Thx for the video, very helpful… Why did you choose the Morene and not Garmin or Wahoo??
No problem! I probably got the cheapest I could get to do the job, as it was only getting me by whilst I was injured for running. Not sure to be honest
Are you still off the caffeine? I know this video is 3 years old 😮
Time flies doesn’t it. Yes mate pretty much! I have some chocolate and some decaf for taste but in small enough amounts that a have zero old symptoms. Best thing I ever did to clear my neck tension issues. Are you trying it?
@ good man! So happy to hear that haha. No, I’ve tired and failed many times to quit caffeine only to go back to it. It’s ridiculously difficult for me. Alcohol on the other hand is easy to quit, but caffeine is another level. So I congratulate anyone who manages to quit caffeine and stay off it! Well done sir
@@CT-pv9gu thank you. Maybe one day something will change for you and it will become easier. All the best

Do you have the link gor the cleaning kit. Thank you

Stay positive mate. Hope it gets better. Thanks for the update
Thank you. Determined to get running again!
Wear headphones
True, but you still feel it sloshing about compared to being tight. Fair shout though
Keep going mate. Head up and don’t rush the process. And thanks for your comment on my Chicago run. Keep the faith and as always UTV
Stevo! I am still rooting for you. Gutted that this happened to be the best person possible, but I know you will get through this! What if you start posting around your recovery journey, I would love to watch that too! Or what if you start getting a bike and go for like 100km cycling 😍
Thanks a lot Kevin. I will deffo post about rehab especially if I work it out and can help someone else do the same. I’ve tried cycling, it’s just not the same! I’ll get there buddy this time next year I’ll be back in full flow!
@@StevoRunsThats it! Lets goo!! Lets set a goal on your weight too, this time next year you might be a heavy lifter too 😍 Keep the spirit high Stevo! 🔥🔥
Thanks for the Strava message on the weekend and so sorry to hear you're still having issues. I can only imagine your frustration. Have you thought about doing a few more videos on the strength stuff you're doing?
Hi Ashley, yeah cheers for that, it is very frustrating this one. I’ve been thinking of doing strength videos but nobody records in that gym and I don’t wanna be that dickhead that starts doing it 😂 I’ll try find a way! Thank you and well done again on your 100k
Very annoying to have you running the entire time you are speaking. Couldnt even finish watching.
I mix up making vids whist running and being sat at home. My house is busy with kids so this one was made on the road. My flat feet make my running quite loud so apologies if it wasn’t for you.
Ah no, gutted to hear it’s still not right. Keep your chin up Stevo you will be running again soon
Thanks Billy I will do!
Sorry to hear it’s not easing up mate! 🙁 your doing all the right things 👍 I’m sure in time ( hopefully sooner) 🤞 you will be back running! When I can’t run I feel lost as well 😔 running is more than running! 🙌 it helps us prove to ourselves what we are capable of 👊 you will be back doing what you love soon mate! Keep your head up! 🙂
Thanks a lot Michael! Determined to get it sorted no matter how long it takes.
Sorry to hear the injury has not progressed yet. The strengthening is helpful....for later. Today's issue is your foot rigidity though. I'd speak to an osteopath and ask them to increase supination using METs and articulation the feet.
Interesting, I’ve not heard of these so I’ll have a look into this for sure. Thanks you very much!
I am pretty sure I acquired this same injury after my 3:34 marathon in April of this year. I think it was from wearing Nike Vapor Flys all the time during my training and past 3 marathons. I overpronate and the VaporFlys were not stable enough. I am convinced those trainers wrecked my PTT. I had to take a solid 6 weeks off. Just walking and lifting. I also found a helpful video of PTT strengthening exercises. I also wore orthotics until it felt better and was able to stop wearing those. I feel 95% healed. I was able to lightly train for my 6th marathon which was Berlin but since my training was a lot lighter I ran a 3:52 and wore stability shoes (Brooks Adrenalines). I just hit 6 months and feel much better. I am still running. I just wear mostly stability trainers and that seems to keep it from flaring.
Cheers for writing and the advice. Yes I’m partly blaming my shoe selection too to be honest. My feet are weak and stiff, they feel dead and I’m putting it down to footwear choice throughout my whole life. My orthotics are in all day now and are staying in. I’ll keep lifting but as I mentioned, I’ll take out the exercises that seem to be flaring it up. Well done on working out what’s worked for you to sort the problem, I’ll hopefully get there too. Cheers
@@StevoRuns It's definitely a patient injury to deal with. Do you know when you are close to healed is when you can do a single heel lift. I do miss Vaporfly fast shoes! It was difficult running the Berlin marathon in my heavy brooks! But I did not upset the PTT and I took an additional few weeks off and I feel fine. Every week with the exercises...it feels better!! Also if you start running again....just easy and slow for a long time. it affected my running gait a lot too!
