- During the 1970s, when superstars visited Las Vegas, they always made a point of attending the best show in town: Elvis Presley at the Hilton Hotel. And after each gig, Elvis would invite a selection of celebrities from all fields to visit him in his penthouse suite, which sometimes made for fascinatingly electic meetings.
One of the best post-gig stories comes from the summer of 1972* when Alice Cooper, Liza Minelli, Lindon Lovelace and Chubby Checker all found themselves on their way to visit the King. Cooper, Minelli and Lovelace were at the heights of their careers but they were awed at the thought of meeting Elvis, and no one knew what to expect when they arrived at his presidential suite.
Presley was in glorious form during that time and was riding high in the charts with his number one hit, "Burning Love." Sometimes his post-gig gatherings would feature all night gospel singing, on other occasions he might just chat ... and then there were the times he decided to entertain his guests ...
If you like great stories about Elvis, you might enjoy my forthcoming book, "Walk A Lonely Street".

*It's difficult to pinpoint exactly when this event happened (even the year) but as Cooper, Minelli and Lovelace were all enjoying spectacular success during the summer of 1972 it seems likely that Elvis might have invited them at that time. Also, apropos Liza's reference to the Peter Sellers' movie, Elvis was a huge Peter Sellers fan and would have simply loved that observation.

Yeah.. The Coop and the King...
A duet I would've loved to see.
Yes, he was Elvis!! And you said everything.
THE ULTIMATE ENTERTAINER PERIOD!!!!!
WILD TIMES, with the king of rock and roll
Elvis was an entertainer. He just loved to entertain. He didn't have to do this but it was in his being. Chubby Checkers said Linda Thompson was there also. He didn't give this detailed of the event though. But he also said Elvis was so nice. I've never heard anyone say anything else. Elvis was a very nice man. Wish I could have even seen one of his concerts. R.I.P Elvis 💕👑💕 thank you for taking the time to put this together. A great video, about this great man.
Laughed my ass off and Elvis would have too remembering that and listening to the way they told it... Great 👍😀😂
He was ELVIS !!!!!
Still the King of R & R
You four were so lucky to meet him personally !
MYTHIC🌟🕺😎
The Man !
This is very nicely put together. I agree that Elvis would probably have appreciated the Peter Sellers comparison :)
