FORD F250 6.4L PARTIAL BODY LIFT
This is my procedure for a partial body lift for those of us with the need to work on the 6.4L who don't have the ability to completely lift the cab. Any work on the turbos, HP injector pump or even if an engine removal is necessary is made infinitely easier with at least a partial lift of the cab. Use this procedure completely at your own risk! It goes without say that you take as many precautions as you can when attempting this...and then take some MORE.

Just found your video. Where are your located?
I can replace my 1997 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 valve cover gasket in about 15 minutes, lol. I need to replace a Sport Trac valve cover gasket soon, dreading it.
Whoa you based off Harlingen? I'm in Brownsville lol
Great vid! Wanted to ask if a din kit is necessary?
Not on this model. the factory bracket fits a double DIN stereo perfectly. I bought the pioneer-Nissan harness (but did not need it) and the steering wheel control interface which also had the pioneer wiring connections.
Why the car doesnt go past 60mph although you keep pressing the gas pedal to achieve higher speed ?
I have no idea based on what you've written. it could be many, many things. If you're at a point where you can't figure it out, i recommend you take it to a reputable mechanic.
All good my man. Great video. Thanks for all that you and the rest of you do.
Man great videos! I just had a partial cab lift done on my 6.7 and now the ac is acting up. Cycling to much and the refrigerant is very loud in the lines now and sometimes whistles internally in the lines. Very strange. I feel like the dealership damaged my lines bt stretching them they said they didn’t have to vacuum down ac system that it had enough slack. What are your thoughts on what they coulda damaged? It’s a 2016. Your personality is great. We would get along well in the shop. Keep up the good work friend. I was having my upper oil pan changed from a 2016 with the silicone to a 2011 with the o ring style pan gasket. My pan oil leaks have been chronic so I was happy to find a 2011 pan. But the partial body lift definitely hurt my ac somehow.
If the dealer refuses to fix it I DEFINITELY would never use them again and tell all my friends the same. I'm surprised the dealer would do a partial lift seeing as removing the master cyl, disconnecting the AC system and ground strap is basically all that's left to lift the cab. Regardless, if it's cycling "too much" it's usually an indication of low refrigerant, but HOOK UP GAUGES and see. they're like $59 at harbor freight. Another thing would be to get a black light or a "sniffer" and check for refrigerant leaks. I would do SOMETHING before it gets worse.
My Nissan dualis didn't change to another gear and I got code p1777 and p0845 and p0740
I had that same problem on my car,i just check car and show number p1778 step motor function.
Muchas gracias por tu video Pude resolver Mi problema ningun mecanico daba con el problema 💪
Yes when the cavitation eats through the front plate and gets in to the oil it will certainly leave a mess. After my problem I flushed the engine crankcase 4 times to be sure that there were no coolant in with the oil. I was lucky. Very lucky. 50K miles later still OK. This is the time you replace with Ford diesel coolant with the cavitation additive. And change your coolant often
Thank you for the help Frank . We need more of you. Working on a 2010 Altima Coupe 3.5l with a P1778.
Great learning video. Awesome job
Hello good afternoon how are you doing. The display panel on top of some important information I would like to keep like the miles per gallon. Is there any way I could incorporate that to my new touch screen radio?
unfortunately no. the trip screen is tied to the ECM on the CAN through the "audio/navigation module"....or radio head unit.
@@frankdaiii6403 thank you. I think I'm going to bring it to a professional
Hi Frank, thank you for the video, I replaced the step motor following all the steps (I did noticed that the dark rod on the fwd side near the 14mm bolt was all the way in on my and in your video it is halfway out). After assembling everything when I shift the car to Drive or reverse, it just stays as if it was in park. Any ideas of what I might have dine wrong. Thank you and please keep making great videos.
I would check to be sure you reassembled 1. the shift lever in the correct position. 2 all of your electrical connections are secured.
Di you have to put that expensive Nissan Trans oil ? Or u can use another brand or that redone for imports ???
You can use any CVT transmission fluid, as long as it says, "CVT".
