    The first thing I thought when the big Ford came into view was a rollback. I just recently found your channel and I'm enjoying the content.

    Post war 3 speed R10 ODs fit prewar Ford? They will NOT survive yblocks but they survive 6's and flat 8s............. until the od case runs dry. I've seen good ones tossed to scrap. I use T85 R11 ODs in all my performance Fords. All parts still available.

    Not sure how your channel "popped up" but 😍
    Both are beautiful, but I LOVE the pickup!
    The model A was built to handle the gravel and dirt "roads" at the time. Ruts and all. They were NOT meant for modern highways. The flathead in 32 was meant to produce more power, not speed!
    To remove the fenders AND the floorboards is disrespectful, unless you were going to Bonneville in 1950, after serving in the war 🇱🇷
    I wish I could find, and afford, an unmolested pickup and a '32 WITH FENDERS AND FLOORBOARDS!

    My Dad's basically stock full fendered 29 Tudor with a B cam would hit 65 mph on the flat and maintained 70 for a couple miles after a downhill run....but in an A, that's screaming rpm wise, with a stock bottom end. Remember, over 3,500 rpm is pushing the splash oiled connecting rods close to the limits of their capability to oil themselves. Anything over 4,000 rpm needs a modified pump and full pressure oiling.
    And at 60+ mph you're going to have your hands full keeping it in your lane unless your steering is perfect.
    with old cars like these, it's not about how fast you go....it's more about how well you go fast.
    Like Matt says, keep your expectations realistic and you can have a blast driving an A close to it's limits....but it does have limits.
    P.S. Hey Matt, haven't you fed that poor skinny cat of yours yet?
    I keep telling you it's going to run out of mice, some time...

    I have a pretty peppy B engine in my 28RPU and it will go easy 70 ...no Fender no hood chopped windshield.... and I think that gains the equivalent of 15 more HPs

      I would agree on that assessment. Much more streamlined. The fenders are like a parachute!

  •  4 місяці тому +1

    Great video as always. Is there a point in hopping these engines up that you would worry about over stressing the frame?

    • @Seattle_Speed_Shop
      @Seattle_Speed_Shop  4 місяці тому +1

      Not really. I don't believe you can make enough power with a banger to stress it too much.

    Is the Ford boogie band a period piece? It certainly looks the part.
    I've wanted to buy a 68 to 74 Ford van for a couple years now and I just haven't manned up and done it I keep getting distracted with model A's

    How much space do u have from the radiator to the firewall on a model a or b pickup. I scored a 300 with a 5 speed . Woundering if it would fit in a model b.

    • @Seattle_Speed_Shop
      @Seattle_Speed_Shop  4 місяці тому

    I think 60mph in a stock A would be too high an rpm for the bearings.
