This is one of the most useful pa8nting videos I've seen. Stone trolls are my favorite, the look like the stepped out of the pages of a Brian Froud sketchbook and have a ton of personality. Yesterday I was invited to join a small group of 8th edition players at my friendly kind-of local games shop. So I'm diggingt through my orcs and goblins trying to put together 500 points. I have three of these guys and I'm going to paint one with which to start out. Thank you for the enjoyable and encouraging video!
Thank you again for these ❤ I got 6 trolls, 3 from AoS and 2 of the ones you have and 1 I got from etsy so this video will come in really handy for me.
I would say a couple of hours, but a lot of that time was waiting for stuff to dry. Get them sprayed white, add the nuln oil. Then once that is dry you will fly through, not long at all, I could easily have done all 6 in one sitting but I didn't want to bore folks.
It's a nice colour. Most of the speed paints I have tried from Army Painter are nice although there are many I have not tried yet. Also one or two I do not care for. I guess all paint ranges are the same in that regard. Than you for leaving a comment
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. The wash definitely helps with shading the overlaying colours without having to go over the top of the colour after painting (I hope that makes sense). Have a great day :)
I thought, let's make them a little different to so called traditional Stone Troll blue. I does work I think and I'm quite happy with it. Thank you again for continuing to watch my content. Hopefully I can make you pick a paint brush up if you haven't already :)
Yep, hit them with a drybrush, makes perfect sense. I may go back in the future and add highlights. Gotta get them Waaaagh! ready first though. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
Thank you. They look battle ready, not going to win any prizes but I can always go back at a later date and add detail if the desire takes me. Have a great day :)
I am super happy if I inspire anyone to get their miniatures painted. We can always go back and add more detail in the future, if the desire takes us. Have a great day and thank you for leaving a comment :)
Hi, i like your paint job.. I will sugest, mix a small part of gloss vernish with white prime (in the primer phase ) .. in the wash phase, mix nul oil with flow improver...will reduce de coffe steam in the nul oil phase . With this recipe, use small quantity of speed paint on the brush .. give a shot and tell me ..
I will certainly try the flow improver in the nuln oil. The gloss varnish is harder as I do not want to prime with an airbrush (although I could and I have before). I will have to think about how it can easily be done. I am all for learning new things and I thank you for taking the time to leave me a constructive comment. Have a great day :)
@@DecrepitGaming Hello, so... the varnish mixed with the primer will not only soften the wash but also work better with the contrast paint. In this case, you will use a smaller amount of contrast paint on the brush and use more of its transparency effect, thus letting the lines outlined by the wash stand out more,
Subbed!!! Right do i have to use nuln oil? I only have army painter so will dark tone do the same or will i have 2 thin it down wiv a medium? Iv got the skull pass boxset from when i was a kid n only primed the goblins black, gonna strip them n prime them white n use this version of the slapchop method:)
Use the strong tone, just remember to wait until it’s fully dry then heavy dry brush of white. Then start your colour scheme. Have fun achieving results:)

Also, how long roughly did it take you to paint these?
Really fun to paint, just don't be intimidated by them, you won't ruin them :)

I'm going to have to pick up a bottle of Raging Sea.
Thanks!

raging sea is what i need for my zhufbar dwarf holds i think
Really great looking minis, what a neat idea of putting a wash on the white.

That green/blue colour was very nice! Sometimes I wonder why I keep doing "normal" painting with base, layers, wash...takes too long.^^'
I painted with normal paints and techniques once upon a time lol. Now I just like to get things done
I like your style. Subbed!
Thank you Casey
amazing sculpts! I was drooling over these as a teenager :D couldnt afford them sadly :D
They are back again for as long as GW decide. Not extortionately priced either, at least in the UK
Your videos are amazing! Your painting is great! I hope you are enjoying documenting your hobby.
I am enjoying it very much, it keeps me concentrated on one thing at a time. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. Have a great day
They look great! I do like that green, very nice.

Wonderful video, great pace, easy to follow.
Thank you Southpaw for leaving me a comment. I hope you have a great day :)
Great vid m8....I think I'll copy your colour scheme and if I'm feeling frisky may do abit of highlights with a dry brush too..

They look great! I suspect I'll be copying your troll idea once I've finished painting my gitz with your idea from a previous video 😊

Subbed! Great end result :)
Thank you for the sub, and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment

Thank you for continuing to watch my meagre efforts, it means a lot :) I hope you have a great day

@@DecrepitGaming another way is keep using white spray to prime, but after dry, give a coat of satin varnish over the white...
I will try this method and see how it goes.

@DecrepitGaming ok thank you, will have a go :)
Hi mate, I'm gonna need you to drop everything and paint mine.
Haha, I’m all outta steam at the minute. RL getting in the way of the paint brush and the video camera. You can do it! Lol I have faith in you
@@DecrepitGaming I'm out of steam too. Too much going on in the real world.
😊
Short but sweet :)
