Elvis Presley was the most important and influential artist of the twentieth century. His multi-racial and genre-defying music inspired a generation and played a part in the ongoing struggle for civil rights.
Long accepted as the greatest hit-maker and singles artist in popular music, this channel invites the listener to reconsider Elvis' work as an album artist by re-presenting his LPs in a revised and more logical fashion, accompanied by simple mood-setting videos.
Music is always best appreciated when heard in context: the "sleeve notes" that accompany the projects attempt to place each album in its relevant time, that the recordings of this great musician may be better understood and enjoyed.

Heartbreak Hotel: Before Elvis (sheet music & demo)
The story of how "Heartbreak Hotel" came to be Elvis Presley's first hit record is a long and fascinating tale, now captured in a new book entitled "Walk A Lonely Street".

Elvis Presley: The Rainmaker screentest
Переглядів 14 тис.7 років тому
In March 1956, Elvis flew to Hollywood for a screentest. He memorised and performed a scene from "The Rainmaker", which was about to start filming. Elvis played the part of Jim Curry, a headstrong young man, and all that remains of his test are a few black and white photographs, which are here overlaid on the same scene from the finished movie, where the part is played by Earl Holliman who won ...

During the 1970s, when superstars visited Las Vegas, they always made a point of attending the best show in town: Elvis Presley at the Hilton Hotel. And after each gig, Elvis would invite a selection of celebrities from all fields to visit him in his penthouse suite, which sometimes made for fascinatingly electic meetings. One of the best post-gig stories comes from the summer of 1972* when Ali...
Jeff Buckley: Hallelujah

The death of Leonard Cohen was reported in the news this week, always accompanied by the phrase, "the composer of 'Hallelujah'" to enlighten the many who would simply have no idea who this man was. Cohen was a creative soul of rare wit and intelligence who had survived on the fringes of mass fame for almost half a century before the aforementioned song achieved global success on the back of tal...
Elvis Presley: An American Trilogy

As far as can be ascertained, Elvis Presley never voted, and his personal politics remained exactly that. But there's little doubt that Elvis loved his country and loved all the greatness to which his country aspired. There were times too when the dark side of America appalled him: he was, for instance, horrified not only at the death of Martin Luther King but also that it happened in his home ...
When Zeppelin met Elvis: May 1974
Переглядів 7 млн7 років тому
The two most popular and successful live acts of the 1970s were Elvis Presley and Led Zeppelin, who played to capacity crowds night after night. Coincidentally, both were handled by Concerts West, one of the biggest tour promoters in America. In May 1974, the company offered complimentary tickets to Zeppelin for Elvis' gig at the LA Inglewood Forum, with the possibility of meeting him afterward...

Elvis Presley: How Great Thou Art (the re-union)

To say that Elvis Presley loved Gospel music would be an understatement. It was by far his favourite musical genre and the three personal Grammy awards he received during his lifetime were for recordings in this field. From the summer of 1956 until the summer of 1977, whenever he stepped on stage, he did so accompanied by at least one Gospel harmony group; that's how highly he valued the Gospel...
Elvis Presley: the Jaycee's Speech 1971
Переглядів 23 тис.8 років тому
On 16th January 1971, Elvis Presley did something very unusual: he gave a speech. He had received a prestigious award as one of the Jaycee's Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Year and offered a moving one minute precis of his approach to life, using an old Roy Hamilton hit, "Without A Song", as his theme. It was almost made up on the spot, and there are occasional stumbles, but this may be the m...
Sam Bell remembers his friend, Elvis Presley

This is a delightful and vital clip from the ITV programme "Elvis and Me" by Joanna Lumley. In it she interviews Elvis' boyhood friend, Sam Bell, who remembers the times he shared with the young Elvis, confirming that Presley was oblivious to colour, both in people and in music. www.georgesmithpublications.com WalkALonelyStreet GeorgeSmithPub
Wow ,almost as good as in person, i was able to see him when i was 16

I have taught public speaking and would use this small miracle of a speech as an introduction. The King really rose to the occasion. RIP.

Every public moment of this man’s life should have been recorded for posterity. It’s hardly likely the world will experience another like Elvis.

You can’t get better - Elvis, and this hymn! How beautiful!
What a voice. We'll never see the likes of him again.
there wil never be another that will ever sing this song like Elvis did ❤❤❤❤
The only version, other than Elvis', that I actually enjoy. He did his own thing but did it justice -- just as gritty and hard-hitting as the original, yet in a completely different style. I've been looking for this for a while; thank you for posting.
Elvis' influence on popular music is immutable. The man made such a mark on popular music that the reverberations of his influence on the genre are still felt today. He is still referenced, still talked about, still inspiring musicians. It is insane to think about his legacy, nearly 80 years after the iconic era of his music in the 1950s. Without Elvia, I don't know if many of the Delta Blues singers that he loved and venerated would be known today. Say what you want about his artistry, but the man brought attention to many artists who would have been forgotten and lost to time.
Hawaii, 1960😃❤️
wish i fly on the wall for that night
No i super....🎸🎶
I cover this song.
Praise The Lord
I lost a friend that looked like Elvis named flowers Duran of McAllen and the guy who killed him is out on the land and running like a lamb cause he was Doctor and was worth a lot clams.

Gandioso és tú ! Grandioso és tú !❤inesquecivel ! Eternamente Elvis!❤❤❤
Gorgeous job
Elvis got all bases covered. Rock and Roll and Gospel music.
Holy shit. It's so insane to hear Elvis talking about Led Zeppelin. I didn't even know he was aware of them lol. It's weird thinking about them as even the same type of music under the label "rock music" lol.
This version is so lovely.
let this be known.......Elvis was a Gospel singer.!!...First and foremost...!!!!...it may be true that his incredible popularity was attributed to his rock and roll career ....!!!..But Elvis never forgot GOD ...!!!!!....He was a devout Christian ...First ....!!!! ...and a rock and roll singer second...Never forget that ....!!!........One You Tube post said that Elvis was always ready to push the bounderies of rock and roll...Nonsense !!...Elvis Never pushed any bounderies .!!...if there were any boundary pushing it was from his songwriter producers and manager ...!!!.......His greatest songs will always be his Gospel songs ...!!!to all his loyal fans .....all over the world ...!!!......
Aus vollem Herzen und sehr überzeugend 😘💞
Elvis voice is an angel that Jesus gave him
Ahh bullshit!
The king sings this beautiful song the best.
So beautiful!!!
Oh Lord, my God When I, in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder Thy power throughout the universe displayed Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art And when I think that God, His Son not sparing Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing He bled and died to take away my sin Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart Then I shall bow, in humble adoration And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art How great Thou art, how great Thou art Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Stuart Hine / Adam Palmer / Matthew Hein / Stephanie Kulla
