      @@RaukoDaz3D Using the ceiling for ambient lighting helped with the project I was working on. I had a character in a glass cylinder. I was trying to use a torus for the top and combine it with a spot light. That wasn't going well. Using a solid lid and converting it into a light emitter worked perfectly and gave me much better control on intensity. I haven't tried the other tips yet as I was anxious to get back to my project but I will. Thanks again!!

    The rule of thirds is also about making an image look more natural. I haven't really used it, but I do understand the theory behind it. I usually end up trying to fill in the blank area. That is just me.

    The shape of the light is for reflection. It is what is reflected by reflective surfaces. A rectangle will reflect a rectangle shape. The circle will reflect a circle. So,if you have glasses or something like that it would reflect the light's shape.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D 18 днів тому

      That would be Classic Barbarian Armor over on the Daz store As for HDRI scaling - you're very limited to what you can do with them on that score .. In your Render tab .. With "Dome Only" or "Dome and Scene" selected in the Environment Mode .. If you change DOME MODE to "Finite Sphere" and then play around with "Dome Scale Multiplier" and "Dome Radius" that will appear, then you might get some success - but I wouldn't hold my breath .. as I say, you're very limited in what you can do.

    Question. If you have a moon and you want it emmisive red but vague (vampire mood). Lessening the emissive is not really the effect i would like to see. What can i do more? Thank you.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D 22 дні тому

      Let me see if we're thinking the same .. You're wanting a red moon? With an emissive light lighting the scene (red?) .. but - when using an emissive at high enough value to light the scene washes the details of the moon which you want to keep and show in your image. If so .. and I might be answering a question you're not asking here .. Hehe .. then how does this sound .. There's no real way of doing it in one shot .. You'll have to render your image with the moon at high enough emission to light the scene .. but then spot render (ua-cam.com/video/L1OgH-yS2VM/v-deo.html) the moon only with the emissive value turned down to a level where you keep the details of the moon .. and then combine the two images in a paint package .. Hopefully, that's what you're wanting .. but if not - let me know a few more details and I'll try again!

    • @PaithanNL
      @PaithanNL 22 дні тому

      @@RaukoDaz3D Thank you for thinking with me! As I have it now: 1 moon real with red material (vampiric render). 2nd moon copy, dark red emissive placed behind the real moon 1. Then a 3rth copy moon emissive bright red behind the second moon. So total 3 moons. This already gives a cool emission effect for the first real moon. But I miss the vague / hazy effect for the emission in my render. - Is there a button by emission for the hazy effect? - other ideas? Prefer for this render no post work in PS. Thank you. 🌹

    i got a question, the licensing stuff confuses me on the website. if i make a character from scratch and use it in a game i plan to sell on steam will that give me any legal problems with daz3d? I understand that using 2d images for a visual novel is fine but not so sure about 3d games. was wondering if you knew and i would love some advice

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D Місяць тому

      Sure. As you say - any image that you create is fine. It's yours. You own the rights etc .. Can do what you want with it. Post it anywhere or use it in something like Ren'Py .. However, use any actual asset in a game (not a flat image) .. like with Unreal or Unity .. you'd need an interactive license .. FOR EACH ASSET YOU USE .. So, model, hair, clothing etc The reason for this is because to use a character model in a game with Unreal or Unity - you'd need to distribute the models geometry with the game. You'd need to include the actual 3d model .. It's known as an "interactive license" because a player needs to interact with the model in real time to make it move, jump, punch, kick and die etc .. And for that - you need to distribute the model and it's geometry so it can be manipulated and interacted with within the game .. hence why you need a license. That clear things up?

    When I add a light with the basic settings the light is extremely dim. I normally have to add at least two 0s to the intensity to get any effect. But you're getting a strong rim light with the basic 1500 intensity. Have you changed anything else?

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D Місяць тому

      Not really .. I've just had a look and noticed the F/Stop on tone mapping had been lowered to 7 .. but that wouldn't make a huge difference .. I think it was just that the spot light was close to the models head (an arms length in real terms!) And with the Rim light being a rim light - it doesn't need to be too bright as it was mainly lighting her hair so even just a small bit of light would have the trans and gloss of the hair "reflect" enough to light it up That's my guess anyway! 😀 But, no, nothing beyond that!

    How do you clean the time line and at the same time keeping the shape of the cloth item?

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D Місяць тому

      Within Daz - clearing the timeline will clear the simulation data. In this example - I'd then render the image out from Frame 30 leaving the timeline, and the dforce simulation, in place. There are more advanced techniques that could work - but I’ve not tried them with a dForce sim such as exporting the clothing item as a OBJ file with the simulated data baked in and then importing the OBJ back into Daz and fit the clothing manually to your model. Alternatively, it might be possible to create a Morph Slider with the dforce data baked in .. Sadly, going into depth with these things here will end up me writing a book! And, having not done it with a dforce sim before, I can’t guarantee it will work anyway. Is there any reason why you need to delete the timeline? Unless it’s absolutely necessary it will be a lot quicker and simpler to just render from the final frame ..

