and washer for the drain plug at?

I got them from Delaware Porsche online parts website. I would just take the part numbers and google search. Depending on where you live it might be cheaper for shipping to get it from a dealer closer to where you live.
