- This is a delightful and vital clip from the ITV programme "Elvis and Me" by Joanna Lumley.
In it she interviews Elvis' boyhood friend, Sam Bell, who remembers the times he shared with the young Elvis, confirming that Presley was oblivious to colour, both in people and in music.

My amazing grandfather Mr. Sam Bell!!
Oh, are you really his granddaughter? 😊
Sorry to hear about your grandfather's passing. He was certainly a gentleman and a good soul
@@MikeyJMJ Thank you so much!! He is greatly missed!!! The City of Tupelo has declared every year September 6 as Sam Bell, Jr. Day ❤️ that's the day he passed away last year.
This should put an end to the question of whether Elvis was a racist or not. He even said “Mam “ and “Sir” to Sams grandparents. The blacks in the neighborhood “adopted Elvis and taught him to play guitar and piano.
Thank you Sam Bell for showing us Elvis at ages 6 - 11. Wish they would have let you backstage in the1960’s when you tried to see him.
Some people don't want to believe the truth!
