At the time of creation this was the only video on UA-cam to offer a full walkthrough on not only how to install them but how to obtain them as well. I've just bought an 2012 3.0ltr supercharged XJ portfolio (2013 model) it has such low mileage it's basically a new car. The first thing I thought of doing was a headlight upgrade. Glad to see it can be done. I didn't like the wires clipped across the air filters though, that's something I'd have to discuss with my jaguar specialist. But thanks for the video.
I am glad you like it and congrats on your Jag! In order to enable the DRL it must be plugged into a fuse. This is in all cases and you do not have to do it the way I did you can make it look cleaner but after all this time I have not had any issues nor has any of the other people. Good to see you upload man. I’m from ny too, have you ever gotten a ticket bc of not having a plate on the front?
Always love a fellow New Yorker! And what’s funny Is that I have had it off for over 2 years and I’ve only got pulled over once for it but let go. If I got a ticket I still would not put it back on, I would just consider it a cool car tax. However, keep in mind not having a front plate means no matter what you do you can be pulled over at anytime. Your car is never legal and cops always have probable cause to pull you over. Keep that in mind.
They had that strip in the very corner for an indicator then didn’t use it, the strip that in America is always orange (on the old lights ) on the new it was just clear which looked so much better but that strip didn’t do anything

You are very welcome and no issues at all. They are perfect. And yes it has daylight running lights now it’s my favorite part.
The UK version lights the led day running lights are the indicators which look really nice I've got a 2013 version with the signature light at bottom you can make it come on only if you turn your switch to side lights but the newer lights look better I would love to do this for mine as well.

Thank you, after the lockdowns no Flying Spur too broke. Really considering this instead but it's been hard to get details. Add good rims, and paint correction smiling for years. Currently the only safety alert i have is the aftermarket exhaust's purr.

@@XJLuxury Tried the facewipes on buttons, worked 😭😭 but Johnsons brand easier to find in SAfrica. ***The spare wipes also didwonders descaling the grille in oneswipe.

Thanks and in the case of my car one of the headlight harnesses are creased a certain way and when I straighten the wires out it didn’t work properly but then when I re-creased the wires it worked otherwise you must use the proper wire harness for your vehicle for example if your vehicle has adaptive headlights you must get the adaptive wire harness with the adaptive headlights
@@XJLuxury thank you. I have a 2015 XJ with adaptive headlights. I changed out my headlights with more adaptive and my light is flashing. I didn’t have to switch out wires. However, I wish I had waited until after I saw your headlights to make my purchase 😉.

How do i make my 2012 xjl have adaptive with the stock lights too? And the rear left window doesnt seem to want to open fully on first full push down. Tried resetting doesn't work

Did you get any lights on the dash when you did the conversion, also does everything work on the updated headlights as it should OEM?
No there are no lights because it is oem. Everything works on the new lights except the auto high beams aren’t working properly so I just disabled that.
I'm a Jaguar freak and I love my S-Type so I still have them two of them and I just bought this XJ be careful taking off the bumper because the sensors in the front will become loose and fall out I tried putting mines back in but they came out again so I got this beeping noise while I'm driving but when you accelerate it goes away so I have to take back off the bumper again I hate that you got to go into menu to check your oil level
Welcome to the XJ family. Yes you are right that you could mess up the sensors when taking off the bumper therefore you need to be very careful. I am going to release my bumper video very soon. Yes I hate that you have to go into that menu to check your oil too but that’s how modern vehicles work nowadays.
Great video! Awesome car. I thinking about getting a 2011-2017 Jaguar xjl portfolio. I was saving roughly $17-$21k so I can buy it flat-out. Depending on the price of the LED headlights with wire the harness and the condition of the vehicle... I'm willing to go with a low mileage, one owner 2011-2014 XJL and save a few grand. I'll be back in a few months once I purchase the vehicle. Hopefully by then you can still share information on the pricing.

