Great video, thanks man. My 2005 stock 6.0 sputters and stalls when it gets hot. Sitting on the side of the road for 10 minutes and will start back up and run for a few minutes. Fun times
Hey my name is Donnie I have a 6.7 that has a valve Tran issue same thing you had going on with the dealer truck everything as you said I when through, thanks for getting he info it made since after watching your video
About too tackle this same job on mine tomorrow very informitive you seemed too have covered everything so i subscribed ..thanks for the info i will have the injectors out also for an inspection...live and learn i say
I've replaced all the injector o-rings, stan pipes, dummy plugs, and nipple rings, along with new hpop w stc and still exact same thing. No start when hot. Same oil pressure as you're showing before the fix. A little over 300 psi, w the ipr at 85%. Starts fine cold, runs till you shut it off, then won't restart till cools down. Debating changing the injectors. Air leak test I can hear air but can't see or hear where it's coming from. It sounds like air is all over, not just from one point. So it makes me think I'm hearing the air passing through the rail, and not out of it. Thoroughbred diesel suggested testing the injectors. But they sell remans for $104 so spending $65 ea to test seems better to just spend another 40 to replace them. If 4 are bad, I'd spend $520 to get them tested, then I'd spend $416 to replace the 4 bad ones. That's $936 instead of $832 just to replace them all. They also thought a new pump would mask the issue and supply enough oil to handle the leak. Which it does have more pressure now hot than before a new pump but still not enough. Just a domino effect of problems costing a fortune to fix.
Thanks for sharing that knowledge. If you noticed the broken Part was ! inside ! the oil rail and not outside. so that seems like there is a leak, but in my mind wasn`t a problem! i my opinion it was just the regulator :) regards
Wow, what a complete video ,Reminds me of Ron the Dieseal Machanic. Question, My son and i Bullet proofed my 2004 F 250 at 54 K, all the new stuff .. High pressure oil pump at 75 K Plus a program box We didnot replace the Standpipes, never thought about that. Now, when its below 40 degrees it want start without plugging in the glow plug wire for about hour. It has 155 K miles runs like a top except during hunting season when it cold. Do you think i need to replace the OIl Rail Ball tube seals, I'm just an old 79 year dude that likes to work on stuff.. Thank you so much,, SE TExas
Thank you for the kind words. I can assure you that a cold start problem has nothing to do with the high pressure oil system. Those trucks will not turn on the check engine light for bad glow plugs. If you have someone scan the truck it'll probably show you have some bad glow plugs. Recommendation all my customers is to go buy 8 Ford glow plugs and the wiring harness for each side. It's not that expensive.
I changed glow plugs at 57 k , with all Ford parts all my part are Ford. Someone just told me it was the old type stand pipes ole rings . Thanks again .
@sterlingdavidgrasssr bad stand pipes or o- rings in the high pressure oil system will only cause a hard start when hot problem because the oil is thinner and can bypass the cut in the o-ring. I will guarantee if you are having a hard start when cold issue then something has gone bad in the glow plug system. Glow plugs do not last long in these trucks.
One of the trucks I maintain broke a standpipe in the exact same spot, had a loping idle when cold starting in the morning for about the first 10 seconds. Im thinking it is a flaw in the threads / casting or the standpipe was over torqued
I’m getting a p2623, ficm sync good with 48v. IPR up to 84.7% and only 280 on ICP. Actually found 2 screens when I pulled IPR. 1 was good other was shot to hell. Do you think that’s enough to give me crank no start when cold ??
I am having same issue with same stand pipe broken in same location. How loosen off the oil rail but how did you get the bottom piece oil rail off mine seems stuck in oil rail
2003 Hi my f250 powerstrocke 6.0 When is cold or Hot I had to spray starting enable to turn on the oil pressure is perfect what could be wrong with it Once the spray in the morning she stays on but when you shut it off when the motor is hot you have to spray again and able to get it running
When you say the oil pressure is perfect are you referring to the base oil pressure ( what the dash gauge shows) or high oil pressure that fires the injectors?
@@moavic5087 I have had to replace dummy twice this will be the third time having to replace them because it won't start. What could be causing them to fail?
Hi cincy been watching your videos for a while great work you do! I have two 2004 fords f250 superduty king ranch diesel and been having issues with both of them. The two trucks have the same problem when you put gas they both shut down when driving for a long time without giving any warning I have been stuck with it and no one can find the problem been wondering what it could be
@@alexisg_saxophone2772 Drop the tank and clean it out, replace the pickup foot (about 80 bucks) and only use parker raycor or Motorcraft fuel and oil filters

@cincydieselrepair6893 darn it. I'm in nc and I need this done. Just a bit intimidated since it's my first diesel. My truck leaks a bit of oil as well. Could this be the cause of the oil leak too? (Have the hot stall/no start)
@@cincydieselrepair6893 Have you ever heard of an injector spool being stuck open so oil flows through it when you don't want it to? I did an IPR air test and pin pointed a leak on my pass side. It was around injector 7, pulled oil rail and 7. Changed all o-rings on rail and injector. Moved injector from 7 position to 1. Leak followed still. I ran the truck with the valve cover off and visually noticed the now leaky 1 injector shooting oil out of it where the rest appeared to cycle oil out of the reliefs. The root issue is once oil is up to temp the truck is hard to start. But with the IPR air test the only place with a leak is that injector.
Hi I have very bad start when hot on 2015 f250 6.7 diesel. What can you tell me I did literally everything. Please help. Change both fuel filters replaced low pressure pump tighten up all my injectors rails. There is no leaks anywhere but it’s starting very horrible cranks for awhile but if you turn on ignition and let it sit for 10 seconds or more it’ll start right up
Question I was having a crank no start when hot then it started to shut off on me while driving around once I let it cool down it starts up it's a 2005 Ford f250 6.0 king ranch 2wd got alot of miles would it be with doing stand pipes
Ive got a hot no start condition right now, this video helps A TON. Will be attacking it this week.
I have same problem with my truck thank you for your videos
Outstanding video, especially the close up shots of each item that needs to be removed to gain access. Thank you.

Great video brother. I have to do this to my truck and watched a few of these videos and you have the best one
I found this same break on the stand pipe on the passenger side of the 05 Excursion we’re making a UA-cam tutorial for. 😮😮
8 hour drive in my excursion stopped to get diesel, it struggle to start, it looks like new injectors coming soon😢

Double check the orings didn’t rip during install on the stand pipe and dummy plug. Had the same thing. One of the o rings ripped during install.
Part numbers to o rings that go on the oil rail. Mainly that little screw, ive never replaced that one

My first 6.0 wrench job was this exact thing. Both sides. Of course everything else got replaced before the check valves got checked.
if the IRP gets close to 85 psi what does that mean? O-ring leak somewhere
Crazy I’ve had the same problem but I’ve changed my ipr now it won’t start after driving it. So now my next stop dummy plugs and standpipes for surely

How much does it cost for a job like this on a 6.0
@cincy diesel repair this is great job, what name of the scan tool you use to performed the test?
That’s no battery explosion, that’s pressure in the degas container blowing antifreeze out the cap head gaskets are gone
Will it make it start? Surging after it gets hot and shutting off
What's software are you are using to check? The screen very clean to check all parameters
It's Auto Enginuity. I highly recommend it. It can do almost every my $10,000 scanner from Snap-on can do for about $500.

Any 6.0 that won’t start when hot is almost always a high pressure oil leak. Replacing dummy plugs and standpipes on both sides is a good start.