@@mamalk2697 yes I can do a single leg heel lift fine on both. I’m just not letting it rest enough maybe with work, gym etc. hopefully that means it isn’t too far away if I can heel lift. I will miss my Vapors too mate, they are on eBay as we speak haha. Brilliant shoes but doing more harm than good. Yes, easy miles for me when I’m back and I’ve been told by physio to work on gait too so hopefully this can all help.
Oh mate. What a nightmare. It must be driving you mad. Good on you for persevering and trying different ways to get past it. Keep going bud. I've just developed some kind of heel problem. Being injured sucks but can't imagine being out for a long as you've been. You'll get there fella 💪👍
Thanks, Mark. Yes it’s driving me mad but what can you do… Sorry to hear your heels playing up. If you have any suspicion that it’s tendonitis of Achilles etc then do what you can to clear it asap rather than run it into the ground like i did. Good luck mate, cheers.
Oh sorry to hear this it sounds awful. I've just come back from only 4 weeks off for an injury and was climbing the walls. Sounds like you're doing everything right so hopefully back to it soon 💪
Thank you! Yes 4 weeks is enough to be climbing the walls for sure but I’m glad you’re back running. Sorry I’ve only just seen your channel and subbed. I’ll be back at some point hopefully not too far away. Cheers
No links bro?
No sorry, didn’t think at the time. It’s a camelbak Dart if that’s any help. Cheers
@@StevoRuns got you.
Man. Hours 24 to 48 were ROUGH. I'm on 48 to 72 now. The first 24 hours were the easiest.
They certainly are mate. Hopefully it’s all getting better from now!
Actually four weeks is just the beginning and not enough time to feel the benefits in my experience.
“I find that I give way less craps”. YES THIS. It’s like 80% of that background anxiety went away.
😂 good I’m glad someone else related to that part. I still feel this way after 2+ years of quitting
3 days off now, and the dreams are insanely vivid, and not all in a good way lol. The headaches are mild though, but i feel a bit anxious. does anyone have more anxiety from quitting caffeine? cuz i know quitting is supposed to do the opposite
The dreams are mad ain’t they! I think the anxiety is part of the process buddy and it will wear off as your body gets used to going without caffeine… hopefully anyway.
@@StevoRuns I hop so friend. I hop so. I watched all three videos (I guess it's 3) on the topic of quitting caffeine. Thanks for the motivation bro
@@dn-bayou yeah it’s 3. All still going good. All the best 👍🏼

Great video!
Thanks!
Thank you!
You’re welcome, hope it was helpful!
Is dizziness in the afternoon common when quitting?
Hmm, not that I can remember. Maybe when I stood up I got a bit dizzy but not sure if that was caffeine related. Keep an eye on that mate!
@@StevoRuns yeah cheers mate, only noticed it this past 3 days when I’ve been quitting but might be mistaking it for feeling nakered
To swallow: you must use your teeth??? Or how do you swallow???
You can use your teeth but I pinch the tip with my fingers then put it back in the clip when done.
Cheers for the video!
If I am not able to put the sensor in the midle, can I put in the end of the wheel?
It won’t work on the outside of the wheel mate, it needs to be as near to the centre as it can be.
53 years old day 8 of giving up caffeine, just paused your video on day 3, to say you probably don't feel as bad as you thought, because paracetamol has caffeine in, and to ask are you still off caffeine?
Hello. Well done for quitting after probably a good few years drinking caffeine! I was corrected on the caffeine in paracetamol, they don’t all have caffeine in unless you choose the ones that do contain it. In my house as a youngster we had the Morrisons tablets and they always had it in and I assumed they all did. I am still off it it’s been a few years and I occasionally have one with caffeine and it makes me feel funny but perked up a bit. I accidentally had a large one from Costa yesterday and can’t remember ask in for decaf and it made me feel weird for hours so I keep off it now and have decaf which doesn’t affect me at all. How are you feeling after 8 days?
