A video that never needed to be made, that I made regardless :) Apologise for my ineptitude at times. I thought as GeeDub are actually giving us Old World news I had to make some content for you fine folks. Three new characters (not really new, but anyway), and some information on the current state of the Dwarven Holds

My first Warhammer The Old World Tournament. Had an absolute blast, loved every minute. For some reason known only to OBS parts of the video picture are corrupted. I filmed a few times but had similar results so went with this edit. Should still be watchable I hope.

The Future of Warhammer The Old World
Started to watch this and got less than 2 minutes in before you are moaning about the price…..
Tyrion Navy just pips Burnt Moss imo
Murder scene looks great but i think having the spear red takes away from it. So Tyrian Navy it is
my first : Tyrian Navy my second : Murder scene (excuse-me if the colors are not perfetc : i'am french). i LIKE your video.
This is one of the most useful pa8nting videos I've seen. Stone trolls are my favorite, the look like the stepped out of the pages of a Brian Froud sketchbook and have a ton of personality. Yesterday I was invited to join a small group of 8th edition players at my friendly kind-of local games shop. So I'm diggingt through my orcs and goblins trying to put together 500 points. I have three of these guys and I'm going to paint one with which to start out. Thank you for the enjoyable and encouraging video!
Thanks for the video! Very helpful
Love speed / contrast paints but I think it's worth the effort to do traditional metals, the gold looks a bit 'plasticy'.
Not bad at all! Honestly these old skele models are a bit crap haha.. this is about the level of detail they deserve. Good enough from tabletop height.
Very nice. As a lazy bastard I went straight to colored speedpaints from a grey primer haha. Yours is more work but looks better.
As a beginner, do you recommend I paint my miniatures with these Citadel Paints?: •Orruk Flesh •Corvus Black •Mephiston Red •Wraithbone •Mechanicus Standard Grey •Kantor Blue •Steel Legion Drab I could buy more "correct" paints but I love my kidney very much, greetings and thanks!
I mean that's a decent start for a lot of minis.. don't feel locked in to GW paints. Other brands like Vallejo and Army Painter can be much cheaper and (sometimes) better
Tyrian Navy for sure. I like Muder Scene for Skavens, I don't know exactiy why.
Oh Nehekhara my beloved, you return in force, barely changed and just a little bit better than I remember you last.
Enjoyed this. May pick one up.
I like to have slight differences for each unit, with an overall color theme throughout the army. You could have the pop of red on the spear and the shields as the the ‘theme’ and have all 4 colors of robes for the separate mobs.
Looking forward to painting vids of these little guys.
I really like your technique here. Great way to get a lot of models on the table, relatively quickly, with very nice results. I like all the colors of cloaks- maybe mix them up.
don't choose. use all of them. mix em up. or a different colour for each unit, maybe.
Just got my first tomb kings spearmen painted, the shields definitely don't like speed paint though, it gets blotchy there. I put on a very thin layer of army painter "warpaints fanatic" Hydra Turquoise and now they look perfect
Where you also missing an empty right fist that’s meant to go on the musician?
Hope everything is ok in your neck of the woods? Haven't seen a new video in over a month! 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Ack some pretty big changes in life at the minute, quite possibly a home move included. Like Arnie always says though ‘Il be back”. Thanks for checking in :)
Looking forward to your return, take care and look after yourself! @DecrepitGaming
@DecrepitGaming Ah, that Real Life stuff. Glad to hear from you. And echoing what @DragonHeart1791 said, take care of yourself, we'll see you when you're ready. 👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎
Have you primed these in white only? Im doing mine this weekend - there cleaned and ready to be primed
Yes I always prime with white spray
love this paint job, i can imagine it with some extra edge highlighting and some blending as well to even drive the contrasts further for an overall effect. well done. PS: I also really liked the old WD with the "flying cabage" painted in there :)
Thank you, yes the model would lend itself to a lot of more advanced painting techniques. However I’m all about just getting stuff done to a decent standard these days.
love that murder scene red!
