Not an hour.
You realize it's a concept not the length of a video, right?
@@Seattle_Speed_Shop Not talking about the length of the video.
@duckhunter8387 cool. Good for you
Where did you get the gas tank
Put it on cement mixer and bbs in it
I mean in gas tank bbs
Iḿ late to the video but did you get it finished? I hope it has a hopped up banger motor!
Like your truck alot!
How does that car have a cowl strip? I thought that was only 30-31?
Question for you Matt, you may have already covered it in another video that I missed but does your pickup have mechanical brakes or did you convert to juice? I've got a lead on a '29 pickup project and I'd really like to do it up similar to yours with a hopped up banger. I still dream of an AV8 roadster but man bangers are cool! Thanks! Keep up the awesome videos.
Keep it all ford or do a hemi swap, just my 2 cents. Love 32 ford 5 window coupes, love the willys as well, love the classic muscle cars from 60's and early 70's also. Nice ride cant wait to see what you guys end up with for a finished product.
Thanks I'm wanting to do this upgrade to my sedan I've got a hopped up banger just curious what's your favorite engine oil for them?
i like it
The rope trick works even better if you jam the rope in both #1 and #4 cylinder.

22:34 your vids are getting better with each one. Great help and influence to get my late 31 finished! Any chance you could post some details on the Mallory distributor ? Is this an aftermarket or old stock? Thanks
Get a bra!
I’ve got a 1938 Right hand drive Hillman Minx. It had the original worm drive so I’m converting it to cross steering.
The information was great. I found myself focusing on when you were going to make the clicking sound than listening. A woodworking youtuber (Blacktail Studios) films, then he edits the video segments and then does a voice over - telling the audience what he is doing. It's a good process.
Nice Coupe! What Size of tires do you drive?

Cool. Im gonna keep watching these videos for fashion tips!
The problem with the F-100 box in a Model A, is that the drag-link operates at an upward angle, resulting in bumpsteer if running a dropped axle dropped
@jeromebreeding3302 so does a stock box or any period correct option. It's a design limitation of side steer/push pull steering and more an issue created from the axle being dropped. The f100 box has nothing to do with the drag link angle. It remains in the stock location. I've put about 25,000 miles on this exact setup in my truck. Bumpsteer is minimal, if non existent, and is really more of a "on paper" issue than a real-world problem.
@@Seattle_Speed_Shop I substituted the F-100 steering box with a modified Corvair box, hung under the frame-rail on my 31 A. This made the drag-link horizontal. That and a Volkswagen bus steering damper, eliminated bump-steer, and it was much quicker lock-to-lock than the truck box.
Another great tutorial! Congrats on the subscribers and hope you're feeling better! Go Seattle Speed Shop, keep moving forward!
Does Randy sell the column with the timing and throttle levers already installed? Did you have to ship the old one to him?
@fredski53 that's a good question. I didn't purchase this unit or talk to Randy this go round. Depending on the year and model of your A, there are some differences. But being a 28-29 7 tooth, the original box and column is 1 piece. Randy supplies the modified column tube made from an original to work on the f100 box. But it was not installed on the box when we got it. On my truck being a 31. I re-used my original column and throttle and spark levers. Doug(the owner) purchased a complete unit without sending a core.
It came complete as shown on the table…timing and throttle levers as well… @fredski53
I am doing a frame off resto on a 1938 Hillman Minx roadster and I had to remove 6 coats of paint because they used a thin coat of Bondo or something under the paint and it was falling off in chunks. I used a metal resurfacer.
What year F-100 box is that, Matt ?

Side shaft power steering box for prewar with heavy engine and wife check Toyota 4 runner, eeeek... change that to wife driver and heavy engine. Pitman arm is up which worked for my 4" dropped F1 axle with a tie rod arm to top spindle bolts from supplier. After market column, fabbed drag link and pitman arm. Matt's right about drilling frames, sharp cobalt drill bits, low speed, cutting oil and heavy push. I use a heavy right angle drill with a force lever. That car sure is proof they look best with fenders and hood.
Im still waiting for the car to be for sale, maybe one day.

