- This is a follow-up video on the 6.7 powerstroke with a valve train failure and also showing how much room there is to remove and install the cylinder head.
It’s nice to see an honest mechanic
We are about to tackle the the job. On a 2013 6.7 my son is going to do it. He went to UTI to become a diesel mechanic and work on it for 2 years. Then went back to college and now he is an electrical engineer. We might post it. thank you for this video.
Hey buddy, I really admire your honesty
Good pocket info. I have always removed cabs for ease. Maybe I'll try one in the truck next time, thanks bud.👍
I like the honesty. when my son worked at the dealership, he learned how most mechanics are rip off just because they want to make extra money. Thats not only dealers I think most shops specially if they don't know you, they will put it to you...
Just did my 12 in my driveway replaced the exhaust valves they were cracked because I couldn’t find new heads with everything going on
Thanks for sharing, it has helped me!
keep them videos coming a watched all of them, Very helpful!
Thanks Steve! I like hearing feedback like that.
@@cincydieselrepair6893 any up dates on the 6,7 on the cylinder 7 side?
@@steveheilig9262 I just need to unbolt the valve cover on that side and see what the damage is. I'm not sure if it will happen tomorrow or not.
2 years and still helping. However I got a question. My #4 cylinder and #3 cylinders injectors are stuck in the engine. Any tips?
It helped me on my 6.7
Hey brother thanks for the video. Can I bring my truck to you? I need head gasket done. Did the fluid test and i have a combustion leak, coolant out of the exhaust.. what’s the best way to reach you?
Send us an email with your information and I will contact you cincydieselrepair@gmail.com
I’ve been watching your videos I’m having a similar situation if I’m having diesel fuel come out the exhaust pipe does that mean an exhaust valve is crack broke or open
Really good information. Are you out of California ..I have a 2018 6.7 that's knocking..let me know if you'd be able to do business im out of Lynnwood ca??
Are you in Cincinnati and if so where abouts?
My brother is having compression issues on 2 and 7. No blow-by, everything else seems ok about 130k miles on the truck. Is this a piston ring issue or something else?
What year is the truck?
I have a dead cylinder 7 could it be the piston ,valves,
I have a 2014 6.7 that was overfilled with oil. Ran for a second, Killed it. Then try to start it again and it would not start. Drained 6 quarts of oil out of it and it ran bad. cylinder # 8 contribution code popped up. Cleaned the intake, changed injector # 8 and have a noise tapping noise from the passenger side only when i will step on it Not in idle. Bent push rod? Paid out my ass to change injector and problem not fixed.
I’m praying I don’t have to do this on a truck I just got out of auction. One buddy says oil cooler, the other says head gaskets. We’ll see!
Which one was it
What would u expect to pay for head gasket replacement , machining, arp studs, injectors cleaned, new glow plugs,- and is that all necessary for a 2016 w 90k miles and a tune
I’m bein told $7500
That's about right. $6300 to $8400 is what I'm coming up with at the shop, depending on some variables.
Head gaskets and etc on a 90k mile engine doesn't seem right, unless you're bulletproofing or etc and the heads are coming off for some reason to begin with.
But, that's about right as far as the price goes.
Hey sir got a question does the tits that push rods sit on the lifter are they supposed to work back and forth because some of mine do some dont
They can have a little play but they should really be pretty tight
also, the rockers and lifters needed all new, the pushorods never "go out" when that's all good. rockers and lifters are wear items, not pushrods.
6.0l 6.4, and 6.7 all have a procedure in the manual for cab on, and cab off. some cabs cannot be removed.. booms, buckets, ect, without many many more hours labor. if it's a pickup, and u dont pull the cab, u dont do enough of them to know the best way by thousands of hours of experience. This truck, the cab should have came off.
Also, wouldn't have put that head on till other side was diagnosed... what if that lifter or cam is bad?
You help me
I appreciate that. Thank you.
basically, u sell teardown and tell them if they dont fix what u find, it stays torn down, and u get paid for that.
Also, that cam needed replaced.. I'd tell him no warranty
