  • Looking for an incredible beginners mountain?
This peak in Skye has it all. Challenging terrain and extremely rewarding views.
I wanted to visit the Isle of Skye from the moment a client mentioned it to me.
He said the Cuillin Hills are one of the best mountain ranges to climb in Scotland.
Our first mission was to climb Sgurr Alasdair, the highest mountain on Skye, located in an area of the mountain range known as Black Cullin.
The trail that leads us to the base of the mountain is itself an unforgettable hike, with unobstructed views of our Munro and the Scottish sea.
The main challenge we had in climbing our peak was the Great Stone Chute. A 300-odd meter slope of the harshest mountain terrain - scree.
The summit of Sgurr Alasdair had unobstructed views of all of the Munroes in the Black Cullin, and also of one of Skye's most famous routes - The Cullin Ridge traverse... A mission for another time.

You could have gone down the other side of the mountain, a little longer but much easier.

Can you leave the heavy pack and sleeping bag at the trailhead, and go up and down in a light daypack?

You could but there's also the risk of having your stuff nicked...

@@TraintoSummit Pretty sure that's not going to happen up in Coire Lagan! I'd have left it all near the lochan.

Thanks mate! I have a pair of hiking boots from Scarpa, can't recall what model it is but I love the brand. My B2's are also Scarpa. In that video Viv's rocking Decathlon's finest 😎
