The most DANGEROUS hike in the UK? (Tryfan & Bristly Ridge)

- Wales you’re incredible. We had an adventurous 6-hour hike with some of the steepest scrambles and most dramatic views in the UK, climbing Tryfan North Ridge and Bristly Ridge on Glyder Fach.
Last year we had the pleasure of visiting Wales while going to Mount Snowdon via the Horseshoe route (via Crib Goch ridge) and fell in love with Snowdonia National Park straight away.
The route that climbs the North Ridge of Tryfan and Bristly Ridge is similar in difficulty to that of Snowdon via Crib Goch, it packs a punch and makes it an unforgettable mountaineering experience.
From the summit of Glyder Fach and Glyder Fawr we also had a full panorama of the surrounding mountains and of Mount Snowdon itself. This was every mountaineer’s dream.
I'm currently planning for 2023. Comment below if you have any suggestions on where we should go next 👊
Well, nothing in Nepal or the Himalayas yet ???
@@69EBubu Fingers crossed for September 2025 😉
@Train to Summit oh great ! Where Exactly ? You'll have a blast. Beware that the best time starts in october/Nov. In Sept there can still be some heavy rains and bad weather....

Answer - it is not the most dangerous hike in the UK. Thank You
It certainly isn’t. But it is a lot of fun.
No, it’s probably one of the most difficult grade 1s in Wales though 👍
Tryfan is a fantastic mountain, but for danger it wouldnt be in my top 100. Try the famous Scottish ridges:Liathac,An Teallach,Aonach Eagach, and of course the incredible Cuillins of Skye. These are dangerous !
This isn’t in the top 100 most dangerous routes but it’s definitely in the top 100 most dangerous mountains. It’s the steepest and most treacherous mountain south of Glencoe I’d say and even north of that they aren’t that many Scottish mountains worse than this. The Skye Cullin, some Torridon, Glencoe and Knoydart mountains, An Teallach and the North side of Ben Nevis spring to mind but I can’t think of many others.
Not really that dangerous, try Dolmen ridge if you fancy raising the heartbeat up a few notches .
Great video, thank you but you should work on your pronunciation. The letter F is pronounced like a V in the Welsh alphabet and CH is pronounced as it is for the musician Bach. I’m not even going to try to explain how a Y is pronounced 😆
I'll remember that for the next Wales trip!
it's nowhere near the most dangerous hike in the UK.
Nice vid and a fantastic route/day out, suitable for beginners to Scrambling and the more experienced....but most dangerous in the UK??? 🤣 It's not even the most dangerous where you are in the Ogwen valley....not even close. And then there's Scotland..... just pure clickbait!
Thanks for watching, much appreciated. The title isn't a statement, it's a question ☺
Fair enough 😂 Now you have your answer!@@TraintoSummit
Tryfan is a fantastic scramble, one of my favourites. Looks like you had a blast
It's such a great route!
I concur, this is not the hardest ridge or route on the UK. Way harder routes in Scotland
I did Tryfan as a kid so, not hard as long as you stick to route. Sorry you didn’t do the jump. Best thing about Tryfan.
What route? There are so many bifuricattions tthat it is very unlikely tthat you ever go up the same way more tthan once.
Love the channel mate but how did you miss the CANNO,the iconic CONNON stone this is my play ground every week love the locations you go to💪
Thanks! I didn't miss it, actually went (slid on stomach😂) to the top of it for a pic. I didn't add it to the video because it was losing a bit of momentum.
That looks fun. I have never been in Wales for the mountains. The scouts would say aonach Eagach at glen coe which is one of those linear trips with no escape to the side (notched ridge with some good scrambling). Otherwise there are some fantastic things to climb in Scotland. Cicerone Scotland mountain ridges of a good start but much needs rope. Scottish mountains are superb.
Thanks for watching! We're planning a few trips to Scotland next year, I'll make sure to check those out 👊🏼
Wow. I absolutely loved this. Subscribed!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
At 7:26, you had one fair left hand hold (which I very much doubt would have held you if there was further for your feet to travel) and one non-existent right hand hold. Complacency is a killer, please be careful!!!.
Excellent 👌 video really enjoyed watching your content.
❤️🙏🫡
I did the same last week under rain....not really easy
You should come and try some of the hikes where I live, in Tenerife. Some great climbs and trails. There is a hill near my house that is 1004m, a nice 3.5 hour hike from the beach to the top.
We've been there and did Teide in 2017, absolutely love the area and the volcano, will definitely come back 🙌🏼
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful video, everyone knows that you are carrying viv off cam, hehe.
😂
Outstanding thank you for sharing
Scrambling with affection!
No it's not
7:27 - inadvertent slip. I guess that's why your instructor Nick builds anchors sometimes! To guard against slips becoming falls.
In Mountaineering there's a balance in-between speed and security. If you build and anchor for every scramble you'll get caught out every time. Inadvertent slips can equally happen on a sidewalk 😊
Thanks for watching!
How about Picos de Europa? I've been wanting to go for 10 years since I read about it. Sadly not gone there yet.
That's a great suggestion! That area looks incredible. I've been eyeing them this year but didn't get the chance😕
Nothing better than a great rock scramble! Good stuff, keep going!
Thank you mate!
Great video. It was hard to tell which lines you took, on Bristly did you take 'Sinister' or 'Dexter' Gully or did you take some crazy route in Grade 3 territory!
I definitely think we ended up on Dexter gully but also did some rogue stuff as well at some point 😂
@@TraintoSummit Tryfan-Bristly is one of my favourite days out in North Wales, there are so many different lines. Looking at your video I think you took lines that seriously upped the grade 😂
@@forfar4fife5 I think Viv would agree with you 😂
Try climbing it in winter when it's covered in snow and ice with crampons on
It's on the list 👍🏻
My friend and I did it, but this time I didn’t leap the stones they were too slippery. It took as about twice as long as normal.
@@user-rf9me7xm1w I bet it's a whole different route with snow on top
It is nowhere near the most dangerous hike in the uk 😂
10 hours to do that route. You could do it 2.5 times in 10 hours.
