    I prefer to email/message trades people 'cos i know they may have their hands full on on the job. I don't want to inconvenience them. But the amount of tradespeople who don't reply is quite a lot, I've found. A simple, "sorry, we are too busy" etc is better than nothing. Quite often, I have to resort to sites like mybuilder to find people. Another pet peeve is people not showing up at all when they say they would.

      I went to look at a job the othe day, they said the same people say they will come and quote then dont turn up, it can mess up the potential clients plans aswell if they are waiting on someone to show up.

    Hi there, I’m a decorating newbie, about to decorate my downstairs toilet and hallway, and I’d really appreciate some advice please… I’m looking to use this easycare paint, pure brilliant white, as that is the colour currently on the walls as it is a new build (well - 3 years old now lol) and I feel like it’s a good colour because the hallway is very small. This might be a really stupid question, but I don’t know what I’m doing haha - can I use the easycare on the ceiling as well as the walls, to save buying two separate lots of paint, one for walls and one for ceiling? Seeing as it’s all going to be the same colour? And does this paint look any different when it’s dry, as opposed to the standard matte type paint? Really hope you see this comment - and thank you very much in advance for any advice!

    • @Inexteriors
      @Inexteriors День тому

      Yes you can use it on ceiling aswell, to be honest i would not use it on large ceilings. because it it does have a very minimal sheen to it and it would probably show imperfections, but small ceilings should be fine.

    Hi Steven, I've got two ceiling related questions. How do you go about cutting in if there's cornices - do you paint this first, then roll the rest ? If there's a picture rail with narrow edge running along the wall, do you paint it out after the ceiling, then do walls, or do it last with other woodwork ?

    • @Inexteriors
      @Inexteriors 12 днів тому

      Paint cornice first, then go round again and cut in ceiling then roll. The picture rail can be done 2 ways 1st way paint to finish then cut in wall colour to it, 2nd way paint little lip in with wall colour then paint the front of the picture rail with woodwork colour leaving the little lip in the wall colour.

    • @solimansoliman9806
      @solimansoliman9806 12 днів тому

      Cheers Steven, much appreciated. Just to clarify the 1st method of doing picture rail - do you mean to bring it down with the ceiling (painting out) then doing wall, instead of leaving until last ?

    • @Inexteriors
      @Inexteriors 12 днів тому

      @@solimansoliman9806 you will be painting it with the woodwork colour i assume, there for you will be undercoating it then top coating it

      @@Inexteriors thanks. sorry, I should explain myself better. What I mean is, can the topcoat of picture rail be painted out (bought down with the ceiling) then doing wall, then rest of woodwork, rather than topcoating it last with other woodwork, at least when theres a narrow or non-existent lip connecting it to wall. Much appreciated.

    Hi, I used BIN Zinsser on wall as an undercoat before painting on top white paint but because wall was getting wet from exterior, the interior wall became like an off white yellow colour and bubbled etc. Exterior has been rectified professionally fingers crossed and have left it for a month so I have sanded down and wanted to know should I used the BIN again or should I try an oil based undercoat or are they the same.

      The bin should work if not try the oilbased undercoat.

      @Inexteriors 20 днів тому

      No they are not the same bin is shallac based and dries fast there fore you can get the emulsion on faster, Oil based undercoat takes 24 hours to dry or longer pending on the drying environment.

      Thanks for your reply. So do you think it was the water within the wall eventually making it go an off white colour? Just concerned using the BIN again. But in theory if the water leaking into the walls has gone it should be ok. Just want to get it right first time as we are due to sell the house soon.

      Johstones trade, dulux trade, Albany trade. if you want something durable and scrubable they all to a durable matt, dulux do a diamond matt
