I was surprised by how good you are at singing harmonies. 🙃I love that Time album; they were stylish too.Perfect for a Sunday morning. Sam Cook was a really talented guy. He could sing anything and make it sound great. And you can't have a tag without James Brown! I'm going to jump on this one.
lol Mark, hoping to still get my singing career off the ground. Using my YT channel as my platform to launch it. I only have to J Brown albums Mark. I use to have quite a few but it’s hard to find them in decent shape.
I Want You has got to be one of the sexiest songs ever. I love how his voice just floats on that song. The Soul Searchers album is good. I haven't picked that one up yet. The Delfonics are great! Great tag!
Thanks for watching Carlos. I Want You was my first Gaye album, I didn’t sent in my Columbia Music card. When it came in I was trying to figure out what it was with that art work. Not normal stuff for small town NE. I put that on and was blown away. It is still my favorite album by him.
Andy find that inner funk and soul in you, it’s there, you have repressed it for too long. 2025 is about funking for fun! Release your funk and soul Andy!
Betty Davis, excellent choice for Saturday night! Wooohooo Steve the preacher, can I get an Amen? A car chase at 10 mph....who was chasing him, a turtle. Ice Cream Castle is a great album, one that I thought would be easy to find, but I haven't found one yet. Now, Skunk Juice. You know that with an album name like that, it's gonna be dirty funk. I am just like you when talking about those soulful harmonic bands, I hated them growing up, I love them now. And you could obviously be one of The Delfonics, in fact, I bet you were in a previous life. Great response!
Yeah, I was having some fun. The whole preacher thing just popped out of my mouth, no plan for that haha. Isn’t it funny how when we get older certain albums we hated now sound great due to memories. Those soul groups were all over AM radio, just too slow. I had collected most of the albums in the 90s and 00s but after the flood I just got Greatest Hits, that all I needed
Very entertaining video, Steve.... Sunday morning album..Aretha Franklin../I Never Loved A Man the Way I loved you Album that has a horn section.. Ray Charles at Newport Song that samples another song...MC Hammer samples Rick James "Superfreak" Modern soul record....Any album by Richard "Dimples" Fields
Good call on MC Hammer, he rode James sample all the way to the top for a long time. I am not familiar with Richard Fields, I need to check them out. This was a fun tag, my kind of music
Yeah Greg, that was pretty funny. Dirty funk which is always fun! I had Cheechnand Chong Wedding album, there was some song on there I liked but I never understood their humor, it was so drug related that went right over my head lol
Hello Steve; The 2025 Soul & Funk vinyl tag, the funky Steve edition. Starting with Betty ( Ms Miles ) Davis, Marvin gettin' that sexual feelin' Sam & the Stirrers, Johnnie Taylor ( who's makin' love to the old lady ) Dyke looks like he lost his Blazer, Skunk Juicin' with the Pazants, Eddie the Floyd Choppin' on Wood. Some great soul/ funkin' sounds. JB feeling the groove with some Cold Sweat. Take care, Tina & Pat!~
Nice selections! I have a small amount of Soul and Funk records. I have a good amount of Ohio Players. But overall, soul & funk records aren’t played that much. Definitely some great records though!
Michael, I love soul and funk but I bought very little this year. I use to have a very large collection of the classics but now I settle for a lot of greatest hits albums from various artists.
I'm into Soul and R&B. The Funk I never thought much of. Sure they had the odd good tune but all in all I wasn't a fan Steve...... In Britain they have a genre they call Northern Soul and some of those records are worth quite a bit of money. I've a lot of 45s from that era.... I don't have Watermelon Man by Hancock I got it by Buddy Guy and Albert King.... For me the last great black music tune was by The Time, "Jungle Love". That tune ought to be in the rock and roll hall of fame. It's a MONSTER.... Back in the R&B days I tore the crotch out of all kinds of dress pants doing the splitz it wasn't funny. I remember my Mum sewing them up one time talking on the phone to a girlfriend and laughing at me spitting my pants all the time. Ahh the Spinners, Bobby Smith their lead singer made that band. And last but not least James Brown. I've some history with that Man. LOL..... Later Gator.....
This was a fun tag as I love soul and funk music Bobby. Always splitting your pants? What kind of dance moves were you doing? Too many splits? Pretty funny. The Time Jungle Love was great. It took me awhile to find a copy of it but I was glad I did. Music from my early 20s, cool stuff. You’re right, Northern Soul is highly collectible but I never really got into it.
6 inch pianist sounds about average. I've built my soul collection up to about 5 ft. after selling all my soul and reggae a few years back. The good stuff!!
I think I have about 5 feet also, it use to be much larger also. I am a big fan of funk but the last few years I have not found a new funk band that really excites me
I have a mono and stereo version of Knock on Wood and friend in Midland gave me. This guy has the most incredible collection of records, mostly all first press From punk to rock to jazz, amazing collection of records I tried to get permission to film it but he said no. Bette Davis, that woman was truly wild!
Love the video, Steve, and love your 'version' of Low Rider, and what a great War album! Cheers! 🙏
lol, car race with low rider cars, it needs to be done IMHO!
Thanks for making these videos
Thank you for always watching, I am most appreciative of that

@ That’s a cool memory. Those memories make music that much more special.
Steve, killer soul tag. Cool seeing you pull out the skunk juice. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
Skunk Juice was great and it allowed me to show something no one else had showed Steve. Great VCLT
Low Rider is a terrific song that I have always loved. I considered doing this, but I might be tagged-out!
I also love Low Rider. It’s one of those songs you just crank up when it comes on, roll down the window and then look cool
I like how you went fire & brimstone for the Sunday album. Some great records to look into.
Yeah, that was totally unplanned, just seemed appropriate lol
Nice mix, Steve, and impressions! I am far too devoid of funk and soul to give this one a go.
Andy find that inner funk and soul in you, it’s there, you have repressed it for too long. 2025 is about funking for fun! Release your funk and soul Andy!
Haha. Funkadelic for every question!
Hey Steve. Great video! Betty Davis and Marvin are a killer Saturday night. James Brown! Dropping my take on this tag tomorrow. Cheers
I am a big fan of Betty Davis, that was nasty funk, love her stuff This was a fun tag Bobby
@ I love Betty too. It was a fun tag. That was my last for the season. Cheers

Skunk juice great name for an album 😊. Low Rider love that song, memories of Cheech and Chong. Well done 👍.

lol, looks like Dyke lost his Blazer , that’s funny, well done. I bought very little Soul and Funk last year, maybe this will be a funky year for me

Hello. Bette David Ive heard but not Pazant brothers, so I shall try them.
What is skunk juice?
Hasse, I have no idea what Skunk Juice is! Plazant Brothers are not really known but it’s very cool funk.

I need Knock On Wood by Eddie Floyd. I’m not going anywhere near Bette Davis.
I have a mono and stereo version of Knock on Wood and friend in Midland gave me. Try to say “Soul and funk tag” three times fast.
Lmao that is great! I wish I had thought of that! Well done Danny