Good video , I’m a diesel tech I know exactly how hard it is to find this problems thanks sharing
great video one thing no way to get that bolt out from the bottom. I tryed for several hours. Just no way do do it and i had every tool possible to do the job.
If the Nissan rogue can go up to 180 mph, but when you drive long journey it starts going into limp mode at 80 or 100mph and doesnt go more than that, and start hearing whinning noise from the transmission, and eventually going to limp mode at 20mph or 40mph and stalls, but when you switched off and park for about 30 minutes. When you switch on and driving it, the car will accelerate very well, going to higher speeds as if there were no any problem. The scan code is P0741, Torque converter clutch solenoid malfunction. How to solve this problem?
Did you have to have the transmission reprogrammed?
If you just replace the stepper motor, no.
Buenos videos los habia de hacer en español solo sugerencia
Excellent video!!
Is it easy to do
Sorry, I misread your post. I would NOT say it is easy to do, but it depends on your experience whether any work on a 6.4L is easy or "hard." It's definitely labor intensive.
Does the steeper motor when goes bad cause the whinning noise from the CVt transmission ?
I don't think so. Make sure you have the proper fluid level , but more importantly make sure it's CVT FLUID.
Could you please share the factory wiring diagram
Hi! Frank. I asked for help last week because I was working in my stepper motor and I couldn’t figured out how to put everything back, so you suggested me to send some pictures to your email but eventually I figured it out. However, I have another issue, I installed the stepper motor and put everything back, the car seems that is running fine but only forward , the rear gear is not responding so I can’t back up. I put the scanner abd it’s reading that code p1777 is pending. What should I do, did I do something wrong why the reverse not working? Thank you
Thanks, this was a HUGE help. All I really had to research was crank shaft pulley gets torqued to 212 ft lbs on reassembly
Frank I have another question. I am not a mechanic and by watching this video I tried to change the stepper motor myself, I took off the all panel where the selenoids and stepper motor at, but now I can’t put it back because another piece of the panel attached to the stepper motor came off, I probably took some screws that I wasn’t supposedly to remove. Do you have video how to put the panel back, beside this video? Thank you for feed back
I don't have another video, but if you can send me pics at bpa7104@gmail.com, i might be able to help you a little more.
Thank you Frank. I’ll send you pictures. I appreciate you man.

nice and clear explanation boss..your the man…very helpful
What happened if the vehicle was running without transmission fluid? And through code p1777 and p 0845??
Get it looked at by a professional, but it sounds like you burnt up the actuator (valve) body. 1777 is the step motor. I believe a while ago I saw a p0845 (IF that's a pressure sensor B code) in a friend's Sentra and one possible fix was a valve body replacement. It didn't work. That being said, we also found the harness mangled by a previous "mechanic" so we never really got to the bottom of it. IF you ran it with very little fluid for ANY length of time and the vehicle produced DTCs, my recommendation is you get it to a transmission shop that works on CVTs and pray for the best. The p0845 is the doozie. As I think back, the pressure sensor is in the middle of the valve body and is not serviceable if I remember correctly. I'm not a mechanic nor a transmission specialist so I'm just telling you what I would do with my own vehicle. GOOD LUCK!
Thank you for your feedback. I run a scanner and in fact is reading code p1777 and p 0845

I really enjoyed your video and used to own a 6.0 PS diesel. Great work and tips such a shame that Navistar and Ford made so many costly mistakes on these engine which ended up being hard on us the consumers. Great work and really enjoyed your video
Please help, my Nissan altima 2008 2.5s stocked up in first gear, won't go beyond that, after diagnosed with computer, P1777 code was detected, today I took it to my mechanic, he service the gear, and test drive, it worked, after few seconds, when the car warmed up, it got stocked in first gear again. Now I noticed That ATF fluid was used to top up the gear oil instead of CVT fluid.. Please I need your help, what should I do?
OK. First of all, a P1777 is an ELECTRIC code that tells us the step motor is not reacting properly to electric input. I'm not sure what he did when you say he "serviced the gear." Absent obvious wiring damage, the repair involves replacing the step "motor" (actuator). Second, if your mechanic filled your tranny with ATF and not CVT fluid, I recommend you get another mechanic. it needs to be drained and refilled with CVT fluid. The step motor is relatively easy to replace. I think I bought mine for $34 or so. I hope this gives you some direction.