@StevoRuns thanks for the reply, and well done, you, I wasn't sure giving up caffeine would be beneficial in the long run. As I've never heard from anyone telling me if they thought it was worth giving up or not.. so I took to UA-cam, I've seen on a other channel saying it takes at least 3 weeks before you body is free of caffeine I'll give it that long at least. Thanks 😊
Went from a summer filled with tons of amazing trail runs including a 45 miler and a marathon. To tripping in my yard on the way to the garage. I suspect a break. Super stupid. Your video gives me hope. 🖖🏻
😂 typical mate ain’t it! I hope it’s not as bad as you fear buddy and you are back on the trails soon.
Literally still wearing my splint after surgery from fracturing my left fibula.. rolled it outwards while hiking. On the one hand I really can't wait to be mobile again, on the other, I can still feel my bone breaking and I'm terrified to run or really get back on it.
Hi. What a nightmare! You think about it breaking a lot after the injury and I still think about the noise mine made now. Yours does sound worse than mine and if it feels weak still then it definitely needs more time to heal, unfortunately. Be patient and you will make a full recovery im sure! All the best
Ive also bought Garmin heart rate monitor chest strap. How should i have my heart rate settings on Garmin connect app. for this to work with heart rate zone's.
Thank you!
You're at the wrong tunnel. This one you ran through is in fact Grenofen tunnel. The tunnel that is haunted is Shaugh tunnel also known as Leighbeer tunnel. It has a bend in the tunnel and you cannot see one end to the other. It is of course still on the same former railway route. It is located near Shaugh Prior.
😂😂 no way! So there wasn’t any ghost dogs in this one haha. Thank you for this, I did wonder about the curve in the picture I found on google. And the tunnel I was in always felt longer than I read online. I won’t be visiting shaughs tunnel anytime soon! Thanks for the clarification
Hi Stevo, I came by to your channel as I was being anxious about a calf strain 4 weeks before my marathon. And I saw you went through the same experience few years back. Just seeing if I can get some tips from you to manage it and if you think I can still do my marathon. 💔 as of today 3.5 weeks away, I still havent run for the last 3 days, do you mind telling me when you find yourself ready for long run? for me i have no pain on walking, but tinggling when running (on landing). Thanks in advance Stevo. Cheers, Kevin
Hey Kevin. Sorry to hear that buddy, something always pops up when you get near to marathon day! If I remember rightly I had a certain spot right in the centre of my calf that felt like a dead leg and it took a while. I depends on the severity of your injury I guess, if it’s just tingling now then hopefully it’s on the way to getting better and the last thing you want to do is twang it again. Stretching, icing and foam rolling didn’t help me if I remember rightly, it can just aggregate it further but I’m not experienced in getting rid of injuries really. Are you due your longest run this weekend? and what are your longest runs so far in this plan? I would say the bulk of the work is done and I’d be tempted to let it heal as much as it needs even if that takes you into taper weeks. Youre better off going into it very slightly less fit and pain free than it being game over after one mile with your calf pulling. Sorry i can’t be more help but every case is different so I’d just play it by ear and do what you can when you can.
Sorry me again, maybe if it’s still painful after the weekend, you could do some other cardio like cycling to keep your fitness up towards the race, that would give it time to heal fully and keep you sharp. I’m sure you will suss it out!
Thank you so much Stevo for replying. I am a solo runner, so its nice to talk to someone. So this is roughly my mileage for the last 4 weeks Week 4 - 90km (Long run 34km) Week 5 - 87km (Long run 30km) Week 6 - 81km (Long run 34 km) Week 7 - 60km (Long run 22km) Week 8 - 59km (injured on Thursday) Week 9 - this week Week 10 - next week Week 11 - taper week Week 12 - race week on sunday So I got injured in my week 8 where I just finished a down week, but I got carried away trying to do 12-15k a day from 10-12k a day. seems the overtraining got me. This week was supposed to be my biggest week to hit 34-36k but certainly wont be able to do that i think. I went to my physio who cleared me to run 5k on a Friday and if ifs good to run 10k on Sunday (Saturday rest). Today which is Wednesday, I can already do 3 set of 20 single leg calf raise and 3 set of 10 single leg hop lunges. It seems that I can run, but again don't know if Friday is too soon or too late, and dont know how should i plan my remaining weeks. Also, I don't have a coach either, I was mainly trying to run everyday (easy slow run) with long run on Sunday. Thanks again Stevo! for the response I cant imagine I got a response 😊. Appreciate it 🙏
Hey anytime buddy I love talking running! It sounds like you’ve got some really good running weeks in before your calf strain so I wouldn’t panic. What the physio said sounds like good news to me and I’d feel encouraged that I’d be fine for the marathon. I would do as they said with the 5k and 10k but if you’re worried about it flaring up then you could start next week with what you was due to do this week. Just keep in mind how you hurt it in the first place, it’s so easy to get carried away, I’ve been there too many times and am dealing with my worst injury to date from ultra training! All the best to you and please let me know how it’s going or how the marathon went! Cheers
@nandapartners and remember, like 80% of a completed marathon plan is good enough so you’re right on par to get there in good fitness. There’s always some sort of set back. Cheers
Day 5 🫠
Not feeling good huh 😂
@@StevoRuns💚 noooooo..... day 6 better though!
