A couple of suggestions. 1. Make sure the engine is as warm as possible to keep the contaminants in suspension. 2. When replacing the filter be sure to clean the mating surface on the engine. I also use the ziploc bag technique as well. Thanks!
Another great video. Just curious, from the level you were at at ~156% of oil, how much did you add since you could add I think it was like 1.57L? Since the car has a large sump, and the somewhat wonky system Porsche uses, it seems using the iCarsoft is a great idea, but what is the actual target, do you just follow the refill quantity to max recommendations?
@@gtmachine6134 55k mi . Change oil every 5k mi. I can't complain about this oil, it holds up pretty well ( I haven't used any other oil to compare it with) I don't track my car (no time) but I do take the car periodically to the canyons, Malibu canyon and Angeles Crest hwy here in southern California, and I run relatively hard when I'm up there and at the end of the day I don't burn any oil. Hi. Can you comment on how you’re revving to 8500? Stock I believe the redline is like 7600-7800, but the fuel cut off is 8000. Did you get a tune to raise the fuel cut off? If so, which tune? Have you used it enough to comment on safety?
I have the Dundon D4 Pro Tune. It raised the redline. I don't drive it that much to really know if its truly "safe". However I have not heard anything bad about Dundon Tunes.
I have always run Motul 8100 excess 5w40 in my GT4. I am always looking for something better as I'm kind of an oil nut but not an oil expert. Just wondering if you can comment on why you chose the 300V above the oil Motul recommends for our cars? I change my oil every six months despite only a couple thousand miles between changes so I am not looking for an oil that has to last forever. Appreciate your thoughts. Well done.
Thanks for the comments. I went with the 300V since its a more track focused oil and my engine will rev to 8500 rpm's. It was also recommend by others who have GT3's and GT4's. It also quiets down the valve train after spirited drives. I was getting some valve train noise with the mobil 1. I change mine once a year as I only put on around 1500-2000 miles per year.
I had the same question regarding oil replacement (mobil 1 vs 300v) as I used 300v on motorbikes for track use. Porsche recommend A40 oil because they developped their engine with this specific oil. Im pretty sure the 300v has better friction coef...etc but it is not A40 compliant so in the end I stuck on Mobil1 5w40.
@@gregg5473 I'm just testing it to see how well it is as compared to mobil 1. I have always ran Mobil 1 in all of my performance cars and had 0 issues over 20 years. I think its probably better to switch to 5w40 from 0w40 as most don't drive in that cold of weather to need the ease of starting that the 0 provides.
@GTMachine how the 300v is going so far? Mobil 1 - 5w40: cSt @ 40ºC = 83.6 mm2/s cSt@ 100ºC = 14.2 mm2/s HTHS, cSt at 150ºC, ASTM D 4683 = 3.9 mPa.s Mobil 300v : cSt @ 40ºC = 81.8 mm2/s cSt@ 100ºC = 13.6 mm2/s HTHS, cSt at 150ºC, ASTM D 4683 = 4.1mPa.s Light differences that could benefit for track use
No the headers do not come with an O2 extender. You would need 1 of those. The one i used was a Vibrant J style which came with 3 orifices. I used the medium one and I have had any cel's for cat eff since I have had it installed.
@@sunny8784 The lift cost me 4K all in. I installed it myself. I have videos of the install on here. I had to spend an additional 600 for items to install it. most of the money was the hydraulic lines i want to get to be able to remote mount the pump and reservoir and not use the supplied cart.

Thank you from France for your videos !! ;)
Welcome
Put a large ziplock bag over the filter housing when removing it. All the oil will just drip into the bag and not all over the subframe.
That's a good Idea.
I fitted a ValvoMax drain plug on my 981 last oil change. I think it’ll be much cleaner next oil change.

I just used best guess and experience from working on cars for over 10 years a professional career.
Small point - you said 6mm Allen for the drain plug. Believe it’s 8mm.
That's what i use on my 991.1 c2s.😊
Awesome. Did you notice any difference?
