Ever dreamt of climbing a mountain?
Back when I was a kid, in my small hometown in Romania, all of my friends were obsessed with football. Since I never identified with the game, I felt left out and thought “I’ll never find an activity I love”.
Fast forward to my early 20s, after I finished reading Bear Grylls’s ‘Mud Sweat and Tears’ -something clicked. I was a Mountaineer. I might not have climbed any mountains yet or knew anything about what it takes, but somehow every cell in my body believed it.
I made this channel to share my experiences and hopefully someday inspire fellow unaware Mountaineers out there to reach new heights of their own.
My name’s Cris, welcome to Train to Summit.

I climbed Aconcagua alone from the sea (and back)
My dream was to climb this mountain from sea level. At 6,000 meters I realised I couldn't do it.
In January 2024 I set out to climb Aconcagua from the Pacific Ocean in Chile, to the summit, and back. A 500km journey in total.
This film documents my experience of attempting to climb one of the 7 Summits. The highest peak in the Andes mountains.
The walk was difficult, but the real challenge only started when I reached Plaza de Mulas.
This crazy journey is only the first of 7.
My end goal is to climb each continent'sdaydreamed highest mountain (the 7 Summits) from sea level, and back to sea level.

I walked across Chile to climb Aconcagua
Переглядів 4,1 тис.Місяць тому
A lot of people told me this was a bad idea. Hiking through urban and rural Chile and Argentina, alone, to attempt to climb South America's highest mountain from sea level. After a year of planning, I daydreamt of this moment every single day. Hiking from the Pacific Ocean in Chile to the summit of Aconcagua, and back - this is my unusual dream. This crazy journey is only the first of 7. My end...
How I went from broke to climbing the 7 Summits - Documentary
Переглядів 5 тис.2 місяці тому
At the start of 2024 I began the most terrifying adventure - following my dream. I set out to become the first person that climbs the 7 Summits, each continent's highest mountain, from sea level, and back to sea level. Climbing every single meter, up and down. In this video I documented my journey to the first two summits, Aconcagua and Kilimanjaro - South America and Africa's highest peaks. To...
Best Via Ferrata in the Julian Alps?
Переглядів 3,8 тис.6 місяців тому
When we passed through a giant hole in the mountain 800 meters off the ground to reach the summit, I knew this was possibly one of the most EPIC Via Ferratas we ever did. After summiting Triglav (Slovenia's highest mountain) the day before, we decided to embark on one more epic mission. Just about an hour's drive from Ljubljana airport, Prisojnik, or Prisank as it's also called is a beautiful 2...
Climbing Slovenia's Highest Mountain in Gale Force Winds
Переглядів 2,4 тис.6 місяців тому
The wind close to the summit was blowing so hard I couldn't see anymore. This seemingly straightforward route had just turned into a hardcore challenge... In September we went to Slovenia to climb its highest mountain, Triglav. The weather forecast for the period we were there didn't look promising, so we had to fit a peak usually done over 2-days into a one-day push. The journey to the summit ...
Racing against a Storm - Climbing Epic via Ferrata in the Dolomites
Переглядів 1,2 тис.7 місяців тому
I love the Dolomites, but they have a big problem...they seem to be prone to bad weather, more than any other place I've been to. It might just be our luck though 😂 In August we had a long weekend booked to do some epic Via Ferratas. The weather prognosis didn't agree with our plans though. On day one we were lucky to get a good weather window and managed to go to the top of the Sella group via...
I'm climbing the 7 Summits from Sea to Sea
Переглядів 3,2 тис.7 місяців тому
A couple of years ago I decided to follow my crazy dream... to climb the highest mountain on each continent (also known as the 7 Summits challenge) from sea level and back to sea level. Every single meter up and down, and on foot. I'm starting this journey in January 2024 by walking from the Pacific Ocean in Chile, to the summit of Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America, and back to t...