Have link for the crux interface? I have Sentra 2012 and want chage My factory stereo, need wheel controls works
Both these parts could have been condensed into a good 15 minute video.
Thanks for the feedback. My vids are geared toward the beginner or someone who is trying this type of project for the first time. I also try to point out some prior "fixes" that need to be redone OR flat out fixed correctly. This was the 2nd 3.6L C-head overhaul I did and I saw many of the same problems so i took a little more time with this one. FDA3
Same problem with my prostar 2015 it has a broken manifold bolt cummins isx dont get panic its not the turbo its just a bolt
Was the same kind of noise
One of the best how to videos on the net
Wouldn't the blue locktite go on the outer ring on the seal? I totally enjoyed this video thanks.
So I did everything except the pin bit but the car accelerates on it own on the freeway could that be it
I am having the same problem I push gas pedal and nothing. But I reset the throttle body relearn procedure it will go for about 50 feet and go into limp mode ! MY question is if the transmission was messed up mechanical part of it. Could by resetting comp fix it! I think it's an electrical part solenoids or stepper motor! Any ideas
Well, if your scanner produces a P1777 you're gonna need to replace the stepper motor. Resetting the modules will let it run normal until the TCM picks up a failed diagnostic.
@frankdaiii6403 I did have a code I don't remember what it was. B4 he reset the code on his little scanner thing. I think it said speed sensor! But I called nissan and he told me at the parts counter that it sends the sensor code when there is an internal failure! But I figure a computer can't fix a broken mechanical thing right! It drives for a little bit then stops! In limp mode! No sounds other than maybe a lite scrape of metal. If I change the stepper motor and maybe solenoids do u think it might work!
And there is reg atf oil in the tranny. Is that OK
@Mary-qo1wu NO NO NO! CVT Transmission fluid is all you should use. Period. You are correct, you are not going to fix anything with a scanner, BUT you need the actual diagnostic trouble codes in order to be pointed in the right direction. AND you should know not all base-level scanners will pick up Nissan transmission codes. Do not "fire the parts cannon" at the problem and hope you fix it. Generally, metallic sounds coming from a Continously Variable Transmission ( or any tyranny for that matter) is a very bad thing and you should have it checked by a reputable shop.
Would this fix my clutch slipping problem? I have a P1778 code but my 2011 sentra doesn't go limp, it does the opposite (rpms up but barely moving)
I don't think it's a clutch problem. 1778 is a mechanical malfunction of the step motor. Circuit is good, but it's not responding as it should, which means it could be stuck in high gear.
@@frankdaiii6403 do you think I should proceed to replace the stepper motor?
@amxr2728 yes.
On the door handke...don't unscrew it...pull the lever back and pull up on the cables to slip ghem right out. One round one smaller so no need to worry which is which.
You did a great job explaining the proper procedure for this job and I can tell you really put your heart into your buisness. I subscribed and I hope more people suscribe to your videos because you deserve it.
Thanks for the education
OK i finally did the job and i did it by watching this video…and it was a great help…it feels so good to be driving again…THANK YOU
thank you Frank for all the info you have been a great help…..im going through the same shyt
This video helped me a lot. Thank you Alamo Tx
Frank, great videos on the 6.4. Can I get the part number for the front seal installer from Freedom Racing? Keep up the good work and thanks in advance.
I have a nissan rogue cvt 2012, when you have a bad stepp motor or not properly engaged does it feel like a clutch slipping ( rpms go all the way up on acceleration but vehicle barely moves) or is it more like you accelerate but rpms don't really move all the way up?
MINE felt like a dead pedal (limp mode).
@FRANK DAIII yeah from the videos I have seen. It looks like the symptom is like limp mode. You floor the accelerator pedal but it won't accelerate. ( rpms just get stuck on 2 or 3k rpms) mine is more like slippage, rpms shoot all the way up but vehicle barely moves. Definitely a mechanical issue with the transmission.
turbo gasket loose
frank can we get the link for the front seal installer thanks
