I inherited one of these from a relative. This car is a pain. Who the hell creates a car where the battery is in the trunk and you need power to open the trunk. This is one of the dumbest design decisions I've seen in any product. Do other cars have this "feature"?

I have a Maserati Quattroporte that had an awful case of these sticky buttons Everywhere in the car. I tried these Neutrogena wipes, and they didn’t work at all; I tried alcohol that didn’t work. I tried gasoline that didn’t really work. Gone goo, almost everything that everybody has said works, did NOT work for my car. The only thing that worked was liberally using acetone to get everything off and then I had to sand the plastic and paint it. I’m gonna make a video showing exactly what I did because they turned out perfect but I’m not understanding why methods like this seem to work for some cars, but they certainly did not do a darn thing for my Quattroporte. And trust me, I really wish it would’ve worked because the acetones really stings if you have any cuts or abrasions on your hand. I had to liberally work it off of the plastic while submerged in the ass tone to get everything off. There was minimal sanding but it did discolor the plastic so it was necessary to primer and paint it with the appropriate plastic paint and then I sealed it with some opaque clearcoat and it actually looks better than new.

Are you F’n KIDDING ME??? I would hate to be this guys wife. Holly shit, he’s the biggest nit-picker I’ve ever seen. I bought my 2011 XJ new and I couldn’t watch this any further than his bitching about the fuse locations. NOTHING he has complained about are issues for 99% of the owners, I can guarantee you. The ONLY one that is real to me is the reflection from the chrome on the console. I solve that problem for the brief time that the sun is at the wrong angle, simply by laying my right hand on the console. Problem solved. Don’t worry about ANY of these issues.

This worked on my DNX693s, but it's slightly different, first you go to Setup --> Bluetooth --> Scroll down to Tel Setup.

I have had a 5.0 supercharged 2012 portfolio, short wheel base, not offered in the US. Done about 70T miles. None of those issues and my drivers seat leather is in excellent condition. I agree with some other posters attributing many issues to the collision. It is clear this car was repaired to a poor std. The JAGA501-001 was issuwd 4 yeats before the launch of the model. BTW all x351s up to late 2012 will rust due to the steel frame bonded to the aluminium body without adequate protection preventing electrolysis. You must rectify this issue. I will add you should put in new engine mounts around 55 to 60t miles and subsequent intervals. You need to blow out the drain holes cause they get blocked with dust/debri. It needs to be serviced every year. Also put on EBC pads. Way better for performance and dust. Best saloon I have ever had. I have had Ferraris blah blah and have a Merc SLS Roadster owned for last 6 years. This XJ is a very good drivers car.

Once the first end of the ground clamp is placed, some people prefer to complete the circuit to the helping vehicle's ground (or jumping box negative terminal) before connecting the first positive clamp to the discharged battery. If you have both the positive and negative clamps of one end of the boosting cables connected, and then inadvertently cross the opposite end's pair of clamps (mishandling, wet surface, helper vehicle's exposed underhood metal, your ungloved hands...), sparking or much worse can happen, especially if the assumed dead battery isn't. Great series, thanks for all aspects of your XJ experience.
