The reverse camera was out of commission and on the first cold morning while renting the car, the car refused to start for about 45 mins until it properly warmed up. in only a couple of days I could see just how finicky that car could be. I previously owned a ‘96 Jaguar XJ6 and that car was an absolute dream. Nothing ever broke during my ownership. With that being said, I think I’ll stick with XJ’s in the future.
I have the 2011 XJL black on black absolutely love it! I have a limousine service here in N Dallas. Sometimes I'll use my personal car for pick ups, clients love it! One of my clients asked me if I wanted to sell it. Of course I said no not now. Lol.

The most unappreciated luxury sedan of its time. Brilliant design by Ian Callum brought the XJ into the 21st century and was a refreshing alternative to somber German competitors. Gorgeous interior. And in the XJR, a brilliant engine.A world class car in every way. But by the time of its introduction in the USA, Jaguar's repurposed XJ was no longer on affluent sedan buyers' shopping list. Americans know next to nothing about cars and these days consider only German cars to be eligible in the categories of prestige and engineering. For this reason the XJ was never given a fair chance in the essential American market. Next year, Jaguar will announce a completely redesigned, all electric XJ. If the upcoming electric model lineup does not succeed, funder Tata will pull the plug and sell or retire the brand.
Great comment. The XJ really stands out from the pack. Where did you hear Tata might sell the brand if the redesign doesn’t work? Is that fact or opinion? Jaguar doesn’t do as good as Range Rover but I don’t think they will send the brand.
Hello I have a question if that key cover cap is missing because someone didn't secure it back on properly what's the best place to find that part without going through the dealer?
Could I know what was that scrol inside that glass container hanging from by thread from back mirror? Of-course if it's not a personal thing you don't want to share..
Love your cat! It is my next vehicle purchase. I thoroughly HATE this SUV/CUV craze. Give me a sedan, more specifically, a luxury sedan. As I have aged, I find myself drawn to pre-owned European cars. In 2018, bought a used 2008 VW Passat 3.6L 4Motion Sport ($41,000 in 2008) (Bright Silver exterior, Black leather interior). Has each and every option offered that year on that model. Extremely powerful, timeless styling that STILL looks great. In 2020, I found and purchased my 2010 Mercedes E350 4Matic Sport (Palladium Silver (gray, really), Black interior). Well equipped for a 6 cylinder "E". Absolutely love the 2010-2013 version of the W212 body (but not the refreshed 2014... front styling looks too "Skeletor" for my taste). I would have preferred a black color, but in my area, there aren't any British/German car dealerships locally - nearest an hour away. Happened to run across my "E" on the 1st day it was advertised, drove and bought it the same day. So as soon as I get the Mercedes paid off in a year or so, I will be looking for a 2011-2013 Jaguar XJL Supercharged, probably in Black or maybe White (the 'C' pillar will PROMPTLY be painted body colored as the black one it comes with is my only complaint with the entire vehicle). Lunar Blue with Blue interior is a possibility, too. Oh, and I want one with less than 40,000-45,000 miles. I have no issue paying $22-25,000 for a perfect example. Sorry the post is soooo long and drawn out. I just found it nice to see someone else who appreciates classy vehicles like me! I hope you still have yours. Maybe I'll make a vid of my 3 (or 4... An ultra low mileage 1996-2002 MB E320, E420/E430 or maybe an E55 Sedan in Smoke Silver is on the menu, too) vehicles!
About seat belts bulling after strong pushing brakeing, beside it would save a front seater at accidents, the hard brake will the seater forward and could hit his head on car's front glass or decor, or a rear bassinger could hit back of front seat, mostly won't cause serious damage but it will hurt.
I am not single but I also don’t have a family and I own this car. I love big sedans so I would get this even if I didn’t have a girlfriend or a family. I would even drive a maybach 62 by myself.
Not sure if this works on this XJ, but on my 2015 XFR if you push the headlight button on the key fob twice the headlights and the reverse lights come on.
You probably know what my answer is going to be lol. I am not a fan of Audi’s in general but I do like the A8L, however, reliability is a major issue with Audi’s. I would still go with the jaguar. It’s more stunning and has been very reliable to me.
I’m really leaning on getting one of these but i was scared of the maintenance it’d might need so i bought a Cadillac XTS love it but i really want this car
🔴 Hello, I'm a #NewSubcriber to your channel. I'm curious to know if you will do a review of how much you spend in maintenance cost, the reliability of this car and major flaws if any.
Do you notice a knocking sound? I hear it in yours which sounds exactly like mine... I have no engine lights on or no indication that anything is wrong... But sometimes i wonder if thats the design or is something wrong...🤔
I am going to make a video on this soon. The 2011 is a good year. It has been very reliable for me. Watch out for my video coming soon about the reliability.
