Nancy Z is the bomb, you are right! I've used pivot and slide to adjust for a wider shoulder, lowering a bust dart, and sewing collars and collar bands all with great success. Your ideas have got me thinking more about better fitting through the bodice however, so thanks for this video!

I have used the Nancy Zieman method, both the pivot for adding inches at the bust, and the "slide" for moving the dart down. It works great, I can now make any pattern I want and I know the fit will be perfect. In her book, she also demonstrates hip, back, shoulder and skirt and pants adjustments, raglan sleeves, princess seams. It's an amazing resource. Your particular make with the McCall's pattern turned out so perfect! I have that pattern and now I'm going to make it too. Thanks for this video!

This was super helpful! I never thought of doing that adjustment for shortening the thigh area to get that extra range of motion in the knee! I've got a Dawn Jeans pattern that could use that adjustment I think. So Thanks! I'd love to see more of these kinds of adjustments!! I think your pants turned out great!!

The chambray Vernon shirt is perfect! I have a RTW one I took on a fall vacation last year and pretty much wore it every day - they work. The PDAG dress is just adorable. Love the new fabrics but don't love the idea of cold weather 🥶 quite as much 😄! Might as well look good when you're freezing, though!

What a perfect topper for your trip! Chambray is a great neutral and goes with just about everything. I have some denim colored Tencel just waiting to be a Vernon. Just can’t decide whether to do orange/ gold topstitching with brass buttons, white and white or navy and navy. 🙃

That shirt is awesome Izzy. We all love a Denim jacket over dresses etc but sometimes it's too hot! That will bridge the gap and be perfect for Greece and many holidays to come. Fitting is always the greatest challenge. I’m not sure I’ve ever mastered it.😂 But horsehair, bonning, and lining are easy installations. Just new if you have done it before.

Izzy, that blouse is gorgeous on you. Gorgeous! And it’s Liberty, right? I temporarily stopped my boxes because I had to buy a bunch of stuff for the house. Wear it proudly in Greece, with white pants/ shorts/ flowy skirt.

I think it looks beautiful, but if you wanted to have more drape I believe Whitney from Tomkat stitchery suggested you can soak fabric and coca cola to soften the fibers without it being staind. If you try it and it works let us know. Enjoy your vacation! Watching from Hamilton Ontario.

Hi Izzie! That’s the Fabric that I received as well. The top does look lovely on you, but I will be sure to remind you not to make yourself a top the next time we get a cotton poplin or lawn. I’m sorry the fabric drape doesn’t suit your liking! It does look gorgeous though! I have a question though…do you have a lot of problems with the neckline stretching out prior or during sewing? My sample that I made stretched a LOT of that blouse, but maybe it was the fabric? Or I did something wrong. I thought I stay stitched it right away, but maybe I didn’t? Thanks for any advice.

I'm thinking about the new Cashmerette Club Loring dress pattern with this fabric Izzy. Will have to look again to see what kind of fabric Jenny used for that beautiful sleeveless version in her picture for or in Florence. I also thought it would make a beautiful quilt back. I challenge myself to use as much of the fabric in those boxes as possible. I don't like to wear black and so am taking an absolutely gorgeous blue and black viscose and using it as a lining for a Heather blazer. I have been lucky and able to trade a couple of other black fabrics but that is expensive and time consuming. I too adore my subscription though sometimes would like to buy other fabric I choose. Back to work now. Made enough progress sewing this summer to create room for incoming Think Pink boxes. xx Karen

Hello Izzy. The fabric looks beautiful but I totally understand what you mean about how it falls at the front. Pattern Emporium has a hack to put wide elastic at the waist, so would it be worth using your remnant fabric to make a band at the bottom with some fairly loose elastic in it? It would draw it in a little and look intentional, and sit well with pants or skirts. Just a thought of course, you know best what you like.

Beautiful fabric Izzy and a lovely blouse. You definitely needed a full bust adjustment as all the drag lines and lifted front hem indicated. I agree with some other comments about trying elastic or a drawstring at the bottom to try and save it. The Ogden cami looks beautiful. ❤

Because the fabric is beautiful and it look so good on you, I think I would try what has been suggested… the darts from the waist and see how it falls. Who knows maybe it would resolve the issue.

@dizzyquiltsandsews Dear Izzy, the problem is you needed to do an FBA. I know it’s something you avoid doing because you’ve talked about it many times in your videos. It’s not that the width doesn’t fit you across your bust, it’s because like me, you are larger busted and need more fabric to travel across the length of your bust going down to the hem. That’s the main reason it’s lifted where you point to. Yes it’s structured fabric but if you did an FBA, it would be level at the hem and I think you could like it better. They really aren’t hard to do, but for our size busts, it is a necessity. You could learn this skill instead of removing a type of fabric from your repertoire. Cashmerette teaches a great one along with Tomkat Stitchery in her Fitting 101 of which I think I remember, you took. I wish you the best, and I am cheering you on to tackle this challenge, I know you can do it. 😊🙌

Oh what a shame. The balloon sleeve top is a lovely pattern which I’ve made several times but, you’ve reminded me not to make it in cotton. 😕. I was envisioning lovely wide leg trousers in your Grecian fabric so you could float about on your lovely holiday. Yours is the only unboxing vlog I ever watch as you actually make something with the fabric. You help me to resist buying yet more fabric! Thank you for your vlog as always. 😀