I want to quit taking caffeine, but is it worth it? I only drink 1 cup a day
What’s the reasons for wanting to quit? If it’s only one per day and you have no side effects then you’re fine, but you want to quit, so there must be something telling you to stop? It shouldn’t be too difficult for you to give it a try and see what difference it makes and see if one coffee is actually worth having or is it making you tired etc. I would stop for a month and see. All the best
@StevoRuns sleep issues so yeah I need to quit it, I'll just stick with creatine
He went super sayian on day 7
😂
Do you have a picture of the xray please
I don’t have a picture I’m afraid. The x ray showed a piece of the bone had come off the bottom of my ankle, right on the tip. Sorry I haven’t a pic to show you
Helpful! Thank you!
Hope you recover soon! are you still caffeine free? (just curious after a video about it from you)
Thank you, it’s been a long lay-off already but I’ll get there. I’m still off the caffeine as such, I occasionally have a normal coffee if that’s all that’s available but I haven’t had enough to cause any old issues I used to have. I do enjoy decaf though, it tastes the same to me but without the symptoms. Thanks
Very similar to my experience. I feel like a new man. Like I’m finally a functional human being. Like I can finally begin to live. No social anxiety either. I’m 63. Try dandelion tea bags. Tastes very similar to coffee. I get 2 cups from one bag.
That’s brilliant that’s it’s made such a difference for you too! I definitely makes you want to carry on being caffeine free doesn’t it. I’ve never seen dandelion tea bags anywhere but I sure will have a look for some, thanks for the tip!
@@StevoRuns Hell yeah ! I really am blown away by the positive effects Ive experienced. Especially sleeping better. It’s something Ive struggled with all my life and social anxiety/ shyness. I’m Australian, maybe the dandelion tea is easier to get here ? I eat white chocolate too, these days (no caffeine) Great video. 😊👍✌️
Thank you for this video! I am on day 10 and already improved.
10 days is awesome, you’ve broke the back out of the hardest part! Keep going
Sad to hear you’re still struggling with your injury but at least you’re doing everything you can to get back running again in the future. Sorry to hear about the injury- always enjoy your videos. Good tip re monitoring the calories. Was wondering do you have a daily target you try to keep to?
Sorry for the delay Gavin. Yes I’m having 1950 calories a day at the moment just to get to my required weight then will keep monitoring to stay as I am which is just under 2500 a day.
Great update, was wondering how you were doing. Hang in there, you'll get back to running
Thanks Ashley. Hopefully bud 👍🏼
Sounds horrible 🙈
It’s not pretty Stu 😂
I've been suffering with this injury for 18 months, it's horrid. Mine is mild now but I'm only able to run once a week or it flares up again. Collapsed arches is what I worry about going forward. I hope you get your solution very soon 🤞🏻
I’m sorry to hear that Shara. It really is a hard injury to get over as there’s so many causes for it, over doing it, weak or tight calves or glutes, some people just have flat feet, maybe too much pavement running! There’s so much to think about. Unfortunately, my arches seem like the damage is done so on to the next step and as you said, it’s a lengthy process 😢. When I come back I will 100% swap some running days with other cardio sessions to not put too much pressure on it. All the best to you and I hope it can be resolved soon for us both. Thanks
Sorry to hear about the injury. Can you walk around okay? Orthotics will help but it could take a while. I'd ask an osteopath to articulate your feet. The limited range of motion in the joints of your feet is causing the tib post tendon to struggle to invert
Thanks mate. I can walk around fine to be honest. Each long day at work takes its toll though and I’m finding pain is radiating to the outside of my ankle so I’m sure there’s some weakness in my feet or I’m walking funny to compensate not pronating too much. I get cramp in my feet very easy when I crunch my toes or walk bare footed so there’s some issues in my feet in general and they have very limited range of motion so I will look up foot articulation, I’ve never heard of that. Thanks for the advice
