Marathon Workout 4 x 1 mile [] Hack From Olympic Athlete [] Chester and Abingdon Marathon Updates
As we move into Week 5 of marathon training, this workout is 4 x 1 mile. As we are away on holiday, we managed to find an ersatz track on which to complete the session.
We also implemented a training tip that a former Olympian told John several years ago.

Our latest parkrun travels took us to Minehead, an event we last did in 2016. That day, aged 52, Dawn ran 22:36. Could she beat that time as a F60 eight years later? The battle for the third female position was tightly contested, with four of five females finishing within a few seconds of each other. Belton House parkrun is a popular parkrun both with tourists and locals. This was our fourth visit here but the first time we have taken the filming equipment and we were lucky to arrive on such a perfect summer's day which showcased the venue at its best. Who would decide to do their first track session in several years in 26 degree heat? Well it was on the plan so had to be done. It was a tough workout - Dawn had been injured and my V02 Max is probably one of the weaker aspects of my running. Added to that there was going to be a debut for my new running spikes. So fingers cross all those variables aligned and we would have. good workout.

This is week two of our progress towards Autumn marathon goals - Abingdon for me and Chester for Dawn. I execute a progressive workout but Dawn finds herself partially sidelined with a freak injury. Running long workouts in warm weather means you have to adjust your expectations of pace or heart rate. Or both. Let's see how I got on with this marathon progression run.

Last weekend saw us take part in the Yorkshire Veterans Athletic Association Championships at Sheffield. Dawn went for the 800m, 100m and 1500m whilst I ran my first 3000m race in about 20 years.
