I knew your channel would start to blow up. Such good B roll footage and not too much of it. You provide the gear info consistently as well as weather and tide stats. All the things real fishermen want to know immediately and also what all new fishermen need to know and understand.
Just came across your videos today. I always wanted to fish from the beach where my wife will stay all day Sandy hook is her spot. A lot of useful info that I need
Glad that these videos could be of help, thank you again for your generosity I truly appreciate it a ton! Hope you’re able to get in on some fish this fall and prep for next season as well!
@@SaltySamFishinghm. Surf was a lot rougher where I was. I used your rig from the last video and still did not seem heavy enough in the surf haha. Worked great in the inlet.
@@christopherhill2893 oh yeah the surf was definitely rough this weekend! That’s great to hear that you were able to try out the rig and we’re crushing them on it!
I like more feel and the quarter ounce is just too light to me. Especially in heavy current. I go 1/2 oz with the single jig method. It may suit you as well
I see what you mean, quarter oz definitely can feel really light especially when the surf is rougher. Keying in on the feel of the jig was tough but got easier as the day went on. Practice makes perfect though, I'll try out the 1/2oz, thanks!
@@SaltySamFishing 👍👍Something else to consider is if you're conservation minded like me is that if you lose that connection to and feel of that jig the chances of gut hooking them increases. If they strike then that 2 or 3 seconds makes a big difference
Cooking and fishing got me into the single jig method, I find it extremely fun and more effective than dragging a sinker around with a dropper loop. Just a question, what is your reasoning in hooking your jerk shad "upside down", I notice fishaholic does the same thing.
I agree it is super fun! To be completely honest with you, I wish I could give you a solid answer but, I don’t have a good reason for rigging it that way 😂
Hope everyone had a fun Fourth of July! Have you tried the single jig technique? Let me know your thoughts in the comments and thanks for watching!

Thanks David, I appreciate that and your support as well! Hope you're getting into some good fishing up north.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. This channel deserves all the success and support!
@@SaltySamFishing The bunker have just arrived in huge numbers, the stripers won't be far behind.

Thanks Tucker, I appreciate the kind words!
Thanks!

Always learning, thanks for the good content.
Thats what it’s all about, always learning! Thanks for watching!
Hoping the weekend rain has them fired up since I booked a spot last month
Fingers crossed 🤞!
Cool video what’s with all the small fish
Thanks for watching! It’s just been a brutal year across the board with shorts. Hopefully it picks up towards the end of the season!
Another outstanding video.
Glad you enjoyed! 👍
It seems like Cooking & Fishing does a way different retrieval process with the single jig. He does a lot longer twitch of the rod
Yeah, I've noticed that too. I've seen a few different retrieve styles and am trying them out to find what I prefer!
Hello , very nice video as usual to succeed.
Thanks!
Sundial 😮👍
Great video. Maybe try the jerk bite next time? That will be awesome
I definitely want to give that a shot!
A sundial was the first fish I caught on the fourth north end of LBI the rest of the day not so good one small dogfish in the afternoon
The day was tough overall for sure, but hey sounds like you got in on some action at least. Hope it was a fun fourth!
Surf or inlet? I was in sea isle on the 4th but had no luck from surf not a bite. Day before in inlet was crushing them
Surf! I haven’t made my way to any inlets yet but likely will soon.

I like that hat , if you don’t mind where can I get one ?
I’m glad to hear that! It’s part of my upcoming merch collection which will be dropping very soon.
whats your rod / reel combo used?
7’ Fish Heads Inshore Series rod with a 3000 Penn Battle DX
🎉
🤙
@SaltySamFishing I need it too. way more to go!
I don’t think you said but it looks like you were dragging it along the bottom?
Reeling really slow and constantly jigging to keep it a little off the bottom!
Were you dragging it along the bottom? You didn’t say!😢
Nope, bouncing the jig off the bottom
What lb main line do you use with the single jig
20lb Courtland braid
The baits youre using are rigged uside down. Is this purposely
Unintentional but I’ve heard it gives more action to the tail!
Take notice the fisher biting in the white water so don’t cast how far has parallel to the beach. You’ll do much much better.
Thats true! I always fan cast the spot to make sure I get along the bank. Always get a lot of hits there.