    • @FKoc-fl9mj
      @FKoc-fl9mj Місяць тому

       @RaukoDaz3D Wow thank you so much for this quick reply. I just wanted to know if there is a way to make it like a morph. DaZ is loading every time the time line with in to the scene and that is slowing things down. As I plan to work with some of the characters again and again It will be a pain to work like that. So I am just to be able to make things a lil bit easier by saving some of the morphs or Settings I need to use beforehand.

      This is one of those environments I have in my library and never used .. God Bless sales where I can pick something up for pennies .. and never use .. 😀 I've just had a look at it - there's 3 lights in there .. "Light Source" .. "Light Source 2" and "Light" .. each of them are Props ... "Light Source" and "Light Source 2" are plain to see if you expand "Sunlit Breakfast Nook - Sunlight" in the Scene tab .. Whereas "Light" is in under "Nook" - expand it out and you'll see "Light" .. The only other possible light will come from a HDRI if your "Environment Node" is set to "Dome Only" or "Dome and Scene" or your Camera Headlamp on on .. Followed your links and purchased the models then followed your instructions to create the scene, however, I positioned and angled the spotlight close to the height of the ceiling leds so the light source is coming down from above her and not from the side as it is in yours which to me created a more convincing shadow effect on her. Also repositioned the field of view as I prefer more background details as it seemed a little too blurry when trying to match your settings. Great video.

    We need moar videos like these. I still struggle with getting my images to have the same sort of lighting that produces the same skin tones (with pale/fair skin) that people do for promo videos for figures/skin materiels - not without really, really modifying the materials surface settings for skin and/or blowing the lighting way high. And I've been doing DAZ pics for years now and every time I would ask in chats they would say something along the lines of standard settings of this or that HDRI lighting set and not having messed with the surface settings or skin matieriels and I'm like "well is it my system?" but I haven't had the same computer the whole way through either. Videos about getting gud skin details would be pro too.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D Місяць тому

      It won't be as simple as you'll have to have a window for the light from the HDRI to come through - which will limit how much and the quality of the light that lights the model. It can be done - I'll always use a HDRI to light indoor scenes - but it's not as simple as plugging a HDRI in and hoping to get great results.

    One thing I recently discovered in lighting - bearing in mind I hate throwing in any light that doesn't make sense - is that "well actually" you can. I had a very dark scene where I needed more light on one side of a figure's face, and there was no logical reason for a light to come from that direction. But I did it anyway with a really tight spotlight (coloured kinda purple) and ... it worked. Then I got excited, and used a yellow/gold spotlight to highlight an object in an otherwise brightly lit room - and that worked too. (Maybe I'm developing an actual style after seven years...) Anyway, might be an interesting thing to cover...

      It's one of my gripes in Daz also. Although, to be fair - made-for-dforce clothing goes along at a semi-decent speed. It's the older stuff that goes real slow. But there's a lot of geometry in this type of hair with lots of collisions - hence the slowness! Ah well - can't have everything!

    At 6:09 you say "lets just shut that down again for a moment" what was it you shut down? How did you get the HDRI image into your viewport? OK sorted from one of your other video's, phew, there's a lot to remember.

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D Місяць тому

      At 6:09 I just collapsed the Render Settings panel tab so it wasn't obscuring the page. If you watch me click the tab .. it then almost vanishes completely - but you can still see the tabs "Content Library", "Simulation Settings" and "Render Settings" up against the left side of the screen .. clicking on 1 of the tabs again would have the panel pop back out .. The HDRI appeared in the viewport because of two things .. firstly, I was in NVIDIA Iray Preview and, secondly, in the Render Settings (the tab I closed down) - there's a Draw Dome option (below Environment Mode). If this is set then the dome / HDRI will render out when I a) Preview the scene or b) Render the scene .. You can see me switching to NVIDIA Iray preview at 6:10 Keep any more questions coming!

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D Місяць тому

      Thanks for watching. Yeah, when you load up a scene and there's just cameras then you'll need to add your own lights - although - with some scenes they might come with not-so-obvious lights already .. like emissives. They won't show in the scene tab - they'll just be in-scene already and will only show when you go with a preview shot or a full render. When there are lights in scene .. point or spot lights .. then they should just work straight out of the box. If not - check on your Render tab for "Environment Mode" and make sure it's set to "Dome and Scene" or "Scene Only" .. Point and Spot lights will only show in one of those two modes. If you have any more questions - just drop them here and I'll do my best to answer!