You need to search about the XF upgrades online. This is for an XJ but I think it would work. Also search the harness on AliExpress
Have you considered swapping out the license plate lights with white led's? I tried to pop them out with a screwdriver but was scared I might break it
So I originally did consider doing that however when I told my friend my plan he said that jaguar knows what they are doing and it looks really good with incandescent lights and I agreed with him.

Nope no issues. Only issue is the auto brights aren’t working. It’s due to the headlights but I just disabled that feature.

I got trouble with the fuse box. What's F14 code fuse item on yours? I've tried with the starter n ignition coil fuses, it popped up low battery warning. And also tried with the monitor and air conditioning fuses, the daylight has no response....
I believe that is a fuse for something related to the diesel engine which mine does not have however it still gets power. I would definitely not suggest that you connect it to anything important such as the starter or the ignition coil. Try using a voltage meter and seeing all the blank fuses in your vehicle and find out which one is on when the car is on and off when the car is off.

i just noticed that your corner lights are not working. what about the fixed afs ones? and the whole afa system?
So unfortunately I don’t think my corner lights are working. But you can’t tell that from the video because they only come on when the car is moving and you’re turning. The AFS system works completely but the auto high beam system isn’t working.
The problem I ran into when installing these is the fan inside the headlamp to keep the headlamp cool stays on at all times. The fan never stops? It’s constantly pulling power.. any ideas how to fix this? Thx
Where did you buy the headlights from? Also maybe you install them on a fuse that is always on try switching it to a fuse that is off when the car is off.
Is the light output much better as I have an xjl with adaptive lights and they must be the worst head lights I have ever had and I thought the xf was bad until I got hid's for that. I must add that the previous owner did spray a tint on them, but even though they are dire to say the least.
The output of the new headlights are almost unbelievable. I can honestly say they are without a doubt 10 times better than the HID versions.

So the older model parking lamps can be turned on as DRLs by the dealer....for 150/side I'm assuming??
Yes the led strip on the bottom of the lights can be turned into a daylight running light at the dealer. They quoted me like 100-150 total, not for each side.

@XJLuxury I emailed you a few days ago with a headlight related question. Do you know if there is anything that can prevent the newer UK XJ lights supplied from China from working on our US XJ's. I own a 2012. The supplier from China stated that they only tested the lights on the European version not the US so they're unsure.

I don’t think I would like the way it looks on the car but it’s a good idea
You should consider upgrading the screen next, to the newer version. It’ll be faster and bigger, it’s like 700-1000 but I think it’s worth it if you plan on keeping the car for awhile
I was actually thinking about adding Apple CarPlay to it. I don’t like changing any screens from their factory versions so I would just get an adaptor.

Yes that’s what I want to do. I do not want to replace the screen.
While you had the bumper off to swap the headlight units, why not run the wiring behind it? Also, the wiring from the fuse box could be routed under and the through the wing making it invisible.
Would be interesting to see the wiring diagram.
The wires were too short to do that. I was happy with the way that I wired it but you could do it a different way if you like.

Some vendors told me it needs to be set up by the computer or it will burn out.

No that is completely incorrect. If a vendor says that they are lying and selling a bad product. Many people contacted me who purchased headlights for a vendor that I do not affiliate with and the vendor said in order to turn off the blinking light on your dashboard you must go to the dealership to get it programmed and that is a complete lie they sold them the incorrect headlights for their vehicle. To ensure that doesn’t happen I have a vendor who I am partnered with who has proven himself time and time again Who actually provides the lights specific for the vehicle which need no programming whatsoever. For some reason the auto high beams do not work properly after installing them. I just turned off that feature. Where did you get the headlights from?

I am very curious as to why no one is using the contacts that I put in my video. Is my guys price really that much higher? Yes the automatic high beam function will no longer work with the new headlights.

Got it. Unfortunately that is a side effect of installing these headlights. It must be how the sensor is programmed to detect HID light output instead of the LED

My recent contact is trustworthy but what it comes down to is that you pay them only via PayPal goods and services. That way you were covered in case he doesn’t ship you anything or in case the item arrives damaged.
