    Good explanation for the vague side of DAZ.

    thank you so much for this, just what i was looking for. first i thought that i have to install the greyed assets in smart content again when i already installed it using DIM. it was in content library all along.

    Thanks for this, wasn't aware of the products tab on my account page, good to know. Quick question though, in regard to Smart Content, is there a way of getting manually added content to show up there?

      Glad to help .. as for Smart Content .. As you can see from my screen setups - I don't normally use Smart Content .. and one reason for that is for the reason you ask.
      I tend to install to multiple directories when I install (my normal and a backup) and I usually therefore manually install most of the time. So to put it bluntly : I don't know.
      I'm old school with Daz and have always used the Content Library and not had the real urge to look into the problem. I'll have a poke around and see what I can find out though!

      @@RaukoDaz3D Oh no don't worry too much, I'm using a combination of both, and it's working okay so far, I just found the tick box in smart content 'filter by context' useful to see what does and doesn't work with an asset, but I'm learning there are ways round this too to make incompatible assets work with which other so it's all good. Thanks anyway.

    I got daz strictly for sites like renerotica etc. If that's the case? Do I even need to go back to the daz3d site? And would i even need to install dim? Since those sites will be manual install? Thx

      Technically, you'd probably still need the Daz store at some point if just for Daz software updates .. unless you can source future updates from elsewhere (I'm not sure from where though) .. You can download them from the Store itself and install manually or, when available, they'll appear in DIM.

      @@RaukoDaz3D If I had rendered environments could i start the scene with one. Just add characters to it? Would that speed things up? Thx

    Only DAZ content can be installed through DIM right? Renderosity and such only manual install?

    • @RaukoDaz3D
      @RaukoDaz3D  Рік тому

      Yeah, only Daz stuff .. it pulls the assets to install from your Product Page at Daz

      I think there is a way to use DIM to install (not download) some assets from elsewhere, But given the unfortunate lack of consistency in product packaging, it's best to install other assets manually. I hope Rauko agrees, and if he doesn't he can feel free to delete my comment.

      Yeah, just tested an idea .. you CAN drop your zip files into the "Package Archive" directory (found in DIM at the Settings > Download tab) .. and then they'll be seen in the "Ready To Install" tab on a reload .. but I think if you're downloading them manually - it takes only an extra couple of seconds just to unzip them straight into your content directory ..
      So it can be done - but i'm not sure how much time saving it will give .. it's the Downloading that takes the time and if you're still having to download manually .. I don't think you'll be saving much
