It's really fantastic to see you enjoying a distance you love. You have worked very hard on your fitness over the last 12 months & you are now reaping your just rewards. Well done on a very well executed 10K race. Good luck on project 39 John
Well done, John. I bet you'd love the Wirral 10K in a couple of weeks' time. It was my first ever race last year. Flat, tarmac, plenty of room for overtaking, great view over the Mersey, past a Napoleonic fort, etc.
John, I am a big fan of your channel and love watching how you Dawn train and race. I can’t tell you how much this video moved me, seeing you run happy and thriving, with a noticeable change in confidence. Made me cry (I’m emotional and at a running crossroads atm). Has made me think about my running direction as I enter the more age challenging years (stop trying and failing to do everything!) Congratulations on a brilliant race and I am excited to see you train and get that sub 40 😊 x
I'm glad it resonated with you. I hope you make the right choice for you at the crossroads. We've been down many roads in the past and know which ones are pleasant for each of us.
Great video and well done with your time. This was my first Redcar 10km and I loved it. I’ve even spotted myself in the footage! 46:26 was my time and some day I also want to do 10km in sub 40! Keep going!
Nice running, I’m a fan of running your favourite distance as sometimes pushing yourself on the ‘wrong’ distance stops the enjoyment. As an older runner myself I want to run fast but also really enjoy my running.
Great job John, this will be a good series, and with that time sub40 will down in no time I'd say 😃 It's amazing you hold those high heart rates, brilliant !
@@tworunningbrooms haha - id like to do it before the end of the year but its unlikely with Valencia in December and MCR next month. Unless I miraculously somehow feel like superman and pull it off there ! (I won be going for it though, just the 90 mins please.
Well done John. Glad you are working towards a target in a race distance you enjoy. I seem to have lost the motivation to race at the moment and I am looking to get it back. I have had an enjoyable summer of running but I have not raced hard for nearly 12 months. Entering the ballot for Brass Monkeys Half tomorrow and I am hoping that will be the target I need to focus on.
@@tworunningbrooms GNR was a good day out. No time pressure and made an appearance or two in a UA-cam video. Ballot entered this morning, if I get in then hopefully I will not be looking so casual if I make an appearance in another video as I will be chasing a PB.
Fantastic effort John. I'm sure with some dedicated 10K training you can get under 40 minutes. I think some of us (me included) are better suited to the shorter stuff than marathons.
Your speed and form is looking great John. Hope the pressure has eased now you’re not marathon training anymore. Best of luck with the new plan …. is it a Ben Parkes one or your own?
Thank you. Ironically I just finished a run where I have been filming about running form and how I plan to focus the 10k training. Incoming in a few days 😉
Nice work John. I'm sure a sub 40 is not far off. My Project 39 took a bit of a set back, in fact it hasn't actually started yet because my legs were destroyed after giving 100% in my last 5k (18:53) and I'm still not fully recovered. I ran 40:45 this time last year, but it was June 2016 when I last dipped under 40 and my pb goes back to 2008 (36:27).
@@tworunningbrooms I did look at the suggestions you made, but unless the bring back old fashioned "on the day entries" I can't really make them work (work). Ribble Valley is still a possibilty though.

Oh please no more temptations. I've already entered four before Christmas 😉
Brilliant John... This could be a short series, well done! 🏃♂🏅🎉
I think the closer we get the more work will be needed. This could run...

Yes the 10k offers an ideal mix of speed, strength and tactics for me.
Bloody well done John! A big step forward…Very pleased for you.
Thanks Dave. Where there is life there is hope.
A solid benchmark to kick off the 39:XX journey! The work you've put into the marathon training block seems to be paying off over shorter distances!
Yes important to keep cycling the training blocks through different distances so we don't get stale.

Thank you Ian. We all find our niche.

Although you did make an excellent extra on Andy's GNR video! Dawn has put us in that ballot too. So you could perhaps video bomb that too? 😉

Yes it's all to do with muscle fibres and energy systems.
Looking good, John. Really strong running. Great to see you enjoying a good 10k. The watch set-up seemed to help 👍
Yes we find similar with the km to km focus.
Thats a great marker for future races, 39 will be an easy target on the right course.
Ah not so sure on the easy. But worthwhile I hope.
Well done John, brilliant splits and a great fast last k... good start to the challenge!
Thanks. Yes better than expected
Excellent video john 👍, thanks for the shout out.😎

Looked strong John with a nice pace progression. I reckon you could go high 38 low 39 !

Sounds like we're in a similar place, although your 5k time suggests a Sub 40 is well within reach. Any races planned?
