Just caught (no fishng pun intended) you channel while I was searching for Spiny dogfish b/c of the PBS special called "Change in the Water" and one of the segments focused on local fishing and how a lot is shipped when it's perfectly good to be eaten in the U.S. and they did a piece on New Jersey and Dogfish, Ive asked my local fish monger to see if they can carry it but also wanted to learn more and your channel was very informative, I really like the fish school segment and of course then when you cook it so I can see some possibilities for the food. Well produced channel as well. Hope your channel starts getting more followers, it's solid. will subscribe.

I was lucky enough to have gone out in northern NJ two Saturdays in a row early November. Best time fishing I’ve had in a long time, worth the 4 hour round trip to the beach. Both days red head lures were on fire, but the one I had best results was on the pencil popper Cotton Cordell red head like the one you used in this video. As you mentioned I also downgraded from a backpack to a smaller hip pack, walking up and down the beach chasing fish with a big bag gets overwhelming as I age. I love Dogfish to eat. Also they make wonderful bait for bigger sharks. Usually I get a lot of staring people. When I start putting Dogfish, stingray, lizard fish and other fish into my cooler.

Sam how do you connect lures to your main line when surfcasting? Im guessing you have a length of mono or flouro leader connected to the braid from the reel? Do you use a paper clip style clip to the lure?