Best Via Ferrata in the Dolomites? Climbing Possnecker
Переглядів 6 тис.8 місяців тому
This route throws you straight into a 700-meter vertical climb, with terrifying drops on each side. About 2 months ago we went to climb Piz Selva, a 2,941m mountain belonging to the Sella group, an iconic giant of the Dolomites. We started our hike from Passo Sella, and within minutes got to the start of our climb. Our chosen route was via Ferrata Possnecker (also called Ferrata delle Mesules),...
Unguided Climb of one of Georgia's Highest Peaks: Mount Kazbek
Переглядів 10 тис.8 місяців тому
I didn't think we'd have to cross into Russia to get to the summit of this mountain, especially not via a border lying at nearly 5,000 meters. Our journey started in the town of Stepantsminda, in the Kazbegi region of Georgia, from where we could see Mount Kazbek looming over us for the whole time we were there. Climbing Kazbek was no easy feat. There is no cozy Alpine hut here with a half-boar...
We Got Lost: Climbing a remote peak in Georgia alone
Переглядів 3,5 тис.9 місяців тому
Crossing a border illegally is not ideal, especially when it might be lined with mines. A couple of months ago we set off to climb Sherkhota, a dormant volcano in the Kazbegi region of Georgia. This trip was meant to help us acclimatize for our ultimate goal in Georgia, Mount Kazbek - the third highest mountain in Georgia's Caucasus range. From the get-go, we realized that this mountain is loca...
We tried Georgia’s two Best Day Hikes from Stepansminda
Переглядів 3,8 тис.9 місяців тому
This country wasn't what we expected it to be... Hiking in Georgia was at the top of our to-do list for years. Renowned for the Caucasus mountains and its wild nature, this was one we had to experience for ourselves. From the time we were based in Stepantsminda (Kazbegi region), two hikes stood out to us the most. The Chaukhi pass hike which goes from Juta village, over Chaukhi pass, and to the...
Climbing Switzerland's Highest Mountain Unguided | Monte Rosa
Переглядів 103 тис.10 місяців тому
Starting a climb knowing it will take 17 hrs is no easy task, especially when it's up the 2nd highest mountain in the Alps, Dufourspitze - the highest peak on Monte Rosa. We started from Zermatt, one of those places that should be at the top of your 'must visit' list in Switzerland, by taking a train some 1,000 meters up. Our objective for the first day was what I consider to be one of the most...
Climbing Breithorn from Italy to Switzerland - Unguided
Переглядів 5 тис.10 місяців тому
I always wanted to cross over a mountain range, but I never thought I would do it carrying 20kg on my back... After climbing to Capanna Margherita, the highest mountain hut in the Alps, we went to Breuil-Cervinia, from where we embarked on an ambitious mission the following day - Hiking over the Alps from Cervinia to Zermatt, and in the process summiting the Breithorn. West and Central Breithor...
Above the clouds - A journey to the highest hut in Europe, Unguided
Переглядів 21 тис.11 місяців тому
When someone got airlifted out of the hut at 2AM, we knew this place is no joke. For years I wanted to visit Capanna Margherita, famous for being the highest mountain hut in the Alps, perched atop a 4,554-meter mountain, Signalkuppe - part of the Monte Rosa group of mountains. If you include our acclimatization climb, this journey took us 3 days to reach. We decided to take an ambitious route t...
Striding Edge - Actually difficult or just hype?
Переглядів 17 тис.Рік тому
Worth the hype? Judge for yourself. Helvellyn via the Striding Edge is one of those routes that came up EVERY TIME I opened social media. People of all skill levels were telling epic tales of climbing the third-highest mountain in England via the Striding Edge. The hardest route to Helvellyn's summit. So naturally, I absolutely had to see what all the fuss is about. The route I chose was a hors...