The navn one is The best with murderscene a coose second
My fav is Tyrian Navy :)
Love your painting guides for the Tomb king range so far , ordered a bunch of colors and just started - will shamelessly copy much of your color choices. By the way , are there any more updates coming to the TK? would love to see you paint som Tomb Guard and Warsphinx , keep it up really fun to watch!
Hello, I don't know the rules of the Old World. In the fourth edition (Yeah its 30 years old, I know #Decrepit Gaming ;) you only got the rank bonus for complete rows of five when the combat result is calculated in close combat. Is this still the case? If that is still the case (and the minimum number of five models somehow indicates this to me), it is an impudence on GM's part not to even put complete blocks of twenty in such a box. I have to give GW credit that they probably make the best quality models. But in my opinion that doesn't justify these ridiculous prices. I wonder you do not get into mantic e.g. For Pannithor (the mantic fantasy universe), in addition to ship battles, Rank n File and Skirmishers, there is even its own hero quest game “Dungeon Saga”. And this for roughly half the price. Mantic is even keeping up with the times and selling STL files that you can print yourself. From my perspective, there is a lot of strong competition out there. I no longer need to buy GW products. warm regards
Thank you for sharing the project :) I got myself some hundreds of these little guys and always wanted to get them done for 9th age. For me the blue one should have the best effect as a big block of these guys, second is the burgundy. However going for the grayish one and having the lords and heroes in one of those alternate colors is what I probably would do. Im still not set on what color scheme I want mine, wich is a big reason for my inaction ^^
A really great Colossus, my next paint project! Thx so much for this tutorial.
I am a big fan of the "Murder Scene" color. I picked some up because of this video. I am also in the process of painting a lot of the Skull Pass goblins and I really liked the way yours turned out!
I’m glad that you found the video useful. The Murder scene colour is really nice. It was a hard decision between the three main colours and I would have been happy with any of them. In the end I used the murder scene colour for the command models in each unit. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
I really like to learn from you. My problem i have are, the brush i must use with the army painter speedpaint. What kind of brush do you use ?
You can use any brushes available to you. I tend to use cheap synthetic brushes although you can use more expensive sable brushes as well. Speed paints and contrast paints tend to be hard on brushes and they won’t last as long as when using traditional acrylics. Just buy some cheap brushes in sizes from 1 to 00000. I hope this helps
very informative, any chance you have this written down somewhere? lol
It has been my intention to make more detailed videos on where to start and what I would buy. I will get around to it once life gives me a break. Thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment
Do you have any skaven ?
Hi I do intend to paint some ratfolk up for the channel when I get time. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
Fantastic review. I have bought and played this and was astounded by how good it was a homage to the world of vampires and horror perfectly done as an incredible Heroquest expansion kit I cannot wait to see more from Hon 👏🙏
Indeed they have done an excellent job with the expansion. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
Jeez that is a fugly wyvern
Is this the metal or resin tomb scorpion?
It’s a metal one
I used gravelord grey speed paint to paint the stonework and it also came out looking great.
That’s good to know. I will have to acquire a pot. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
Very nice! I've not tried any but I've always fancied getting the Atlantis quest at some point :)
Very professionally done, wouldn’t be able to tell this is a fan made product. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
@DecrepitGaming you're welcome, it was nice to find the video. I picked up some 3rd party stuff in Extra Quest a while back, but that was designed for the old style game, I need to pick up come bits like this for the new version :)
Don your sword and sandals, Atlantis is calling!
Well done on the model looks really good! Looking forward to more old world videos. I've now built a table in my garage 😄 🤣
Happy days on the table in your garage now you have to assemble terrain lol that’s another project for you. I have the next two weeks flat out in work then back to the channel. I still have Tomb kings models to paint as well as Orc stuff to finish those series of videos before I move on to other armies.
Lookong forward to seeing the rest of the TK and O&G videos. Would love to see you do one of your rambling videos about the latest news and releases of Dwarfs and Chaos Warriors 😂. I got a neoprene mat coming from flames of war which is grass one side and desert the other, and got a couple things from etsy on the way for the terrain pieces.@DecrepitGaming
@@DragonHeart1791 Yes much rambling to come lol when I have some time. Thanks for continuing to support the channel even though it's been quiet recently. Real life sucks
Burnt moss!!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. In the end I went with Tyrion navy. To be honest I would have been happy with any of the colours tested.
