The reason it came back on is the computer realized it's unplugged. Unplugging it only good for figuring out which sensor it is. The computer will pick up certain sensors that are unplugged and go back into limp mode. You can try plugging the sensor in starting the truck and unplugging the sensor but you'll probably only get a few more blocks before the computer goes back into limp mode.

I have a 2007 6.0 that someone didnt take back in during a recall on the HPOP rear fitting. It came with a 2 piece fitting and was supposed to get a new one piece fitting. Never happened. Truck running bad. Turbo wouldn't spin up. Replaced turbo. No High Pressure oil. Engine full of glitter. Ground off lobes on camshaft. I kust parked it. Still have it. I actually love the 6.0 engine for its simplicity. Had an 05 with a 03 turbo and turbo mount. My favorite problem with the 6.0 was when people would run them low on oil, and the truck would die when it came to an idle. I lost count on how many were towed to the shop because people didn't check their oil level. Put in a couple of quarts, and it would fire right up and run fantastic. I had the same guy come back 2 times on a flatbed just to have the oil topped off and send him on his way. Yes, I did see my share of the bad side of the 6.0 powerstroke.

Yep and ford knows about it. They change their rocker arms a few times. No recall though even though the defective parts are on many years not just earliy models by the time theu caught it. It will fail a matter of when not if with that part unfortunately its usually after warranty. Im at 120k and on my second engine now thanks to Ford. Very easy to prove every one will fail eventually from this. Rocker get wiggle room walks off center of valve stem push rod comes out allows lifter to break engine grenades. Absolute Horse shit. @ford

I just bought a truck with this problem. The 6.7 has 4 valves per cylinder, and the design uses 4 different length rocker arms on each cylinder. The longest rocker arm, because it has more leverage, wears out the pivot and the rocker arm gradually goes sideways and works it's way to the edge of the valve and then falls off. On bank one of this engine 3 long rockers on 3 separate cylinders have come off the valve and the 4th one is about to. I think the one that came off first the lifter has popped up above the cam, I can get a bore scope down there and see the lifter is sideways but can't really tell if the cam is damaged, the head is going to have to come off. It looks like this truck hasn't had enough oil changes, could be part of the problem.

Okay, #6 has an intake valve not opening issue. Just did 3 different 6.4s from 2008 with similar issues. I suspect that the rocker retaining clips are allowing the slightest movements to be the root cause of this being a constant problem. The last 2 took a push rid set and clips. Problem solved.