The best hike in Switzerland [Zermatt to Mettelhorn]
This video was amazing. You are an animal😂 . I had this thought for a long time but decided to drop your name to Bear Grylls. I know its crazy, but you remind me of him so much. I will be following your journey and thinking of you. Take care ❤
Great summit also on my list, should be careful crossing the glacier, I guess the from Saas grund side is different because I see you started from Täsch. Great mountaineering stuff just what I like, no guides all by yourself or with partner in a range of achievable peaks up from 4000 meters, but still a challenge👍👌🏔️🌄
I felt lost in my life and discovered mountaineering. Just saw this video really inspiring. I wish you the best in your project keep going. I plan to start soon.
Thank you 🙏🏻 Enjoy many amazing adventures to come!
Is it a harder climb than Mont Blanc?
I found it harder than the Gouter route on Mont Blanc
Bine, bre!!!
Great video! I summited Aconcagua in February last year. Crazy you did a 200km walk after it!! Btw what tent are you using?
Good work? it's not an easy peak... MSR Access 2 - definitely NOT made for Aconcagua 😂
what is the difficulty level of this ferrata?
I’m surprised you didn’t get any comments saying that Denali & Aconcagua are on the same continent. I know Geography classes in certain other countries teach people that Denali & Aconcagua are on the same continent.
This is such a cool idea and a very motivating story! Can i ask, how dod you gain the experience to climb technical mountains unguided? I am 18 and would love to climb mamy of the same mountains that you have climbed but hiring a guide each time seems impracticle...? Good luck with your journey, wishing you all the best!
მადლობა სტუმრობისთვის <3
Amazing as usual. Proud of you mate.
What can you say Outstanding
nice video and informative, beautiful atmosphere out there. we planned once to climb the weismiess we had to cancel it because of the weather, amazing views up there, did you had a glacier travel? i want to do this solo
Wow wow wow!! What an achievement, just incredible (but you’re officially a nutter 😂) Fantastic video. Well done Cris, can’t wait to see the next adventure!
Thanks Therese, glad you enjoyed it!
That was quite an adventure, but you pulled through it! Keep it up 💪🏼
Just! 😂 Thanks brother 💪🏻

The non-cabled sections seem much scarier than the cabled via ferrata sections.
100%
It is not defined as Via ferrata in Slovenia but demanding mountaineering route. For it to be via ferrata you would need to have cable security more or less all the way. Here you can fall on exposed terrain on some parts without any cable security. Dont expect via ferrata and dont advertise one…
summited Kilimanjaro yesterday, staring at Elbrus next. you’re a monster brother keep it going. I thought I was a mad man, then I found you… truly inspired.
Thank you and well done on the Kilimanjaro summit, that's a great effort and a beautiful peak 💪🏻
Nice to see you guys showing the reality of the mental anxieties, physical hurdles and financial struggles with goals like this. I don't really resonate with these big corporate sponsored athletes like Nims, they're too disconnected from the average person imo. And then there's the sexual assault allegations.. Osprey has terminated their partnership with him so is this someone who should be looked up to? I just turned 40 this year and have set a goal to summit a 6250m peak in Northern India, unguided/alpine style and solo, in a few months. I just got my handmade backpack in the mail from Colorado USA, an 80L Seek Outside pack.. the wheels are truly in motion 😀 These kinds of videos are good inspiration, looking forward to seeing your Kili trip 👍 Cheers from Australia.
Thank you for filming this. I enjoyed watching your adventure climbing videos. I have never climbed a mountain before, but after watching this video makes me want to learn the new skill. 😄💖⛰️⛰️⛰️⛰️⛰️⛰️
Congratulations for making it to the Aconcagua Summit! Love your documentary-style of vlogs. Looking forward to your African adventures too. Stay Safe.
Fantastic video!! What are your glassses please?
Hey mate, nice video. Myself and 3 friends are staying at Weissmieshutte 1 night on June 21st - the idea has always been to hike Lagginhorn the following morning (starting around 4am i guess?), but we have no guide and this season has been incredibly snowy (seems like it may still be snowing....). Any suggestions for the lagginhorn in these conditions? Otherwise, can we hike Weissmies from the hut instead, and if yes would it be easier than lagginhorn?