Link of where to purchase?
@@johnraskob1996 he does not have a website. Randy Gross Brake Drums, Brake Shoes, Wheel Hubs, and Steering Box rebuild 714-292-8660 melmodela@aol.com
how much does it cost?
@jordanwhite6098 the price varies with or without core. The cars with a 7 tooth box(28-29) need a custom column tube made. As the original is 1 piece with the box housing. And needs to be modified significantly. I wanna say dougs was 1400 shipped. My truck was 800. But I had a core and didn't need a column tube.
Nice job. Horn button/rod can be held down with a yardstick through the steering wheel rim, bent over the button (especially with the ‘30-‘31).
That's a good trick!
Always good stuff, I have a 30 roadster car that I am upgrading wiring and need to put the horn rod back in. You seem to have a video ready and updates me on the process again. Hope you are feeling better this must be a few months old but listed at new. But it's all good knowledge and I work by myself so some of the tricks I will use. Thanks, take care
Happy someone can use this info. Good luck with your project!
Probably one of the best mods for the Model A. With stock size tires it is REALLY easy to steer. Good job.
Couldn't agree more!
Awesome trucks great content thanks for sharing them
Oof! Good thing you're getting that mess off but terrifying what's hidden underneath! A lot of repair and fabrication in the future for this one (which means more videos/content)! Go Seattle Speed Shop, keep moving forward!
Sandblast it to get the paint off, then sand it.😅😅
Yeah, but I'm glad I was there because it gave me a great shot in it's "drip" phase, lol!
@fractaljack it's a great shot Jackson!
Good grief! Any idea what they "painted" it with? I did my old Skylark with Rust-o-leum and even that hardened up and has lasted 10 years. Are you using acetone or lacquer thinner to soften it up and scrape it off?
Lacquer thinner. I'm not sure what they used or what went wrong!
Well, looks like it is cleaning up nicely.
It is!
Looks like a lot of material cost to having that kind of removal. Have you ever tried a Scotch Brite Clean and Strip disc? I stripped a Model A 5 window body of 5 coats of paint with three discs: Scotch-Brite™ 048011-33194 Non-Woven Clean and Strip XT Disc. That's the 4 1/2", comes in seven inch by changing the last number from 4 to 6. Still tedious, but the fastest, economical way I've found.
I haven't, I'll have to look into those. I'm about 60-70 bucks in material costs? One pack of sanding disks, a gallon of lacquer thinner, couple Scotch Brite pads and a roll of paper towels. My main concern would have been the 3m disks getting gummed up with the paint.
The Chev is in near new condition compared to some of the stuff Tim shows getting bought off mid west corn fields. I'd figure that paint was epoxy without hardener except it looks pre epoxy.
It's not terrible, just had some bad work at one point. Mostly a pretty solid car.
Is that a V-12 flathead sitting there? I saw a V-16 flathead one time, the guy said it came out of a Packard, it was just sitting on the ground in his junkyard.
Good eye. It's a lincoln v12. Gonna go in a customers car, hopefully next year.
You know Matt, that car would be really cool with a Pontiac OHC six. And it just so happens.....
I'd be keeping that OHC 6 for myself. Lol
@@Seattle_Speed_Shop Maybe we can work something out...

The 32 is the most sought after . I prefer the 5 Window I have a 33 Chevy Coupe 5 window i made it look like a 32 Ford Coupe!!
So cool a hot rod can survive unchanged all those years!
Definitely lose the swing pedals!! Although a popular mod back in the day, especially when using a hydraulic clutch,. they had their downside too. Tried using them in my 36 coupe and found the firewall would FLEX when applying the brake pedal! Not only that, they interfered w/ taller Edelbrock valve cover on my Olds engine.... The very simple solution today involves using '39 Ford floor pedals. This ONE YEAR ONLY setup makes both clutch and brake linkage a breeze! Only problem, of course, is finding them today, (and most all will need to be re-bushed...)