Funny he didn't know the tray tables in the back actually pull out about 2..3 inches. I only know because I have the exact same car. Not much room but definitely noticeable.
It is a lovely car my cousin has the very model you have although her model is from 2018. I'm driving however the Mercedes S-Class AMG 350 and it's a great luxury drive. All the way to 100 mph and it's still only doing 1900rpm, so much torque in that thing! I do prefer aspects of the Mercedes S class over the Jaguar XJ such as the curved dash that has dim lighting that changes colour as you drive, however there are other aspects about the Jaguar I prefer such as the body shape at the back (my Mercs back doors look like enlarged hatch back ones Vs the Jags sleek saloon shape). The rolling massage is better on the Jaguar also, however the Mercedes toshy leather seats are just soft like a foam mattress even your head sinks into it like a pillow. I can't tear them apart really, both are lovely. At least we were smart enough not to drive Audi A8, it's literally just an expensive VW/Skoda (and tbh the Skoda Superb is a great car with the best smart screen - had that too until some moron in a Ford slammed into it after jumping a red light). I agree with you on the Jaguar cupholders in the back being in a slight odd position, the Mercedes has some flaws of where buttons are located for me personally.
Thank you for the comment your Mercedes S class AMG is an amazing vehicle in the interior on that car is my favorite interior of any car and does not compare to the Jaguar. However I do like a jaguar exterior better than the Mercedes exterior. Yes Audi is the same as VW and VW is very unreliable. I know can you believe those cupholders in the back!?
The trouble is that my car is a magnificent series 3 V12 imported from Japan with just 20k on the clock and the nearest thing to brand new as you can get . I feel like the greatest man in the world when I am in it and when I walk away from it I always look back at it in awe of its magnificence . My mate has a XJL and its poxy in comparison . Its looks are reminiscent of the old Ford Scorpio gawping goldfish features and as for those daft whoops yahoo riding lights ,!!! My mates car is full of electronic digital crap that often goes wrong , My mates car doesnt make him feel like the greatest man in his street let alone anywhere else . Its paint is flaking at an obsurdly young age and its engine is costly , very costly to maintain . I went out in my series 3 V12 last weekend to visit a stately home and instead of the visitors car park, they thought I was the owner and directed me to the front of the mansion . Thats the power and image of the series 3. for you ! The XJL is somewhat lacking in style, in road prescence and in the wow factor, just looking at the complaints of it would put me off forever . Fortunately for the discerning Jaguar driver that does want the very best, there are many series 3 Jags and Daimlers coming home from Japan , all in as new condition and absolute bargains at about £15k each .
I’m sorry to hear your Mate does not like his car enough to make him feel like the greatest man. Because my XJL makes me feel like the greatest man in the world.
Maintenance has been very reliable so far. I only changed an alternator, valve cover gasket ( big job), and the mounts that hold up the exhaust. The oil change is the easiest oil change you can do on any car and I am due for one and will be making a how to video soon!
I had my 2013 since 2015 and only changes are about $150, had to replace the water pump $1500.00, and breaks around $1100.00 tires around $900.00, and the light bulb on the righthand side blew cost me around $180.00 Over all I love mine! 5 years in. Thinking of getting a 2016 because they FINALLY have remote care start! I may wait it out a bit longer...
If you’re talking about base models then yes it is faster but for the R/T models it should be equal to them. The jaguar has very similar horsepower to them.
@@XJLuxury hy we have a jaguar xjl 2011 premium luxury butt we seem to have a problem witd the stop start engine botton its stuk and doesnt pops out again what can we doe about it? Thanks for the respons
I think there was a 1980's Honda/Toyota to have the 1st full digital dash, also my 80's MG Maestro had one, and my 90's Astra GTE. Also the new Civic had one which came out years before Jag - I think what you are trying to say is 1st Jag to have one? That being said, thanks to your reviews I am considering a low miler LWB - I live in UK and have had RR's in the past but they are so terribly unreliable, thirsty and 'targets' for abuse!!!!