Been watching several videos now and it's so satisfying watching the models get finished quick and with such a nice result. You put joy back to painting for me. I only have to finish some models using the style I doing now for consistency, but will change to this way ASAP. Many of my ideas for armies are now doable, since I never play with unpainted models (brings bad luck). Question: When would you change the base shade to a different colour? Seen you have used a brown wash instead of a black when painting brown wolves. Would you say a blue wash would be better when painting for examlpe Blue Horros using this technique? Thx again! This has made so me excited again about painting! :)
The beauty of speed paints is they are so thin but cover so well you can do a lot of experimenting and just cover it back over with white, without loss of detail. I would tell you to use what I show as a guide and to change what you see fit. Thank you again for taking the time to leave me a comment
@@DecrepitGaming Thx for the reply! I been window shoping for paints now and watched a few other videos of using contrasts. It seems GW has some versions that are more covering than others, with no shading effect. So I guess that is something to look out for?
His work is outstanding. Own them all and yes they can be challenging but great job done.
It really is. I was very surprised by how professional a job the guys have done. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
Thanks amigo for supporting the whole series. Indeed, they definitely pack a punch!
Tyrian navy :)
That’s the colour I went with in the end :)
That looked a good event. Was it even promoted on the Warhammer: the old world Facebook group.
There is another one next weekend that I won’t be able to attend thanks to work. I need to get back to my channel as well. Lots of stuff planned
Got this the other week, it will be some time before I play it but I had it as a kid and there is just so nostalgia with it. I wish some of the skeleton knights in armour on the box were actual characters.
We need more characters and more varied monsters. Basically just more stuff :) thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
@@DecrepitGaming I like idea of an Egypt themed pack. Mummies with the masks of Anubis etc, something a bit different. Maybe Animal Headed Gods too!
Those look great! Subscribed! I never really liked white primer, but I might try it again.
Works a treat with the speed paints. Thank you for the sub and taking the time to leave a comment
@@DecrepitGaming Np:) I never had a good covering with white primer compared to black, even when I spray two models at the same time for comparison.^^' I maybe do something wrong. Gonna aply your technique on my next army. :)
That green/blue colour was very nice! Sometimes I wonder why I keep doing "normal" painting with base, layers, wash...takes too long.^^'
I painted with normal paints and techniques once upon a time lol. Now I just like to get things done
I ordered this recently and I am very impressed with the prestation and like them. It would be a good opportunity for AH to re-release exclusive figures that some of us missed. I hope they do more of these, maybe with an evil Assassin who follows the players around or something. I agree about painting. I just want to get painted and up and read, I won't be entering any painting competitions!
I hope they continue to release product for us. New characters and npcs would be great
I had the original HeroQuest and all the expansion that I could get in the UK. Left the hobby when I got a Sega Megadrive in 1991ish and its only the New HeroQuest that's brought me back after 33 years. For Kellers Keep I like how 3D Minis have created models to replace the boring tiles (the forge and the hands).
I never even noticed that 3d minis were creating tiles. Thanks for that I must take a look. Much like you sega and other things came along although I always kept one foot in miniatures of some variety over the years. I was thrilled to see hasbro/avalon hill re release the game and all the expansions are great, they add so much and keep folks going back to the game. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
@@DecrepitGaming My pleasure, yes the 3D minis really do offer some interesting add on's for all the expansions (they also have a website, which breaks it down a bit better). Yes I had gotten HeroQuest, Advanced HeroQuest and was getting into Warhammer Fantasy, then along came Sega and I lost all interest. I think there is a huge element of nostalgia with HeroQuest and I was saying even 15-20 years ago I wish they would bring it back. I actually purchased something from Games Workshop yesterday, the first time in over 30 years! It's actually nice just owning something in a box again, it feels like years since I have had anything like it as mostly boxes just get thrown out!
Have you got a video of how you prepare models, eg primers? Thanks
It’s a video I have always meant to do but never got around to it. Maybe I will work on getting that fixed. It might be of use to some people
