I'd add a glide/twitch bait to my must have on the beach. For customs made glide baits I like the Alan's Combat and for off the shelf I like the Yo-Zuri Twitch Bait.
Sam how do you connect lures to your main line when surfcasting? Im guessing you have a length of mono or flouro leader connected to the braid from the reel? Do you use a paper clip style clip to the lure?
Yep that’s exactly it, I have 50lb mono tied to the braid and then a TA clip! The 50lb can be kind of overkill to be honest, 30lb can work fine as well.
Great video and nice catches! I carry everything you mentioned in my fall bag. One thing I would add is a needlefish when the sand eels are around. It can be very productive along with a teaser ahead of it.
It was pretty cool to see those deer, they were just hanging out in the middle of the road, not seeming to care! Agreed local is always best especially when it comes to tackle shops 👍
Thanks for posting another entertaining and informative video. Finally shook the skunk myself with my first striper from the surf last Sunday. It’s been pretty frustrating going out every weekend only to see and hear great reports of weekday action.
Thank you for watching and congrats on breaking the skunk, that's always the best feeling! I totally agree, something about weekdays-the bass just know everyone's at work and can't go fishing. Then the weekend comes around and they decide to chill out. Hopefully the next few weekends make up for it!
@ About that plug bag, it looks nice, and the price is right, but is it big enough to hold what you need to target fall stripers? Right now I’m carrying a big, heavy backpack that I leave on the beach and have to get out of the water to change up lures. Certainly would be an upgrade from my current setup, but I’m wondering if the five-tube medium bag might be better?
Absolutely! I often use teasers, but the only times I don't are when I have to launch my lure out to reach the fish which was the case most of this day. Thank you, I appreciate it!
Thank you! Only usually able to get out one day a week which makes it tough haha, always have to go into it hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.
Great video man. I will agree those 20 to 23 inch fish fight way above their weight class. I find once they get to that 30 inch and over mark they gas out after a couple of good runs. Rumor has it there are still a few fish being caught in the Bay of Fundy, mostly on the Nova Scotia side. Getting just a bit too chilly here now, but it won't be long and I'll be on the ice hunting lunkers.
Thanks, David, they really are tough fighters! I definitely believe it, because it has been so warm we kind of had a later start and apparently there are still loads of fish coming down from Long Island. I can almost bet they're still floating around up by you. Good luck this ice fishing season! Something I've never tried but I'd like to-we'll see if we even get ice this year lol.
@@SaltySamFishing Yeah, we didn't have safe ice until almost February last year. All depends on el Nino or El Nina. You should definitely try the hard water, think of all the extra content you could create.
Nice video! Very informative! @SPFishin is my cousin! He's mentioned you before and has been schooling me on the NJ waters. Caught my first tog at LBI!

Sam killer vid!!! Glad you are getting in on the action! I need to get this skunk off 😆
Thanks man, I know you’ll get on them, you’ve been putting in the work, the payoff is on the way!!
Great informative video!!!! Fish Heads is a great store/resource for anglers!!! Congrats!
Thank you, couldn’t agree more, learned a lot from shopping there!
The first spot you hit is always a good bet around here for the striped ones, Pre sunrise is the way over there
It 100% is, I agree!
I'd add a glide/twitch bait to my must have on the beach. For customs made glide baits I like the Alan's Combat and for off the shelf I like the Yo-Zuri Twitch Bait.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve heard great things about glide baits.
Thought you were a southern guy those signs up north threw me. Nice day fishing gonna try to get out this weekend
Nope, spend a lot of time in South Jersey but I’m a Northern guy! Good luck this weekend, hoping it’s one to remember!

See you this weekend if you’re down there!
I’ll be on the hunt again haha, tight lines this weekend!

Thank you! And I for sure need to get myself a needlefish plug!
As always great video, thanks for the beach cam idea will definitely be doing that search before I switch areas
No problem, Lou, thanks for watching!
Awesome catch! good advice too!
Thanks as always! Glad you found it informative!
Great video as always. I love the deer in the beginning. Nice to hear you partnered up with a local business. Always nice to support the local shops.
It was pretty cool to see those deer, they were just hanging out in the middle of the road, not seeming to care! Agreed local is always best especially when it comes to tackle shops 👍
Love it !
Thanks man!
Good video is that a ford Taurus or fusion looks like my car !?
Thank you and it’s a Volvo!
Sick edits bro as usual! Glad you found the bass, keep posting🫡
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Hopefully more fish and more videos to be had before the season's out for the both of us.

I gave up on my penn reels due to water and sand intrusion. The New saltx 2 is great and less money than a van staal.
I've heard good things about the Salt X and the price is certainly appealing!
Thanks for how to catch a striped bass video I just got my first striped bass
That’s great to hear, congrats! I hope you’re hooked on catching them now 😂
@ I wish it was earlier because there’s one week until there gone
@ the way it’s been so warm, we may have fish til new years! It’ll be slow towards the end but they may still be around.
@ so that means there gonna still bite
@ yessir
Greg from fisherman's headquarters gives a great amount of info in his reports.
Agreed, lots of great info!
Do you ever fish a teaser in front of the lure? Congrats on the partnership with FHQ.
Absolutely! I often use teasers, but the only times I don't are when I have to launch my lure out to reach the fish which was the case most of this day. Thank you, I appreciate it!
Great video how many days a week do u go
Thank you! Only usually able to get out one day a week which makes it tough haha, always have to go into it hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.
@SaltySamFishing seems like ur always slaying fish lol good job
@ haha I’m glad you think so! Definitely just as many tough sessions if not more than good sessions, but hey, that’s fishing!

@ that’s true 😂 could help get through the winter of not fishing. We’ll see what this winter brings!
Nice video! Very informative! @SPFishin is my cousin! He's mentioned you before and has been schooling me on the NJ waters. Caught my first tog at LBI!
Thank you, that’s awesome! Tog are so much fun to catch, glad you got on them, it gets addicting!