Tell you what a cool feature would be if you could turn off that bloody beeping drives me insane ! I wouldn’t buy a car that did that 🤣 but that is a beautiful car I have an xf I love very much to 👍
I watched the first video and it seemed you didn't know that the speedometer will turn to red illumination in sports dynamic mode, but it turned out in the second video that you do know. Other than that, if you use the car's satellite navigation, it may appear next to the speedometer while you drive. Later models you may have dual screen mode display which your passenger can watch DVD on the go but driver view of the navigation map in uninterrupted. About the hidden keyhole as emergency back up, a 07-08 Toyota Camry has similar thing so I am not that amused. The question is, do you know where the key is? Last. The bootlid is operated by motor (or the trunk lid) and it opens upright 90 degrees every time. In an S class, you can program how much the lid opens by the control screen menu ( important to prevent from rain). The XJ can do the same except you do it manually. After you pressed the open button, while the lid is opening you just gold it at your desired angle. And it will memorise that position every time you open it. And last, take note of the emergency release handle inside the trunk lid.. In case you accidentally lock yourself up. Well, actually it's mandatory requirement in the USA against kidnapping. The XJL is one of loveliest car I know. The 3.0 turbodiesel v6 is capable of putting out 600Nm of torque but at the same time deliver between 800-1000 miles range per full tank. Have fun!!
Depends on which car you're comparing with. There are many more hidden and cool features in the same class cars like 7 series, A8 or S-Class. To be honest, material quality is not enough for a full-size luxury car. Security features, adaptive cruise control, self-parking, 360-degree camera, large screen, autonomous driving, lane-assist, self-driving, head-up display, rain-sensor panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seats, refrigerator and trunk organizer are missing... The headlight is intelligent but it's not smart enough as its competitors. Please compare the door closing noise/sound from inside the car. Terrible. So many trim parts are plastic and very weak. Yes, Jag XJ is cheaper than competitors but I prefer to pay a bit more for better quality. And, if I'm not wrong there is a timing-belt in Jag XJ series instead of a timing-chain. It's not a good idea for this car. Of course, comments are welcome. These are my opinions for F Class cars. Thanks for your efforts and time for this video. Well done,
Thanks for the comment. I do understand where you are coming from and you are not wrong except when you said the XJ has a timing belt instead of a chain which it does not.
@@Matt_3535 the s class quality isn’t much better in my opinion. I’m not a fan of JLR quality but a brand new XJ is very good. The best in class is the 7 series though, that has very premium materials but the XJ unlike the A8 and S Class does come with leather and wood throughout so I fail to see how it can be considered less luxurious from that standpoint, also the standard equipment is better than all of them. You are lucky to get 4 zone climate control and heated seats as standard. Heated steering wheel, cooled seats, massage, sunroof, TV, upgraded branded sound system? No chance. The S Class previous gen was very disappointing, it’s got the ‘name’ yet doesn’t live up to it. The car is riddled with fake leather and cheap plastics throughout.
@@Horizon301. thanks for your comments but I guess you’ve some wrong informations about S-Class. Fake leather never been used on S-Class W221 or W222, even on W220. If you’d like to compare W223 (the latest) and Jag XJS/L you’ll see that the gap is becoming bigger between those two competitors. Tbh I’m neither a fan of MB nor a fan of Audi orBMW. Just wanted to compare F-Class cars in this price segment. Of course, the leather quality is same as Bentley or Rolls Royce but prices are not same as well :) I’d be pleased to discuss hand-built cars separately later on. Please check on the car magazines or on some programs like TopGear, 5thGear or any vlogger’s video. Lexus is the most reliable car brand in the US but LS600 is not good enough to beat S-Class. That doesn’t mean MB is the best car manufacturer in the Europe. If it’s F segment, MB is still the leader. You’ll see that if you compare every details/features. All the best
@@Matt_3535 fake leather is used in Europe, the only real leather guaranteed was the seats, artico was used everywhere else I would imagine. The dashboard was only real leather if it had the cross stitching which was part of an extended leather package that cost many thousands of pounds. Also there was a lawsuit against MB after a customer in the UK got his CLS seats tested, turned out they weren’t real genuine leather either so MB have been doing some of this fake stuff for a while and didn’t use the best materials out there, Audi were using genuine leather though which was an interesting article which you can find out there. The 7 series comes standard with merino leather I believe it was all over, including the dashboard. The 7 series as mentioned in my opinion is best in terms of quality before stepping up to Bentley or RR but the XJ puts on a good show. Mercedes is cool and all but they do not have Greta materials at all and that’s noticeable on all of their cars. I wouldn’t touch one bar the S Class and even then that would be my second choice once the new 7 series is out. The XJ is competing with cars that came out many years later hence the gap is big and it’s been discontinued for a few years now anyway. The car competes on the used car market and which very much undercuts the others on price. Very affordable and as I mentioned, it’s got everything you could need. The same stuff on the S Class wouod cost around 20k extra in options, that’s how poorly equipped the S Class as standard is. We were going to get one in 2016 and it was dissapointing so we looked at the Q7 instead, the XJ was cool but the rear styling is a bit hit and miss. Luckily though thr 7 series started coming into dealerships so that was what we got. It was a great vehicle and all bmws since have got the very high level quality interiors and technology seen on the G11. As for Lexus, they aren’t popular here at all and I wouldn’t even consider them, as you might be able to tell, the UK market doesn’t place reliability that high hence Lexus and Toyota aren’t popular like in the US where cars are often old and high milage. I think the LS costs 20k more than all of the Germans flagship vehicles if I’m not mistaken. They are ripping people off severely for a highly inferior vehicle.

