  • Here's the second part of the video. The upper intake plenum is off for the duration, and it's attachment is contained in Part 1. ( here's the link.)

I'm trying to post videos that show the "hurdles" we encounter between "remove attached lines and mounting bolts before removing part 'X'" and the part sitting on a table 5 video seconds later. I'm also trying to include faster sizes and any special procedures to keep people from breaking harnesses and/or parts by prying, pulling or yanking from the wrong points. Some of the "tips" are elementary for more experienced mechanics, and I'm still learning myself about the complexities not of the raw wrenching, but rather trying to video good angles, FOCUSING properly and proper vernacular while getting the job done properly. Feel free to comment below on what you find WRONG as well. I can't get better at this if I don't get constructive criticism. I'm old enough to handle it, believe me.
LEGAL DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a professional mechanic nor does any part of this video include a guarantee/warranty of any kind. What I have found in the best mechanics is they KNOW when they are beyond the scope of their expertise. LOOK ELSEWHERE if you don't find your answers here. I DO NOT encourage viewers to engage in "try-agnostics."

Good job on explaining the steps necessary for the job. I could see myself doing it just the way you went about it.

Have suggestion for the master cylinder dripping away. I try to find a screw in plug or cap the line to prevent the m/c from going dry.
This issue with these pumps are ridiculous and widespread.. Just bought a used one for my Taurus. Ye' old occasional sinking brake pedal syndrome.
Similar job to yours but the bracket does not have to be pulled.
Did the intake job for the plugs a while back and it was no picnic. No worries, I gave the video a thumbs up :)
Good luck on your future projects! SG3

Thanks! People say, "you should make a UA-cam video of this!!" Turns out it's a little more complicated than it looks! THE VIDEO part, not the repair itself! Thanks for the comment!

Great video, getting ready to change my abs pump, I’m really dreading it, but I’ve eliminated any other causes of my low pedal on my wife’s 2013 mkx

@@frankdaiii6403 just ordered a new oem pump,I did get a scanner, Foxwell Nt 630, also did several bleeds, pedal is much better but still fades, I’ve already changed the master cylinder I thought that was the obvious problem, but ofcourse that didn’t fix it, I’m going to try to replace the abs pump without taking the intake off, I’m sure it’s going to be a bitch !

@@jackieliner3812 intake really just made for better access, which I did only because I tuned it up at the same time. If you get really stuck, it might be worth taking 30 min to get the intake off. Maybe look at access from the bottom of you have stands. I didn't when I did it. May the Force be with you!

@@frankdaiii6403 thanks, I was hoping that it wasn’t necessary to remove the intake, but I’ve found that sometimes it’s easier to just take the time and remove things that make it more difficult to the repair your trying to do. I’ll see if it’s easier to get to some of the mounting bolts from the bottom, I had a Ford Ranger and that abs pump was mounted on the fender well, almost on top, but ofcourse it never went bad, as you know this pump is completely buried, (go figure!)
