You have to put a lot of pepper in the Matzoh Ball Soup... Loved you getting it all wrong (sort of) with Santana and just kept going - I hate when VC channels belabor their videos with perfection. I was NOT expecting Elvis Costello to sound good!

The psych/garage comps looked super cool. Pappo's Blues - was a little VC staple for a bit; even I have the first album. I knew that about the White Album, but its my favorite Beatles album, so I know lots about it - like Eric Clapton wasn't actually on it, but George was such a sweet friend he lied and said he was... Eric was so thankful, he helped take George's wife off his hands.

I have a very hard time remembering what album I bought in what year. The way my channel is going though, my pick for best find would probably be a record of some guy who recorded an album of zither music in his garage in Timiskaming. Very sad, really.

Hey Steve. Great video! Love that Dead Kennedys album, and that Tears For Fears! City to City, so good. Love Sonic Youth, own most of their catalogue, saw them live and they were amazing. The Saints rule! 😎 I picked up that Box Set, it’s killer! Cheers

Bobby I keep hearing how good that Saints box set is, I’m just trying to figure out where it will go lol. Amazing you got almost all of the Sonic Youth. I use to on CD. Now I don’t have much past Dirty. I did find some nice MoFis this year. I pass on a lot of them but these were albums that I thought would sound special

Great finds. What is a good Zamrock lp to get started? Need to check out the Gary Numan, I don't have anything after the first four which I love. The Saints has been near the top of my want list for a while.

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147

3 good recommendations for Zamrock that can a repress can be easily found Rickki Ililonga-Zambia Witch - Lazy Bones Ngozi Family- Day of Judgement RSD last fall also had a Paul Ngozi album that was quite good. Gary Numan fell between the cracks after his first 4 albums. Most of those later albums go for a lot of money. He almost quit music. Some of his newer albums are pretty good. The Saints, highly recommended if you have an interest in early punk, one of the best albums.

You did get my hopes up with your last reply about the possibilities of finding Dead Kennedys for $3.99, so I'm still looking! And if I can find that for that price, I'll have faith I can find anything (like Sonic Youth, Mother Love Bone and maybe even Bad Brains at 5 for $1. Is that pushing it a bit? I am so happy to see that someone considers Sowing the Seeds of Love so great and I agree, I think it's an amazing album. Yes, what a very successful 2024, some great pickups. Two years ago, I made a resolution that I would find and pick up more Grateful Dead, and it just happened all that year without me even having to try very hard. That was when I found the copy of Europe '72 for a quarter. So, this year, my resolution is going to be More Punk! Now I'm just going to sit back and watch it happen!

Hello Steve; The 2025 Soul & Funk vinyl tag, the funky Steve edition. Starting with Betty ( Ms Miles ) Davis, Marvin gettin' that sexual feelin' Sam & the Stirrers, Johnnie Taylor ( who's makin' love to the old lady ) Dyke looks like he lost his Blazer, Skunk Juicin' with the Pazants, Eddie the Floyd Choppin' on Wood. Some great soul/ funkin' sounds. JB feeling the groove with some Cold Sweat. Take care, Tina & Pat!~

Good call on MC Hammer, he rode James sample all the way to the top for a long time. I am not familiar with Richard Fields, I need to check them out. This was a fun tag, my kind of music

I'm into Soul and R&B. The Funk I never thought much of. Sure they had the odd good tune but all in all I wasn't a fan Steve...... In Britain they have a genre they call Northern Soul and some of those records are worth quite a bit of money. I've a lot of 45s from that era.... I don't have Watermelon Man by Hancock I got it by Buddy Guy and Albert King.... For me the last great black music tune was by The Time, "Jungle Love". That tune ought to be in the rock and roll hall of fame. It's a MONSTER.... Back in the R&B days I tore the crotch out of all kinds of dress pants doing the splitz it wasn't funny. I remember my Mum sewing them up one time talking on the phone to a girlfriend and laughing at me spitting my pants all the time. Ahh the Spinners, Bobby Smith their lead singer made that band. And last but not least James Brown. I've some history with that Man. LOL..... Later Gator.....

This was a fun tag as I love soul and funk music Bobby. Always splitting your pants? What kind of dance moves were you doing? Too many splits? Pretty funny. The Time Jungle Love was great. It took me awhile to find a copy of it but I was glad I did. Music from my early 20s, cool stuff. You’re right, Northern Soul is highly collectible but I never really got into it.

Betty Davis, excellent choice for Saturday night! Wooohooo Steve the preacher, can I get an Amen? A car chase at 10 mph....who was chasing him, a turtle. Ice Cream Castle is a great album, one that I thought would be easy to find, but I haven't found one yet. Now, Skunk Juice. You know that with an album name like that, it's gonna be dirty funk. I am just like you when talking about those soulful harmonic bands, I hated them growing up, I love them now. And you could obviously be one of The Delfonics, in fact, I bet you were in a previous life. Great response!

Yeah, I was having some fun. The whole preacher thing just popped out of my mouth, no plan for that haha. Isn’t it funny how when we get older certain albums we hated now sound great due to memories. Those soul groups were all over AM radio, just too slow. I had collected most of the albums in the 90s and 00s but after the flood I just got Greatest Hits, that all I needed

Low Rider is a terrific song that I have always loved. I considered doing this, but I might be tagged-out!

I also love Low Rider. It’s one of those songs you just crank up when it comes on, roll down the window and then look cool

I need Knock On Wood by Eddie Floyd. I’m not going anywhere near Bette Davis.

I have a mono and stereo version of Knock on Wood and friend in Midland gave me. This guy has the most incredible collection of records, mostly all first press From punk to rock to jazz, amazing collection of records I tried to get permission to film it but he said no. Bette Davis, that woman was truly wild!

Hey Steve. Great response, I’m really struggling with this year’s tag, or is it next year’s tag? I take it you’re a fan of Zam rock? I don’t have any Partridge Family. I am going to attempt a response soon though, even if I struggle with some of the questions. Beatles or Stones? Sheesh. Cheers.