Well said big brother, I think I'll get 1.
Oh no...I love mine....I hope they dont sell it
Love my XJL not one single issue, best car I’ve ever owned.
Hello I have a question if that key cover cap is missing because someone didn't secure it back on properly what's the best place to find that part without going through the dealer?
I would say eBay but if you’re referring to the car locking and unlocking key check out my other video where I replace the whole key.
The sponsor od this video is the open door sound provider.
Sorry
Could I know what was that scrol inside that glass container hanging from by thread from back mirror?
Of-course if it's not a personal thing you don't want to share..
That a was gift given by my friend when I got the car. I believe it is a religious piece.
The seat botom extender @ 10:35 look more comfort, especially for knees, than thigh extender... Cool
Welldone Jaguar..
You are right and thanks!
Would you recommend this car for single men or is this more of a family vehicle?
I am not single but I also don’t have a family and I own this car. I love big sedans so I would get this even if I didn’t have a girlfriend or a family. I would even drive a maybach 62 by myself.
I’m sorry I don’t understand what you mean by jeep?
Not sure if this works on this XJ, but on my 2015 XFR if you push the headlight button on the key fob twice the headlights and the reverse lights come on.
Wow I need to try that and let you know!
I really enjoyed this video! thanks for the details
You’re welcome!
I like the feature about the key hole 👍
Great video, but curious, is the baseball bat standard Jag equipment, or optional ;)
Standard lol
Does the baseball bat come standard on all models?
Only on the ones delivered to the East Coast.
Awesome video! Subscribed. I have a 2011 XJL and love it...so far. :D
Welcome to the club :)
Im in this bitch 2!!! 👀
Good explain bro but How to use headlamp washer
It’s automatic when you use the windshield washer. Every like 3rd time you use the washer it will do the headlights too
🔴 I just noticed that bat when you walked back from demonstrating how the trunk closes. I'm curious, What's that for? 😆
Haha I am in the bad parts of the city a lot for work and you have no idea how many times I’ve had to reach for that
@@XJLuxury 🔴 Ok, got it.
Well be careful man, go to the nice areas and do your videos. Look forward to the next .✌🏾
Thank you for this video very informative and thorough I'm actually between getting the xjl or the A8L and it's a ruff decision! What would you think?
You probably know what my answer is going to be lol. I am not a fan of Audi’s in general but I do like the A8L, however, reliability is a major issue with Audi’s. I would still go with the jaguar. It’s more stunning and has been very reliable to me.
@@XJLuxury yes I have an A8L now and I love it but had it's fair share of issues but this jaguar looks so sleek! how does it drive in snow being RWD?
The coolest luxury import
I’m really leaning on getting one of these but i was scared of the maintenance it’d might need so i bought a Cadillac XTS love it but i really want this car
Can you tell me how to turn on light on central console clock?
It’s automatic when your headlights come on. If it doesn’t come on then it’s broken I’m sorry.
@@XJLuxury Thanks
Btw, the rear tables extend towards you after you open them giving that more space 😉
Really?! I never knew that! I am going to try it out tomorrow!
XJLuxury clearly you don’t have a 9 year old... 😂

🔴 Hello, I'm a #NewSubcriber to your channel. I'm curious to know if you will do a review of how much you spend in maintenance cost, the reliability of this car and major flaws if any.
Thank you for the subscription. Yes that video is next on my list. I will make it soon!
Is the AWD or RWD I live in Boston and scared to get RWD butvi found a goood deal
Gosh it’s so beautiful
Do you notice a knocking sound? I hear it in yours which sounds exactly like mine... I have no engine lights on or no indication that anything is wrong... But sometimes i wonder if thats the design or is something wrong...🤔
That knocking sound is how the high pressure fuel injectors sound. This is normal.
I thought it was in the design
whatsup bro, can you do a video on the ground clearance and recommendations? awesome video
Thanks I will definitely look into that for you
The tray tables slide out to give you more room after you pull them down
I noticed that after the video!
What is that black glass with a chrome bezel between the sunroofs interior?
I am not sure what you are referring to. Send me the time in the video that you see what you’re asking about
Bewtiful mate
Thanks!