You seem as prepared as you need to be - hope Africa was a success and will wait that video :)
Incredible guys. What a god damn epic effort. Grab life by the horns and ride that bad boy out. Every time I watch I get more inspired. Hopefully those cracked fingers recovered and I’m pumped to see the journey to Kilimanjaro!!
Great video and accomplishment! Looking forward to seeing the next adventure and hopefully Viv making summit too.
You make this look soooo easy! I suffer with really BAD vertigo. Cat Bells messed me up - seriously! 😆 I've done Helvellyn via the easy route, and Scafell Pike both challenged me a lot. I'd love to challenge myself with Striding Edge, for me personally, it would be an amazing achievement. Great video by the way!
Wow just wow!! Cris & Viv, massive respect!! Never give up guys!! 1 down 6 to go !! 💪💪 Let’s gooooo!!!!
Awesome story. Looking forward to more!
Go get them all, Chris!!! So, so happy for you! Viv running at the end made me smile! Stay safe you two!
Congratulations on reaching your 1st goal. Amazing perseverance, just sad Viv couldn't join you. On to the next one.
It is challenging in places, but the main danger is when the weather is bad, when it's windy, and the rocks are wet, or if visibility is low. Striding edge has claimed lives but it's fine when the weather conditions are good.
favourite youtuber uploaded again🥳
Thank you ❤️
IF SUN IS THE TRUE SOURCE OF HEAT & LIGHT THEN WHY DOES IT GET DARKER & COLDER WHEN YOU RISE IN ALTITUDE ? * * IT SHOULD GET BRIGHTER & WARMER BECAUSE YOU ARE CLOSER TO THE SUN * * * IF SUN IS THE TRUE SOURCE OF HEAT & LIGHT AND MOVING FEW DEGREES NORTH OR SOUTH ( SUMMERS & WINTERS ) CAN MAKE THE TEMPERATURES RISE & FALL TO ( PLUS 40 CELSIUS & MINUS 40 CELSIUS ) THEN HOW COME WINTER DAYS ARE COLDER IN THE PRESENCE OF THE SUN WHILE SUMMER NIGHTS ARE WARMER IN THE ABSENCE OF THE SUN ? * * *
love your videos
Walking from sea to summit to sea thats craaaaazyy ! Amazing honestly, cheers !
I was in suspense the entire video. I like how Chris’ calm voice shows up in the most stressful moments and I got to see my good friend Marita too ❤
Glad you enjoyed the video Patty!
Inspiring Chris truly what UA-cam is all about is to watch adventures and climbs like the this (bravo 🏔️🙌) Especially after so many setbacks and injuries too 🙏🏼 Great to see viv is ok but obviously disappointed (there will be another chance in the future 👍) Brilliant Best wishes Simon 🤠👍🏔️🇦🇷
Thank you Simon 🙏🏻
Being so close, giving up, and then going back and conquering the mountain, what an achievement man. A true display of mental strength most can only dream of. You're an inspiration to everyone, this channel deserves a million subs. Looking forward to your next adventures!
Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏻
Well done Kriss and Viv. I'm so pleased you didn't quit. Glad viv had the sense to stop and not antagonise her injury further. By the way my girlfriend said Kris's nose looked like a big strawberry when.he was near the summit! And it did! 😂
Hard to put enough sunscreen on something that sticks out so much! 😂
Wow, what a storytelling and endurance! Wish you all the best! I hope that you find good sponsors for the upcoming trip, because you really put something down on the table with these videos!
maaan you are crazy, huge congrats!! looking forward to your next videos! wishing u all the best from 🇸🇮
Thanks! We're actually driving through Slovenia tomorrow! 🇸🇮
This is incredibly impressive, you must have gone to some dark places, what an achievement to overcome those, such inspiring stuff
Thanks brother ❤️
Keep going!!!
Inspirational...thank you and good luck for the 6 remaining!! ❤