Can you explain why the service menu is not working
The engine needs to be off and in the ignition mode.
Thinking about getting one how is the reliability and would you recommend getting a 2011?
I am going to make a video on this soon. The 2011 is a good year. It has been very reliable for me. Watch out for my video coming soon about the reliability.
Did you know when tables are down you can pull them out to make them deeper, they also incorporate a pen holder.
Yes someone told me about that too!
Please do a video at night so we can see the interior lighting. That would be amazing.
I have a video coming up soon with an hour long nighttime drive from Manhattan to Long Island.
@@XJLuxury I really appreciate it
I'm sold..Where can I a XJL today?

Funny he didn't know the tray tables in the back actually pull out about 2..3 inches. I only know because I have the exact same car.
Not much room but definitely noticeable.
I learned that after I posted this video and somebody else commented about it
I have a 2011 XJL. I got my oil changed at a local tire lube place but they didn’t know how to reset the service again. Do you know how to rest it
Unfortunately you need a mechanic with a advanced scan tool to reset it. Go to jaguar and ask if they can do it
XJLuxury ok Thanks
Good review, my first XJL back in 2011 was a supersport in white! Gorgeous car, good video!
Very cool and thank you! I wish mine was the supersport
Can you change the speedometer to show 20-- -40--60
Unfortunately no you can’t and that is another downside that I forgot to mention
You can only in kms display
I have 05 xjl and i have Teloscopic steering wheel motorized in out up and down
Can I borrow it
XJ is amazing.
What you going with a baseball bat mahn ?
People are crazy out here!
Is it an optional extra in the XJ because I didn’t get one in my XF 😂
Does this have a heated steering wheel?
Yes
U recomended this model?
How do you use the remote start ?
My vehicle does not have remote start maybe the later models do.
The tray tables extend out a few inches.
Thanks for the heads up but another UA-camr told me about that and I tried it and it worked!
Another cool feature is the Jaguar baseball bat beside the drivers seat.
I'm getting one so thanks ... Really
You’re welcome!
It's nice car but need to be updated
..lastly it was updated in 2014
.soon jag must introduce a 2020 model..

How do you save gas
What's the noise from the car? Timing? Or cam?
What time in the video do you hear the noise ?
XJLuxury around 11 seconds to 25 seconds, maybe from underneath the car
That is how the car naturally sounds. It has a high pressure fuel system and that is the cause of that sound.
XJLuxury mine 5.0na has the same noise, when the car are warm, but i saw jaguar forums, people says this is an issue, but not found why.
Thinking about getting one, how is the maintenance and oil change?
Maintenance has been very reliable so far. I only changed an alternator, valve cover gasket ( big job), and the mounts that hold up the exhaust. The oil change is the easiest oil change you can do on any car and I am due for one and will be making a how to video soon!
@@XJLuxury I'm no mechanic lol. Was wondering if it's hitting your pockets like that
I had my 2013 since 2015 and only changes are about $150, had to replace the water pump $1500.00, and breaks around $1100.00 tires around $900.00, and the light bulb on the righthand side blew cost me around $180.00 Over all I love mine! 5 years in. @@canadiankrispybacon Yes, I have a 2011. Repairs are costly.
Do you think this car is faster than the Charger or Challenger RT
Congratulations on your choice to get an XJ! Mine has been very reliable I’m going to make a video on reliability soon. Keep an eye out for it
@@XJLuxury have u Don video on the xj reliability?
I had a 2011 xfr than got a 2013 xjl honestly it feels faster than the xfr.... the suede roof on both cars had to be fixed

Every car does it just not for that long because I was too focused on making the video lol
Quick fact: Did you know the letter XJ on the trunk, the ‘J’ is designed to look like the Jaguars claw.
Wow I did not know that! Did you know XJ stand for experimental jaguar?
@@XJLuxury Nope, I did not know that either. Well, we’ve certainly learnt something from each other today 😂
That we did lol
And the rear lights are the same Jaguars claws
You can get an all leather headliner in the super sport
Yes you do and it’s super luxurious!
Have fun!!
Interesting, I am not sure why it seems like that in the video but I knew about that way before I made both videos. Nice observation though,.

Nice vid thanks!
I loved this car mine is an army green, but now i need a new engine :(
Why?
@@XJLuxury Sorry, that's my fault :(
@@Matt_3535 the s class quality isn’t much better in my opinion.
Why do you have a baseball bat next to the drivers seat?
To play baseball with.
Where i'm from UK car mechanics are very little to non existent, would u suggest having this car somewhere like here
Unfortunately unless you can do most maintenance yourself then no.
